I think echoes of wisdom was able to strike a decent balance between openness and linearity, but it was also a much smaller game than whatever the next 3D Zelda game will likely be. But I still have hope that they'll be able to reign in a bit of the openness in the next game.

While I’m glad 2D is still a thing, I still have some issues with their ‘why do you want to go back’ as it now. 1) If we don’t want to go back, then why did we ‘go back’ to the same Hyrule? I admit, I didn’t actually want to explore it that much again. 2) While freedom is great, sometimes too much can ruin it. For me it was the fifth sage and how I skipped that long thunder sky land to start up the mission. (Could at least spread out keys around that sky island first) 3) Not every story can fit in this format. I got spoiled by the Light Dragon from a memory, within a memory. Though this can all be fixed for the next big 3D game, I just hope they don’t repeat the same mistakes if they truly want to continue moving forward.

I would play Ocarina first because every other 3D Zelda game has references to that specific title. Majora’s Mask is obviously a sequel with reused assets. Wind Waker has a lot of references and call backs to Ocarina that you won’t understand if you don’t play Ocarina first. And most of all you have Twilight Princess which borrows from Ocarina of Time more than any other game in the series. You also have Breath of the Wild which surprisingly has a lot of Ocarina of Time references and call backs as well. Ocarina of Time isn’t my personal favorite Zelda game but it’s the most important and the most iconic. A Link To The Past started the traditional Zelda formula by saving the princess, introducing the master sword, having unique magic spells, and the origins of numerous classic songs like Hyrule Castle Theme, Dark World, and Zelda’s Lullaby. Ocarina of Time took that formula and perfected it in a 3D space which changed the way people looked at the series forever.

My personal order that in my opinion gave me a perfect experience: - A Link To The Past - Link's Awakening - Ocarina Of Time - The Oracles Games (I played them at the same switching after each dungeon) - Majora's Mask - Wind Waker - Spirits Tracks - Skyward Sword - The Minish Cap - Four Swords - Twilight Princess - Four Swords Adventures - A Link Between Worlds - Triforce Heroes (worst zelda game ever) - Legend of Zelda - Link's Adventure - Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition - Breath of The Wild - Hyrule Warriors Age Of Calamity Tears of The Kingdom would be next to play

I'm interested in starting with the 2D top down pov. So I'll be looking at Minish Cap and Link to the Past Thoughts on which one is better including the best storyline?

Every game provides enough backstory to be enjoyed as a stand-alone game. With that, I'd need to know about the person's personality and how much time they have on their hands each day to recommend a good game as their first. I have my favorites, but my favorites aren't everyone's favorites.
@JohnnyHikesSW3 ай бұрын
I wonder if this changes if we assume the person we're recommending the series to does not know how to use a controller going in

I think no gun run is only tricky in ME1. In ME2 and 3 on any difficulty other than insanity you can basically go gunless as an engineer without even trying. I think I might have used one clip of my pistol in each game last time I played as an engineer. On insanity I might have used and average of one pistol clip per mission.

I think a mixture of 3D traditional game and open world game will work well. Having open world but weapons don’t break and dungeons don’t have keys just more puzzles etc… to solve

Comparing Old Zelda games to Portal is not correct. Because Portal is a small puzzle game which takes a few hours to beat and doesn't outstay it's welcome. Plus, it doesn't outright lie to a player by telling him that he needs to explore. Zelda games on the other hand can take up to 60 hours to beat. And they give a player illusion of freedom and tell him to explore the locations. But the thing is. Old Zelda games are as if Portal would have been stretched up to a 100 times without adding anything

Would love to see more Mass Effect challenges. Such as ME3 Starting pistol only Legendary. Would be up to you on whether you want to allow ammo mods. But this pistol is not good even upgraded. So if you want an extra hard challenge. No upgrading the pistol.

I didn't know you could get the mace at level 1! I thought you were going to grab the wabbajack first and use that to get either Malacath's hammer or Clavicus Vile's axe. (Which ate both awful, I know, but you can use them to level up to get the good artifacts)
