I was at the Marshall Point Lighthouse in April on a Sunday afternoon. I didn’t know at the time that this was the Forrest Gump lighthouse. If the museum were open, then I would have found this out. I wish I had more time to visit lighthouses in Maine, but they are difficult to get to and require backtracking. Not so on Cape Cod. It was wonderful to realize that the only lighthouse I visited in Maine appeared in Forrest Gump when Paramount Pictures could have chosen any other lighthouse on the Atlantic! Aloha from Kauai🌴, home of Kilauea Point Lighthouse.

You will just put your luggage at the rack? How can you be sure that no one will steal it?
@mandymundodietitian3 ай бұрын
You can’t be sure. But if they steal it, there’s nowhere for them to go, they can’t swim away with your bags. You just hope someone doesn’t take your bag as they’re getting off on their stop (if you’re still on for multiple stops). Plus, it’s Europe, and your bags are generally safe throughout traveling the continent.

thank you for your video and i have a question . Did you have cell reception on this route? Because the ship is close to places or do you have to order internet?
@mandymundodietitian4 ай бұрын
If memory serves me correctly……..on the way up to the fjords (first few days), they stayed close enough to the shore where we still had signal. But, on the way back (specifically on the day at sea), the ship was further away from shore so we didn’t have service. Hope that helps!

Maintaining the war memorials of the former USSR in Germany is a duty resulting from the Treaty about the German reunitification. I don’t know this about war memorials on Polish soil.
@mandymundodietitian5 ай бұрын
I didn’t explain it well in the video, but after the Küstrin rubble, we went back over the river into Germany. So the USSR memorial was on the German side, not the Polish side.

I'm thinking of doing Wwooffing in new zealand! How is the transport there? Was it easy/hard to get to the farms or did you have a car or something? :)
@mandymundodietitian6 ай бұрын
I did not have a car and did not want to pay for one, so I used bus or plane or train or ferry (I travelled all over the country). It was a little challenging, but nothing I couldn’t handle. I use rome2rio.com to figure out how to get from place to place and that would link me in with bus/transport schedules. The farmers will help you as well, tell you the best option of how to get there. For the first farm, I took a bus and they picked me up at the bus station. For the second farm, I took a plane and then a bus because I was coming all the way from the bottom of the North Island to the top, so that was better than an 8-hour bus ride, for me. One time I did have to walk for several hours to get to a city with a bus, but that’s because I was staying in the wine country, and I hitchhiked some of it. I hope you get to do it, Wwoofing is awesome!
@xGoldIrisx6 ай бұрын
@@mandymundodietitian Thank you for taking the time to answer so well! :) Great to hear that there is actually other options than buying a car. Whenever I'm googling this now, it seemed like car was the only option to go for. I'll explore the internet a bit more, but already great to hear that I can take a bus/transport as well for options. I don't mind the challenge!

Did you go at the start of the Month or nesr the End? (you Mentioned in a comment that it was in October) and how was the Weather in your trip?
@mandymundodietitian9 ай бұрын
It was at the very end of October, the snowmobile day was Oct 30. I would say the weather was bearable for our 5-day trip, cold but bearable. It’s funny because once it hit November 1 (we were back in Reykjavik by that time), it seemed like it got a lot colder. I would say October is still a great month to go though, just before it gets really cold.

Hi, thanks for this really useful video. I really wonder how big actually the upper rack. Is it as small as a cabin size luggage or can I fit a medium sized luggage there? I know this is some time ago but if you remember and can share, I would appreciate it so much
@mandymundodietitian Жыл бұрын
I just re-watched it myself (because I didn’t remember) but Jeremy and I both agree that you should be able to fit a medium sized luggage up there. It might just hang off the edge a little bit. Or, you could stand up the luggage on its side, but just be careful because it might fall down with the train movement. But, if it’s laying down and just hanging off the edge slightly, you should be ok. I hope this helps!

Do you know the speed of the snowmobile? Can a ten years old be frightened?
@mandymundodietitian Жыл бұрын
Since you would be the driver, you can go slow if you want. Jeremy drove, and he thinks it was about 15-20 mph. The workers won’t let you go fast. I would say no, a 10-year old shouldn’t be frightened. Especially since we had to stay in a single line and follow the tracks of the person in front of you, so it was a pretty smooth ride.

Excellent video. When you made the fish before the appetizer how did you keep the fish warm enough to eat? Also, does each person attending get to cook their own meal? Thank you
@mandymundodietitian Жыл бұрын
The fish was baked in foil packets after the skillet step. The workers took our fish away from us and then we didn’t see it again, so they actually finished off the cooking process so I think just a lower heat in the foil packets. Yes, everyone cooked their own meal and they labeled each so we knew which dish belonged to everyone when we finally ate it.
