I don’t know if but this one or viltrox 24 1.2 pro…
@IliasKoureasКүн бұрын
The viltrox 27mm is the better lens. But it also coats 2-3 times more and is really large. Can't really compare the two. If you don't care about the money and the size go for the viltrox

I would recommend getting a Megadap etz21 pro adapter and a Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 lens

I owned the Nikon 40 mm f2.0 first and after trying the Viltrox 40 mm f2.5 and liking it, decided to keep both. Dustin Abbott, a Canadian YTer reviewed both lenses and at the end of his review stated (paraphrased), "that he would have a difficult time choosing if someone told him he could only keep one of the two lenses." I really appreciated his honesty when he made that statement, and that comment helped me decide to spend a bargain amount of money to buy the Viltrox and use it alongside the Nikon version. I really appreciated your honesty and integrity in this review.

There are definitely no wrong decisions here. The viltrox is incredible for its price. That level of sharpness on a 150$ full frame lens was unheard of a few years ago. Thanks for the comment Paul, merry Christmas 🎄

Hi Ilias you didnt say much about 12-28. I was thinking of getting that instead 16-50 with z50ii. But maybe I'll get the kit lens and start with that. One thing you could consider is 17-28 f2.8 full frame. I think that is below 1000 and might work great for apsc almost like 25 to 42.
@IliasKoureas2 күн бұрын
Can't say much about the 12-28. It's a good lens especially if you are vlogging or do ultra wide landscape/street photos 😅 The 17-28mm is a really good option if you decide to go full frame in the future. If not then i don't think it's worth it just to use it on apsc bodies.

Nice! I recently got a Nikon Zf and I'm looking to aquire a second backup body, that's affordable and takes my Z mount lenses. Honestly, I’m leaning towards the Nikon Z5, but with the recent price drops the Z6ii is not much more and is appealing also. Nearly everyone I've spoken to who actually owns a Z5, LOVES it. I love my Zf, but I want something that will act as a more ergonomic and compact backup. I shoot portraits and headshots and an occasional family session. I don't need speed, and I don’t plan on doing video with this backup. I played with a Z5 in the store a bit and it felt really nimble and great to use. In use, I couldn’t really tell much difference between the Z5 and Z6ii. Both nice. Would you recommend the Z5 as a backup to my Zf? I know it’s not as technically advanced or fast but I don’t care. One look at the files the Z5 creates and I’m sold. Would you recommend the Z5 even now in 2024?
@IliasKoureas6 күн бұрын
For the type of work you are doing the z5 is more than enough as a backup. The only time I struggle with the z5 is with movement In low light situations. The fact that it's so small and light makes it also the perfect backup camera. I shot many weddings with this bad boy this year and the results are amazing. Next year I'll upgrade to the z6iii and keep the z5 as my second camera. Now that being said, if you can find a killer deal for the z6ii go for it. Just because of the better auto focus. Good thing is you can grab a z5 for dirt cheap on the used market. I'll make a detailed review about the positives and the negatives on it soon, but to answer your question. For portraits and slow paced jobs the z5 is great. Even for weedings as a backup or main camera during the whole day (except the reception, cause it struggles I in low light) . The moment you use this camera in low light prepare to have about 60-70% of pictures tack sharp and even slower af lock on. I shot over 20 weddings with it , I tested it thoroughly in even more professional situations and this is my conclusion.
@babyboy19715 күн бұрын
@ when you say low light what light do you mean? Candies? Or dim room? Outside at night? Dim venues?
@IliasKoureas5 күн бұрын
@babyboy1971 anything. From dark venues to dark streets. Of course every camera struggles more in these situations but the z5 struggles even more.

