Hey there! Thanks for your comment. I'm working on a new video that’ll cover PC builds for editing, and it’ll drop in just a couple of weeks-so stay tuned for that🚀 But to quickly help out in the meantime, here’s what I’d say about those two builds: Both are solid options, but it depends on what you’re editing and how demanding your workflows are. The i5-14400 with the RTX 4060 or RX 6700XT would be the better option for most editing tasks, especially if you're dealing with 4K footage or plan to use GPU-accelerated tools like DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro. The RTX 4060 or RX 6700XT will give you more power for rendering and playback compared to the RTX 3060. As for the cooling, I’d recommend going for a 240mm liquid cooler for better thermal performance, especially if you’re pushing your CPU hard with long export sessions. Also, the 650W PSU is a nice choice-make sure it’s from a reliable brand and has an 80 Plus certification. Keep an eye out for the new video; I’ll go into more detail and break it all down. Let me know if you’ve got more questions-I’m always happy to help! Cheers, Craig

Would i be able with ryzen 5 5600H, rtx 3050 (4gb) and 16 gb ram
@utopiacomputers24 минут бұрын
That’s a solid setup! 🎉 The Ryzen 5 5600H and RTX 3050 with 16GB of RAM can handle After Effects pretty well for most tasks, like editing and basic animations. For more complex compositions or heavy effects, you will notice it slow down quite a bit, especially with only 4GB of VRAM. If that happens, just keep an eye on your preview settings and render in smaller chunks-it’ll make things much smoother! Let me know how you get on and thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Craig

@chobiwala_byomkesh Thanks so much for the kind words-really glad you enjoyed the video! 🙌 It sounds like you’ve got a lot of creative talents-2D, graphic design, video editing, and now 3D? That’s awesome! The 98003D with the 4070 Ti Super is a solid choice, but if you’re looking for something a little less expensive, consider a system with the Ryzen 7800X3D or Intel i7-13700K paired with an RTX 3060 Ti or 4060. This combo should still handle 2D work, video editing, and even 3D learning well, but at a friendlier price point. Feel free to drop any more questions if you have them-happy to help you level up your rig! Cheers, Craig

8GB of memory is not enough in a GPU, 12GB is better and that's an AMD 6700XT, it's all you need. While the NVidia may be better at gaming the AMD is better for image editing. As of today as Intel are not able to produce a CPU that works properly, it would be better not to recommend them. A Nvme on a PCIE GEN4 board will be much faster when its got a direct link to the CPU, this is normally the Pcie slot above the GPU slot, Nvme Pcie gen4 5000 mb/s are fine for 24 mpix sensors with RAW files at around 30 mb but 45 mpix sensors and above may benefit from the more expensive 7000 mb/s when transfering files, that means if you work in image editing on drive C and transfer to a image storage only drive, say drive D, then both drives need to be fitted to Pcie lines direct to the CPU and both Pcie slots for Nvme drives need to have Nvme gen 4 or 5 drives of the same read and write speeds, this will then give a really fast PC when transfering or going from RAW to tiff or similar, and yes I would rather use AMD 7 7900X as its single core can run up to 5.4ghz, it has 76mb cache and 12 cores, all for a reasonable price. Memory on the motherboard if you can afford it needs to be 32gb and as fast as you can afford. If you use a Pcie 4 motherboard then the CPU, GPU, MEMORY, Nvme drives must all be Pcie 4 and gen 4 or the slower unit will limit the speed, so a Nvme gen3 drive will slow down everything. One other thing to note, some motherboards have what's called Daisy chained memory tracks, these are the links between the processor CPU and the memory, Daisy chained boards need all 4 slots of memory filled and they need to be matched identical memory, this also speeds up the process of moving large amounts of images in block transfers.

Thanks for the detailed insights, Derek! I love it when the community shares knowledge like this-your points are spot on. 😊 You’re absolutely right about 12GB GPU memory and 32GB system RAM-these are fast becoming the standard for smooth workflows, especially for high-res editing. I’ll definitely reflect this in the 2025 update to the guide. The AMD 6700XT is a great pick for Photoshop, and the Ryzen 7 7900X is a powerhouse for single-core performance and multitasking. I also appreciate your breakdown of PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drives and the importance of matching speeds for optimal file transfers-an often-overlooked detail! Thanks again for sharing your expertise-contributions like these make this community awesome 🙌 Cheers, Craig

