What if you making a tote bag and want the bottom really hard to carry the weight of groceries. The sides will not have any stiffener

Usually tote shopping bags don't have hard bottoms except bamboo or raffia bags that have wooden bottoms. But if you want yours to have a solid base, you can use really thick cellulose paper.

If I remember correctly, most travel/sports bags have thick cellulose(Kari board) inside but this us usually sealed in black waterproof material to prevent the cellulose paper from getting wet.

@@covenantalfredepelle494 Yes you can use butterfly machine for leather bags depending on the thickness of the bag. Basic tools are cutting knifes, scissors, mercury pen, angle ruler, straight ruler, cutting mat/board, clips , adhesive

When working with thicker and/or stiffer materials, binder clips are very valuable.
