The angels/demons internal/external connection is one I’ve either never verbalized or hadn’t thought about deeply in the wake of watching. Honestly a huge overarching philosophical narrative that deserves more discussion imo. Super sick video dude. Very creative and profound. Definitely would place it in the category of art, and that’s a great gifting. God bless you and Godspeed on further artistic endeavors

Thank you for this video. It helps makes so much more sense of this. I found the Evangelion series compelling, moving, disturbing, and heartbreaking. This video of yours made it more hopeful than I thought it could be. Although, I’ve not yet been able to watch the newer reboots. But I plan to soon.

The colorful stuff you didn't want to translate mean "embarrassed" or "embarrassing" (peinlicher) and "stepmother" (stiefmutter)
@timberw0lfstudios19 сағат бұрын
I didn't translate the colorful text because it had no bearing on the technical aspect I chose to cover in that segment, not because I didn't want to translate it. Plus, why endeavor with translations when such wonderful viewers as yourself can translate for yourself and the greater audience?

Dude is gonna be the successor lol. That was something else. Edit: When all expectations who you are to others collapse (failing to be the best pilot, etc.) the form of yourself becomes unrecognizable and distorted. You don't know who you are (am I even a pilot?, etc.) That just means its up to you to rebuild yourself to the person you want to be, not who others view you as. Accepting responsibility to take care of yourself even if you don't want to, something that their estranged parents never taught them. This is my current battle.

I have a difficult love hate relationship with NGE, a little more hate than love to be honest. I love the show for the first half where the writing and character development is fantastic, then I hate it for how the second half (plus EoE) mercilessly shits on all the progress our characters made during the first half, not to mention the show's overall writing and animation quality began to steadily drop near the end of the show's run cuz the puget was quickly drying up. I feel the same way about the RoE movies too. The first two were great, then the last two totally sucked.

As far as I understand Kierkegaard and to grossly summarise, despair stems from our lack of transparency. The only way of being so transparent and escape, as it were "the hell that is other" or the despair/alienation that plagues us is to resolve and enact a "leap of faith", thereby enjoying a direct relationship with God who cannot only bear but be all contradictions that burden us (think of Christ on the cross somewhat as a representation of "being a contradiction."). But apart from Abraham (fearful and trembling, if perhaps free from despair), who can be a "knight of faith" or a real Christian? Not that I'm a Christian, but a reading of Kierkegaard can only be Christian. Btw, I love your commentaries on NGE!

So one thing I didn't see mentioned is how kids who are exposed to sex and trauma at a young age can develop problems and fixations around it like Hypersexuality. Based on the scene where its implied that she knew about her fathers affair I think that scene is also implying that she had caught her father and the affair woman in the act. Leading to her difficult and complicated relationship with sex and her own sexuality. That said excellent video its been a while since I watched Eva and I was so pissed off by the end of movies god awful ending that since I finished the rebuild movies I haven't wanted to go back. This is making me want to.

is this ham processed?
@timberw0lfstudios19 сағат бұрын
Ma'am, that is an eleven pound whole slab of deli ham. It has no bones, fat, or connective tissue. It is an amalgamation of the meat of several pigs, emulsified, liquefied, strained, and ultimately inexorably joined in an unholy meat obelisk. God had no hand in the creation of this abhorrence. The fact that this ham monolith exists proves that God is either impotent to alter His universe or ignorant to the horrors taking place in his kingdom. This prism of pork is more than deli meat. It is a physical declaration of mankind's contempt for the natural order. It is hubris manifest. We also have a lower sodium variety if you would prefer that.

50 seconds on a single scene, you can easily tell this anime wouldn't fly nowadays, most teens can't hold their attention span for more than 15 seconds, they really won't know what they're missing, I admit I don't like evangelion that much and think it's overrated but it is higher quality than most modern content being launched

Just discovered your series a few days after this video released and sometimes I have to really thank KZbin for giving some great recommendations. I watched the first five minutes of this one before I realized I was missing a lot of what you’ve said beforehand and started from the beginning. This was incredibly insightful at every moment and convinced me I should make some time to give this show a rewatch. My first exposure to Evangelion was a review of End of Evangelion from the early 2000s that tainted my perception of the show. It was either a satirical review (that was not made obvious to someone unfamiliar with the show) or the writer only skimmed the surface of the show, complaining about the graphic violence, the lack of mecha action for being a mecha show, how nonsensical the progression of the story went, the application of crosses everywhere, and that they were just left confused by it. And without seeing the series for another few years, I would cite this review once or twice as a reason the show was bad and that I didn’t want to watch it. At that time in my life I was the Gundam fan meme of completely missing the point. I liked Wing Gundam because of the cool action and its message went sailing over my head. Luckily I did one day watch the show for myself (shortly before the Rebuild series began) and I liked it but didn’t fully “get” it at the time. Now being much older, and having consumed much more media and being a lot better versed in the film theory, craft, and how to understand what I watch, maybe I’m ready to actually glean things for myself from this show. I feel like my watch will be richer for having seen your series (up to this point) since I will already have a small repertoire of lessons and concepts to keep an eye out for and to look for other connective tissue that links to new ideas I can find laying within the show. I don’t think you’ve mentioned it in the videos themselves, so I gotta ask. Are you gonna be covering End of Evangelion and the Rebuild movies as well, or does your analysis end with the original 26 episodes?

Hi bro, I liked this video and I watched your content sometimes because I liked Evangelion but now I'm going to say goodbye to watching this franchise, it's just that I feel like I failed horribly. My favorite was Asuka and since I entered the internet fandom or forums several times they expressed themselves in a bad way about her and I feel like they didn't understand her, they even attacked me for being my favorite (until now it hurts me to see them hate her). It doesn't help that his seiyu's career was not so successful, nor that many say that he is the worst character, much less that in rebuild he is practically another character, For this and other things, I failed when watching Evangelion and anime in general. This is my first time writing this here and I feel kind of stupid writing this lol but I wanted to get this out before the end of this year. If you have any advice to give me, I invite you to write normally

What about the SA? Throwing herself over adults in a sxual way, and craving sxual validation while also being emotionally distant to anyone that could sincerely care about you, is fairly common in kids that have survived SA. That theme is also repeated in the text flashes.

this might be an insane overanalysis but i would even go as far as to say that the sniffing heard during the elevator scene is asuka trying to draw attention to herself. trying to appear aloof, she doesn't want to be the first to break the silence, but at the same time, she is also desperate for attention, so she makes a sound to try and elicit any acknowledgment whatsoever from rei. source: my anxious attachment style
