You need to rewatch the episode. Thomas is not begging Jesus to heal Ramah, he was asking for her to be resurrected, as she was dead at that point. Nowhere in scripture does Jesus go around resurrecting everyone. John tells us that not everything Jesus did was recorded, you have no idea how many dead bodies Jesus walked by and did nothing. You seemed to have also missed the point of the opening scene with David pleading with the Lord to spare his child, that God answers some prayers and not others, sometimes the answer is no. You talk about Jesus standing close by and not doing anything, that it doesn’t ring true. Well, Jesus is standing right there next to all of us when loved ones are dying and we are pleading for it not to happen and God says no. You act like Jesus was just standing there feeling nothing as Thomas was suffering, well he wasn’t, they clearly showed that Jesus was hurting, sympathizing with Thomas, just like He does with us in similar situations. He is there for us even if our pain blinds us to the fact. So whether you liked the scene or not, it’s very true to life, because Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever. The Chosen also doesn’t just do stuff for shock value, it’s a multi season series, there are story arcs, it takes multiple episodes and seasons to see the full plan or picture. Just like a lot of people didn’t like it in season 2 when Peter started verbally attacking Matthew and was treating him badly, but we all saw this season the purpose of those scenes and how it perfectly highlighted the biblical teachings of repentance and forgiveness. The Chosen is playing the long game and I think you’ll just be cheating yourself out of seeing what the Lord can do because of a knee jerk reaction.
@PastorKevin8 күн бұрын
@@annme7638 Ramah was still alive when Jesus arrived on the scene. You can’t change or revise the scene. It is what it is. She spoke her last words to Thomas while Jesus stood 10 feet away and did nothing. You couldn't pay me enough to watch that episode again.
@annme76388 күн бұрын
@ I’m not revising anything. I never said she was dead when Jesus arrived, I said she was dead when Thomas made his request to Jesus. And just as He does today, Jesus does not step in and fix everything before or even after we ask Him to, but He is still right there with us. Do you think that Jesus loved Thomas more than He does us? What breaks our hearts, breaks His, but He does not always step in to stop our pain. God’s ways are not our ways, He doesn’t need to or may never will let us know why He allows what He does. The point is to, like David, to continue to trust and praise the Lord anyway. There is a reason why the Chosen bookends the episodes the way they do. They are illustrating biblical Truths.
@PastorKevin8 күн бұрын
@ I just re-watched the scene on KZbin. Jesus stands 10 feet away and watches her and Thomas as she dies, and says nothing to Ramah or Thomas while she breathes her last breath. I find that cold, cruel, and callous and completely antithetical to the real Jesus. Never in the Bible does Jesus stand by and physically watch someone die and say and do nothing. (the death of John the Baptist doesn’t count because Jesus was not physically near John when he was executed) I still have no desire to watch The Chosen anymore. I don’t need this cruel Jesus when I know the real Jesus. Thank you for commenting. Take care.
@annme76388 күн бұрын
@ So you believe that Jesus is cold, cruel, and callous because He stands by today and watches someone die and doesn’t do anything about it??? Because He stands by and watches us suffer today, doesn’t necessarily comfort us in the moment and doesn’t do anything about it, even though He has all the power to change it??? I don’t care if you watch the show or not, but if you believe that about Jesus, you have a bigger issue. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus doesn’t somehow care less for us today than He did for the people He walked the earth with.

This incident is sensational, but the problem is more widespread in modern society than most people are aware. Studies have shown that women, after having experienced more than 4 or 5 bedroom partners lose their ability to pair bond.... permanently. It has to do with brain chemicals that occur. Divorce statistics when paired with number of partners women have had demonstrate the phenomenon as well. It is not the same for men due to different brain chemistry. The bible doesn't recommend women to be promiscuous and recommends that men stay away from promiscuous women. And for good reasons. It would seem science agrees. It would appear God designed us this way. We are supposed to pair bond during procreation to stay together to raise the offspring successfully. But, if anyone has been paying attention to current society and the younger generations, women being promiscuous is considered empowering and freeing. It is promoted, and anyone who disagrees is excoriated. Her body, her choice is the mantra. Women are running around trying to convince men that their past doesn't matter, when in fact, it is vitally important. Women, like children, do not know what is good for them. Fathers used to size up a potential suitor, but now they are cut out of the process completely and women choose the "bad boys". Broken homes without fathers and weak men have brought us here. Men are supposed to follow God and lead in a relationship, and women are supposed to follow men. Until this dynamic is restored, we can expect more of the same.

Sinners are like fish in water. They don't know until they are taught otherwise. Sleeping with 100 men is excessive but sleeping with anyone outside of marriage is also sinful. It is more acceptable in society but according to God/the Bible it is sin. Watching this stuff is sinful. The people and organizations that profit off this stuff are just plain wicked. The world propagates these sinful lifestyles. The devil is a thief that comes to steal, kill and destroy. He has billions rushing towards hell. It is easy to spot those guilty of egregious sins but harder for the moral folks amongst us. Healthy people do not do OF or any other porn stuff. Only broken people do this and it breeds more brokenness. Self righteousness and pride are soul killers as well and more deceptive because the guilty person thinks compared to others they are doing better. All of our sins are an offense to a Holy God first and foremost. Pride is a direct challenge to the authority of God over His creation, us being His creation. Being promiscuous is obviously nothing to be proud of but Jesus did come to save sinners. I feel sorry for these folks that don't understand the internet lives forever. I am just grateful that God is greater than our sins and can rescue/redeem anyone that will repent of their wicked ways and follow him.

I agree it was a ridiculous to go beyond what was written in that way. I think that scene helps us see the difference between Jesus and humans since Jesus wouldn't have acted that way. I do think However Jesus was close to the time of his death and a powerful display of healing of imminent death in front of masses like that in front of many powerful people would have sped up Jesus false conviction. Just a little while later Jesus raised Lazarus which instigated events leading to Jesus own death. In fact they wanted to kill Lazarus too. (John 12:10, 11)

The way I see it, if you look at how Thomas treats others while Ramah is around, he seems overly attached. For example, verbally attacking Matthew in Season 2 episode 5 because he *thinks* that Matthew is looking at her. Most of the time, Thomas is focused on Ramah instead of Jesus. So, maybe they had Jesus wait so that way Thomas could focus on God.
@PastorKevin29 күн бұрын
@@jimthescrub So you’re saying Jesus intentionally chose to let Ramah die (thereby breaking Thomas’s heart and Ramah’s father’s heart) because Thomas wasn’t giving Jesus enough attention.
@jimthescrub28 күн бұрын
@@PastorKevin I don't want to start an argument, but I will say this. My dad died when I was 14. When he was around, I felt forced to go to church and wanted to do other things. But, when he passed away, only then was I comfortable and able to actually come to Jesus. Also, keep in mind that Ramah is not a real character, so even with her dying, the outcome doesn't really have a shift. If we were to react in this way every time someone died, nobody would follow Jesus. It's trials and testing that produce gold and character, not inattentiveness. God bless.

Would you deni Jesus based on your own understanding? Personally I think there is so much garbage you could be out there watching, but this show does at least try to catch so much in such a small scene. But what could be said to a follower of Jesus, a mother who losses her child? I think your own understanding is getting in the way of what the father could want. The bible teaches us about Martyrs too. She died believing in him.
