.... so in the end everyone was happy because Tucci brought material from Tibet and placed in the museum in Rome. Sorry, I am raising it here but when are these paintings going to be repatriated? Bytheway we all respect Prof. Tucci as an academic who was a great scholar and source of many works which would not have been possible without him.

Tucci was one of the greatest explorers of the twentieth century. Such a depth of knowledge about Asia, the Himalayas, Tibet, India, he is one of my favorite men, an inspiration, a reference along with Sven Hedin and Heinrich Harrer. I think they embodied Julius Evola's definition of the aristocrat of the spirit, explorers of the unknown in the great European tradition.

I still have a small collection of netsuke that I bought at auction in 1972. Part of a famous collection, I even have the catalog that they came from. Amazing works of art but very few people care about them anymore sorry to say. The old ones are so life like the modern ones seem kind of flat one dimensional. This was a very nice discussion on these amazing little bits of art that was used nothing more than a button sort of.

Do you still have the collection of netsukes? Let me know if you ever think of selling any of them or even just letting someone seeing them. I'm a big fan of netsuke myself and I've collected a few pieces of them.