I was thinking to build a PC, I want to do large projects can you tell me this will be enough to run it smooth? 1) ryzen 7 7700X 2) 4070 12gb 3) B650M motherboard 4) 16gb ram 5) 1tb ssd
@utopiacomputers20 күн бұрын
Hi there! Your planned build looks solid, especially for large projects in Unreal Engine 5, but let’s tweak it slightly to ensure a smoother experience for demanding tasks. Here's my take: Ryzen 7 7700X - Great choice! The 7700X is powerful and perfect for UE5 workflows. If you can stretch your budget, consider the Ryzen 9 7900X for even better multi-threaded performance, but the 7700X will do well. RTX 4070 12GB - A strong GPU for UE5 features like Lumen and Nanite. You’re good here for most large projects and some gaming on the side. B650M Motherboard - Reliable and cost-effective! Ensure it has the connectivity and expansion slots you need, especially if you plan to add more storage or a second GPU. 16GB RAM - This might be your biggest bottleneck. UE5 loves RAM, especially with large projects. I’d strongly recommend upgrading to 32GB for smoother performance and fewer hiccups when working with high-poly assets or multiple applications. 1TB SSD - A good start, but UE5 projects (especially with assets and textures) quickly consume storage. Consider adding a secondary SSD for project files, or go for a 2TB SSD upfront if your budget allows. This build is close to ideal, but bumping the RAM and possibly adding more storage will help you future-proof it for large, complex projects. Feel free to let me know if you need specific part recommendations or advice on assembly! Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting! Means the world, and hope to drop more videos soon! Craig

Apart from PC, can you recommend any laptop like legion or asus . Since I want portability because I dont want to add lot of hardwares since I am travelling. My usecase is developing on unreal and playing games sometimes. Also can you recommend mac pro laptops which can cover these
@utopiacomputers20 күн бұрын
Hi @RaviYadav_Dev, great question! If portability is key, a high-performance laptop like the Lenovo Legion Pro or the Asus ROG Zephyrus is an excellent choice for Unreal Engine 5 development and gaming...I've also got to mention Utopia's custom laptops - utopiacomputers.co.uk/pages/laptops These laptops are equipped with Intel i9 CPUs, at least 32GB of RAM, and Nvidia RTX 4070 or better GPUs, which can handle UE5 features like Nanite and Lumen without breaking a sweat. Plus, you’ll appreciate the larger screens and better thermals when working on complex projects. As for MacBook Pros, the M2 Pro and Max models are solid, but there are trade-offs. Unreal Engine 5 does run on macOS, but as you mentioned, there are issues with Nanite tessellation and limited marketplace plugin support. If you're primarily developing for macOS/iOS platforms, a MacBook Pro could be worth considering. However, a PC-based laptop offers better compatibility and performance for cross-platform or Windows-exclusive projects. In short, for UE5 and gaming, a high-spec Windows laptop is still the way to go. But if you’re locked into the Apple ecosystem, the MacBook Pro (16-inch with M2 Max) would be the best bet for its power and portability-just be prepared to work around some limitations. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more specifics. Thanks for watching and commenting, it means a lot! Cheers, Craig

If you are serious about getting into Unreal Engine and use Megascans assets. I just want you to know, I downloaded one Nanite boulder the size of a car and it took 4GB of my storage from that one asset. I would definitely recommend minimum 4TB of storage. If you are a professional you most likely have split workspace and private drive states and 2TB is fine because you are off-loading projects to a mechanical drive later when said project is finished.
@utopiacomputers24 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for your insight-it’s super helpful for anyone diving into Unreal Engine! You’re absolutely right: those Megascans assets can be massive. A single Nanite boulder munching through 4GB? That's wild. 🪨 For anyone serious about Unreal, planning your storage setup is crucial. I love your point about having a split workspace and offloading finished projects to a mechanical drive-that’s such a pro move and a great way to keep costs down while staying efficient. If you’re just starting out, I’d say don’t let storage overwhelm you. Start with what you can afford-say 2TB of NVMe SSD for active projects-and as you grow, you can always add more storage for archival. The key is getting into the flow and creating consistently rather than getting too bogged down in the perfect setup from day one. Thanks again for sharing this gem of advice! You’re adding loads of value to the community here - Cheers, Craig

speaking of laptops, when you say about this same drive allocation user scenario for different needs, it's still the same even if they are partitions of the same disks right? because in laptops i think, for storage, there are only 2 slots available (which are both m.2nvme). so, i can allocate three partitions in any combination from these 2 ssds for substituting those primary(to install softwares), secondary(to store files) and third scratch disks(for PS ) (about which being talked in the video) right ? just wanted to clear. Thanks Craig.
@utopiacomputers24 күн бұрын
Hey, great question! Yes, you can absolutely use partitions on the same SSDs to substitute for the primary, secondary, and scratch disks in Photoshop. Remember that having separate physical drives for the scratch disk gives better performance since Photoshop won’t compete for resources on the same drive. With two NVMe slots, I’d recommend dedicating one SSD to your OS and software and the other split between file storage and a scratch disk if possible. Hope that helps and thanks for watching and commenting - it really helps our channel and the community. Cheers, Craig

