Both kalah and krav maga are great on the battlefield but not practical on the street as it will attract a gbh or abh charge.
@vaarkobke31022 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say so, Kalah puts a emphasis on de-escalation in the first principle, its something that's drilled into your head during training. And if someone pulls a knife on you or intends to do you serious bodily harm then its gloves off as far as I'm concerned. I'll worry about "don't die" before I'll worry about gbh or abh charges. I'm also wondering what you'd suggest as an alternative in regards to self defence, its not like actual violence is a pretty thing.

Kalah, Idan Abolnik and all of the Kalah Instructors are absolutely awesome in their understanding of the reality of actual combatives conditions and willingness to teach others practically effective self defense techniques. My question is based upon the knowledge of the necessity of controlling the knife weilding arm as rapidly and effectively as possible. However, my question is if someone encounters a knife weilding assailant who initially feints with the knife to one area of the body in an uncommitted attack or series of uncommitted attacks before executing the actual injurious attack what should the defender do? Should he try to parry the uncommitted diversionary attacks first and then implement the Kalah control against the actual potentially fatal knife weilding motion?

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Bad comparison for sure. I'm sorry, but this is crap. If idan stopped trying to separate himself from krav and just accept the fact that he is doing the same darn thing, maybe we could come together. This isn't the same intensity in resistance, there's no way you make someone fall that way ALL THE TIME. The best technique is the one that works at the time. I dont see this technique being better. I see this guy doing one technique like crap and another fine. Call it kalah, call it krav maga, call is kosher kung fu, it is what it is and this is no different. I have already told this to Idan. I am a 3rd generation israeli krav maga trainer, and I call bullshit on this!!!!
@lollys2galaxy3174 жыл бұрын
Kalah is just krav maga, no difference. Some are more tactical and operative. The real difference will always be the situation and the persons.

I’ve actually done a Krav Maga session with James in this video before a few years ago in Whitchurch Cardiff, I doubt he remembers me. We were training together and believe me our class was absolutely shit and shocking the instructor didn’t have a clue about a real fight or attack and old James in this vid has been a survivor of several knife attacks so I think he has a better idea than most of what works in these situations.

You know what you should do in this Situation? Give him the money your phone doesn’t matter, dont risk your life for a few bucks... there is no way you will win a fight against some one with a knife, its a 5% percentage chance to win the fight, its not worth it, only fight if you know he will kill you anyways..

Absolutely right! I do silat martial arts and we learn something similar but this is more realistic. When someone comes to you with a knife they are not going to be your friend or your sparing partner! They're sole purpose is to hurt you! Thank you for the realistic approach and good explanation. Will follow closely 👍🏼👍🏼

So I noticed on the kalah demo, that he full on grabs the knife by the blade.....Is this correct? Or was that an accident that should have been edited out?
@eppersonelectrical16214 жыл бұрын
And if it was intentional, could you maybe explain the rationale behind it? I do like the aggressive approach. I, myself, have been training 5 years in traditional Krav Maga and feel sometimes we lack reality based, aggressive training.
@jmx67184 жыл бұрын
@@eppersonelectrical1621 the technique doesn't include grabbing the knife. In reality you grab what you can, and you try to survive.
@petejitsuman90254 жыл бұрын
The reality of training , you may get cut , you may in the process of saving your own life grab the blade , mistake ? Maybe but everytime you train "under pressure" until you are tired , this may happen , it's not always the intention but the aim is to secure the knife .. Adrenalin can change focus , you will tend to rely more on gross motor skills , so keeping it basic , drill a lot , these videos will be realistic , that means not always perfect , hence , keep drilling

Having attended classes myself, realistic training is the only way. Rather bleed or be bruised during training, than die during an actual attack. The Kalah system is great, and training is of the highest standard.

So, trying to make sure I got this correct - in the first defense response he seemed to rely solely on pulling the arm away and muscling out of it - in the second escape attempt he grasped the arm holding the knife while simultaneously spinning out and taking the assailant down - yes? That is certainly effective, but I thought that is what most combatives systems are teaching - yes? No? That is what I learned and teach. I really like what I see of Kalah, which is very new to me. Wish it were taught in my area (Dallas area - Texas - USA). Thanks for the great content - please keep sharing.
