I am thinking of going with either 24-120 f4 lens or 18-140 DX f3.5-6.3 lens for my Z50. I am a hobbyist and don't do any professional work. I want to take good pictures during travel and photograph moving toddlers. Also want good portraits capability. I am not too concerned about the wide angle focal length. Will the lack of VR on the 24-120 be a big issue? The concern I have with 18-140 is the f6.3 aperture at the longer end. Which one would you recommend? Thanks
@IliasKoureas8 сағат бұрын
if you ever plan on going full frame get the 24-120. If not then i feel like that this lens is not wide enough for travel photography. Id get the 18-140mm Yes its a bit slower but its also cheaper , you get more reach and more wide perspectives. And at 140mm you can also get nice bokeh due to the compression.

Ilias, big big question...other reviewers mention that the 28mm would be a 35-40ish equivalent in full frame, but it IS an aps-c lens, so...whats up with that? I do understand the difference between APS-C and FF, but it would still behave like a 28mm for the APS-C, correct? I ask this because currently, I'm using the F mount AF-S DX 35mm 1.8 with FTZ adapter, but wanted to buy a wider focal length. The 35mm is 35mm in my Nikon Z fc, so this TTArtisan would be a 28mm as well...right?? Sorry if the question is dumb but I'm getting quite confused with how people around explain it, and if it's going to produce images with a similar focal length to my AF-S DX 35mm, then there's no point in getting it...right? Correct me if I'm wrong, please 😵💫 Love your content, keep the Zfc going, man!
@IliasKoureas9 күн бұрын
Hey mate. This was very confusing for me as well for many years so I get your confusion 😅 Every lens that you use on apsc gives a x1.5 equivalent in terms of full frame. So what you are seeing with a 28mm DX lens is what you would see on a 40mm on full frame. It doesn't matter if the lens is apsc or not. The only reason they are labeled as apsc lenses is because they are designed to cover a smaller sensor. So if you put them on full frame you will have large spots of darkness in the corner's.

BEST wide lens is: Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR 10mm!!! Its F mount but, work greats on my z50 (has autofocus) and its wider that any other. Also, its cheap and its not an old lens.
@IliasKoureas13 күн бұрын
Its a really good option if you have an adaptor. Cheap in the used market too. Good glass But, i'll never recommend to people to spend even more on an adaptor just to use older lenses. I hate adaptors because they make my camera bigger and my workflow slower. But thats just me. Many of friends have and use the lens you recommend :)
@diegomontana111112 күн бұрын
@@IliasKoureas Thanks for your answer! In my case the FTZ adapter came with the camera when I bought it. In case you already have the adapter, this lens is a very good option, it works perfectly and gives you that extra 2mm that the ''powerzoom 12-28'' doesn't have, those 2mm are noticeable... I think Nikon urgently needs to launch a 10mm wideangle and a fish-eye for the Z (DX) system. WE NEED IT!!!! :_) Great video!

Would it not be a good idea to buy full frame lenses when you can over crop sensor in case you upgrade in future?
@IliasKoureas15 күн бұрын
If you plan on doing it professionally then yes it's a good idea to invest early in full frame glass. I personally have 2 full frame lenses. If not then apsc is more than enough. Cheaper and smaller