@utopiacomputers24 күн бұрын
Hey, great question and solid setup! The 5700X3D is an amazing upgrade for $200, especially with its 3D cache-it’s a beast for rendering and simulation tasks in Unreal Engine. That said, moving to a DDR5 system with the 7500F and high-speed RAM will future-proof your build for Unreal Engine 5 and beyond. For $340, it’s a solid investment. If you’re considering DDR5, you might also want to check out AMD’s new 9000 series chips. They’re bringing impressive performance gains, and depending on pricing in your region, they could be worth stretching the budget for an even bigger leap. Both paths are strong, but if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck right now, the 5700X3D is hard to beat. Let me know what you go for 🙌 Cheers and thanks for the kids words, Craig

Again, I have an AMD RX 6600 8 GBI installed it for VGA. when I started having problems with lightroom and then when I asked for help from the Adobe community, many of them advised me from personal experience that Nvidia would be perfect for Adobe products. Now I have borrowed an Asus GTX 2060 6GB from my friend and am using it. It works great. Hi there! In fact, we specifically recommended looking for one with 8GB of VRAM, as this has become the standard for many modern applications like Lightroom and Photoshop. We use both Photoshop and Lightroom daily, so we’re very familiar with the requirements of these programs. That’s why we suggested the RTX 4060 with 8GB of VRAM as it’s a great choice for handling those workloads effectively especially with AI masking. @@Sunandshine51Intel is being delisted from the DOW because of how low their stocks got, that tells you a lot about their products lately, go with the 9950X.

When the price doesn't matter which one is better for UE5. An Ryzen 7950X or 7950X3D?

If money isn't a concern then opting for the X3D would be our choice as it is an overall better CPU for many applications. - Ryan

Thanks! Very helpful video, I appreciate it. I'm thinking about building a pc by my self for the first time. I've tried to research as much as I could and I was wondering if my components are compatible or if there is something I should swap out for something else or think about. My picks as of now is: * CPU: Ryzen 5 9600x (216£) / (280$) * GPU: RX 7900 gre (500£) / (655$) * Motherboard: msi MAG Tomahawk wifi (158£) / (205$) * RAM: DDR5 2x16 gb (65£) / (84$) * Cooling: Thermalight Aqua Elite 360 V3 (65£) / (84$) * Storage: 2TB ssd NVMe Gen 4 (125£) / (163$) * Case: Lian Li LANCOOL 216 (94£) / (122$) *Power: 750W 80 PLUS Bronze (68£) / (88$) A total cost of about 1290£ or 1680$ Is there anything I've missed or could do differently. Is the rx 7800 xt worth it at the cost of 40£ / 57$ less (in my country)? I would be so thankful if you could help me, I feel quite lost.

Hello! Thank you so much for the kind words! Looking at the specs there are a few options that might increase your performance, most notably the CPU. The 9600X would be more than capable of handling UE5 with no issues however, you might find any CPU intensive plug-ins or parts of UE5 will slow down your system. The good news is you can always test with the 9600X and see how sell it handles your usecase, and if need be you can always upgrade to a faster chip later on down the line. Overall it's a great system to get your started especially all the other components. - Ryan

@ Thanks for the advice! Yes I am pretty conflicted about the CPU. Thinking a R7 9700x may be a better option for about 100$ more. Thanks again, I will definetly subscribe after this!

Quick question: Will 3ds max version 2024 run on windows 8.1? No matter where I look I cannot find the answer as to whether it’ll work or not. Thanks. I’m still on max 2022 and have been using max for 23 years now. I’m just a hobbyist though. I started on version 4 back in 1999.😂

Thanks for getting in touch! Looking at the requirements for 2024 you will need to have Windows 10 or 11 in order to run the application. Thankfully you should be able to upgrade to Windows 10 or 11 through the Windows updates, or if you are log into your Microsoft account on your machine now, if you reinstall Windows 10 or 11, your license key tied to your account will activate windows automatically. I hope this helps :) - Ryan

Expect extremely poor performance. -Texture streaming pool over budget Can you please tell me reason? OR Upgrade withing the above specs?

Thanks for getting in touch! Looking at your specs it would seem the GPU is your downside, as not only does it come with 4GB of VRAM the RTX 3050 mobile chip wouldn't be powerful enough to handle most of UE5s demands. Sadly with most laptops you're stuck with core components such as the CPU and GPU meaning the only way to upgrade would be to purchase another more powerful laptop. - Ryan
