I learnt to roll in 2012, so 11 years ago, using your videos. I now make a living coaching kayaking, and I still refer back to your channel every time anyone asks for some videos to watch to prepare for rolling lessons, or when people are interested in new methods of rolling, as I've not found any that do it better.

But isn't your face wide open to kiss the rocks this way? I thought the point of leaning forward with the normal screw roll is to keep the helmet between you and them rocky friends?

I would recommend practice a lot in flat water (including in a lake where can't see so clearly as a pool). At first they train you on how to get out of the kayak rather than learning the roll, because in some cases that might be the better option. Also I would when I did start learning the roll, it can be an uneasy feeling being upside down and feeling trapped. White water kayaks are designed to fit very snug, and have thigh braces built right into the frame of the kayak, so that combined with the spray skirt, you should practice quite a bit just getting in and out in different positions as quickly as possible without panic.

schritt fur schritt, fantastishe, Can you help us out with the hip-snap movement, is it a hip turn or a sideways movement. I try to do it on the side of the pool and end up stuck with the kayak on top of me, hands hanging on for dear life.

Lying on the boat brings his centre of mass as close as possible to the point the boat turns about whilst rolling. This ensures the turning force from his hands have the greatest possible effect.

I recommend this video. Really like KZbin due to this kind of content!!!My step brother was previously bullied. He explained he was gonna get bigger. I chuckled... But then he gained 40 pounds of absolute muscle mass. He made use of the Muscle Building Bible - Google it. No-one dares to intimidate him anymore. :-) I personally registered earlier this week. See what will happen. And the guys emails are fucking cool...

Not the best way to roll, use your body and the movement and not power to roll. Look on Helen Wilson. If you learn the roll that do not use power and only muscle memory and body movement you can roll in a straitjacket...

This is the best video EVER on learning how to kayak roll. I'm a newbie and the part of the video that shows NOT TO DO is exactly what I am doing now and why I failed in all my attempts to complete the roll. thank you so much for posting this.
