I have a 2001 1500 and it is the best bike I have ever had! Mine has the stock exhaust as well, but it does not sound that good! What modifications did you do to it? Thanks

Is it supposed to sound like a Harley?
@colinbarr21306 ай бұрын
I don't know what Harley you're talking about, but that's clearly hitting on four cylinders and not two. I agree it sounds pretty good though
@colinbarr21306 ай бұрын
Sorry in correction I meant six cylinders. I didn't even realize that was a 1500. You can hear the multiple cylinders firing
@colmaniac5 ай бұрын
@@colinbarr2130 Lol sounds nothing like, in a high gear in low rev you can hear the flat 6, almost the same as the v8 thump.

yea only issue is the gearbox are weak, also sourcing parts is hard, and getting anyone to service them as well. Spent a month trying to find a garage that can replace both tyres, also the rear tyre is only limited to 2 available as a special order and not standard stock tyres.

I have really long legs and every bike I sit on makes me feel like I'm eating my kneecaps. Is it true the wide glide might be the best bike for long legged riders? I know they shortened the newest wide glides but maybe the 93-08 would work? Any advice?

They do help. But I'm 6 foot 250 lbs with a 31 inseam. Bum knee forced me to have the seat cut back about 1.5 inches. If you have never used forward controls, it only takes a few minutes to get used to them.

I saw a video of an East Bay riders group that do Harleys and half the trip was breaking down on the side of the freeway, etc... I am not into that. I want to RIDE, not WALK. Yamaha rules.

I am so lucky to have a 97 with 10,000 miles on it that I have personalized with flat style super bike bars, a master cylinder with a smaller piston that fits the flat style bars ( gives much more power and sensitivity to the front braking capability), and Galfer stainless steel braided teflon brake lines. Those two mods to the brakes in front transform the braking power and feel in these Viragos. Stock brakes were designed to be weaker than they could be due to Japanese engineers designing them to fit the abilities of the targeted rider, an older rider who could/would never use more powerful brakes. Easy fix and along with progressive springs in the forks, I added a heavier fork oil to slow down front end dive. Also did some intake track mods to get rid of the bugs on the side of the engine. Love my Virago!