Did buy the Z50II couple days ago with the two set lenses, really like the 250mm zoom for Bird pictures. Did also buy the Viltrox AF 56mm F/1.7 for 150 Euro and let me tell you this thing is amazing! It has no stabilisation, but the Picture is sharp, Bokeh is incredible. I highly recommend this lens, especially for Portraits and Street-photographi and Animal Pictures. Cheers

Thanks for a great vid and list of lenses! While I have a Z7ii as my astro, cityscape/landscape/nightscape stuff, I also have a Z30 that I use for travel/hiking/biking. I also recently ordered a Z50ii that I want to pair with my Z30 when traveling and during outdoor activities. I am looking to add a superzoom to my DX kit, so I am looking at the Tamron 50-400mm. I think it'll pair well with my 16-50 and would be a good alternative to my 50-250 if I want to 'go longer' than 250 (375 vs 600 equivalent). I realize it's a bit over your $1000 mark, but not terribly far over.

As a pro, I bought this camera as a travel camera. I can not forsee myself on a cruise ship with my D800 or D3, which I still use since new. This is my first mirrorless. I did buy the f mount lens adapter but would still like smaller lenses. At some point I'll let my D800 go and look at the Z8...
@IliasKoureas15 күн бұрын
Exactly my point. Traveling with a large camera is always a pain, and these larger sensors usually come with larger lenses. That's a no for me personally. The z8 is tempting though ,I'll get that or the z6iii for my weddings.

Hey Ilias, I am getting itchy feet with my D3400 and I am in two minds whether to upgrade my lens, or to go mirrorless. Ideally I want to have a camera that has great autofocus and eye tracking. Is that something like Zfc would do the job? Any ideas or recommendations?
@IliasKoureas18 күн бұрын
Go mirrorless. You will never look back. The zfc has great eye AF , I shoot all my videos on it and it never misses me. Price on the used market is great too. If you are going to buy new , the z50ii is the slightly better option (there are better cameras around 1k from other companies but I prefer the Nikon workflow and that's why I recommend buying used to also save some money)

Hello Llias and thank you for your channel it is great, I also use the Zfc and bought it immediately it was released in Canada. I use the 18-140 mostly and occasionally a manual Zeiss Tessar 2.8/45 which is a beautiful vintage lens. I also have the kit lens 16-50mm and a MEKE 85mm. We are going to Italy in March and after looking at your video would you recommend I use the TTArtisan 56mm f1.8 as an addition lens? I love to shoot the architecture and landscape of the places we visit and could practice in Toronto to get used to the 56. I am an amateur but usually get a few shots worthy of printing and framing. Thanks again for your channel.
@IliasKoureas15 күн бұрын
Hello James 👋 Great kit you got there. I especially love the addition of the Zeis Tessar. Beautiful piece of glass. Personally for traveling if I had to bring with me a fast prime it would be something around the 35mm FF focal length. So I would say that maybe the Nikon 24mm is the best option for traveling. Let me explain. You cover many different focal lengths with your zoom lenses so for traveling the 24mm will capture more of the scenery from the 56mm. You might be thinking that the 56mm will create more bokeh but why have bokeh in your portraits when traveling? The point is to get environmental portraits or Street photos with your primes. Blurring out the background won't help with anything in this case. Imagine being in front of the Eiffel tower in Paris and the tower itself is out of focus and lost in the bokeh/background. So personally when I travel I only bring wide primes with me and leave the portrait lenses behind cause I cover these focal lengths with my kit lenses anyway. Hope that makes sense 😂😅

I am much older than you and the first topic you talked about is an old Nikon's problem. They simply see dx format as budget zone for photography starters and do not want to compromise FX lineup by making dx more powerful. And this was maybe true before when we had SLR's and there was not smartphones. But keeping that policy today make no sense because people would rather by high end smartphone than DX camera even if quality is slightly worse but compactness and connectivity is much much better.

Though fujifilm is more popular for its "simulation" and I also used many fuji cameras, I still turn to Zfc as my street camera(for work or video I use Sony and Lumix). Nikon just always gives me the clear feeling: it is reliable and you can trust it. The quality of finish, the logic of operation, the wide dynamic range... You can just pay for it and focus on Shooting itself. Btw. Great video and Great review Bro.❤
