Time will tell. It's definitely struggling at the box office so far. 120 million globally on a 250 million budget plus around 100 marketing. Given the studios only get half of the box office, they are on 60 mil back from a 350 mil investment. That said, there is still time for it to claw some of that back and everything then gets impossible to calculate once it goes to streaming. I can definitely see how this will get a lot of views then so it may well turn into a success for them. Then it's a question of whether or not that streaming success is big enough to sink another $350 mil into a sequel. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

Im glad they benefiting from nepotism which european-americans in hollywood have benefited for a very long time. It's always noticeable when a black man does it huh? Even if they dont win an award, we don't care. All we value is our stories are told by us, for us. We dont expect you to understand. Nevertheless, we stand behind our stories told by our own people. You cant tell a family of filmmakers not to do a film together simply because you would feel some type of way. THE PIANO LESSON, best film ever- award or no award, that dont add value or devalue the message, the rich BLACK culture it carries, and the work they put in. I hope you get well from the hate my boi!!

I agree. It was good, not great. I think Mescal was a bit of a miscast. He wasn’t bad, but he didn’t elevate the movie either. I don’t think he exuded the rage that we kept being told he had (in fact, it wouldn’t shock me if Scott made Denzel keep saying Mescal’s character was full of rage because Mescal wasn’t showing it enough). I think someone like Austin Butler would have made this movie much better.

It's a 2 hr 30 stage show turned into around a 5 hr film (part 1 and 2). It was trying to be Yellowstone, but never really built up the characters backstory or let the characters develop and the lack of emotion from the actors or lack of emotional scenes really lets the show down, like the angry patriarch, we get he’s angry and doesn’t like people but at least give his characters bit more depth and show us what he does love. The lack of police in any form in the series really annoyed me a man dies and we see nothing, shoot outs happen and still no police, at least Yellowstone had corrupt cops that added another challenge to the whole series.
