I have a question. Cant you just skip going to aquilo and cheese the trip to the solar system edge with a big platform and lots of platform in storage to replenish destroyed? Does that not work or is the cheese "banned" for the speedrun leaderboards (but you could use it for in-game achievements for example)?
@oblivion_285217 сағат бұрын
The destination "solar system edge" is locked behind prometheum science and fusion research. It would only reduce the science requirements by 1500 for railgun

If you put a single wall directly in front of each railgun they can take the occasional impact that might otherwise have destroyed said railgun. For some reason (bug?) placing them on exactly that one tile they don't get shot off by the railguns.

For future runs, you do NOT need to be on the ship to win! I just now tested it to make sure :) I think a lot of people (speedrunners) have been going along on the ship just in case... Making others do the same. :)
@bjorn98756 күн бұрын
One thing I have been wondering about in these Default settings runs, why not ship a few labs + some science to Aquilo, so that once the last load of science is on it's way back to Nauvis for more "efficient" use, any additional science produced can also be consumed. Shouldn't that save a few seconds or minutes?
@oblivion_285217 сағат бұрын
Biolabs cannot be placed on surfaces besides nauvis. Biolabs more than double the effectiveness of any science produced. So consuming science on aquilo would be a waste of science production and would likely result in more inputs (holmium plate) to finish
@bjorn987511 сағат бұрын
@oblivion_2852 If there is enough spare materials, who cares about the waste? It's a Speedrun, so anything left over at the end is useless anyways. The question would be the time cost to get the extra materials to Aquilo vs the time saved by doing some research there.
@oblivion_285210 сағат бұрын
@@bjorn9875 download the world and check the science produced and consumed. He only produces the minimum to research all techs and the most effective way to do that is with biolabs which as I said... More than doubles the effectiveness

May I ask: Why did you produce solid fuel from heavy oil on Fulgora? Also, why do you crush gears to iron platea and then make gears again?
@emailspamm8 күн бұрын
Its just to get rid of extra iron gears which i dont need. And i make solid fuel because i need solid fuel 😄 I dont get enough from recycling.
@bjorn98756 күн бұрын
@@emailspamm If you want to void gears faster, would it make more sense to go gears->plates->iron chests->recycle? Or is the current recycling speed not relevant?

Congratulations on your world record! And by a good margin at that! "It starts at 2:37:30" I think you have cut down the video already, so perhaps that part of the description is wrong? Also, having WR in the title would likely make more people watch it, as I nearly didn't due to the lack of that!

On the space science platform ( 3:24:53) why you used those big numbers to filter the rocks, iron?
@emailspamm16 күн бұрын
It's to limit stuff stored in the hub. Basically the number overflows when the number gets too big so it turns negative which stops the crusher doing that recipe. Someone else in the comments also explained it better.
@hellyworld16 күн бұрын
@emailspamm Yes, I found it! I dug deeper into integer overflows with GPT, and now I get it. The last number subtracted from the maximum 32-bit value is actually the desired amount. Once this point is reached, the number "wraps around" and becomes negative.
@truc140518 күн бұрын
GG ! I don't get the result induced by the magic number 2^31 on science platform. What's the logic ? where can I find documentation about it ?
@radorei17 күн бұрын
It's called integer overflow. He uses it to set multiple filter limits with one constant combinator instead of having one decider combinator for each filter item. So for example, a signal with 2^31-20 metallic asteroids will overflow (and set the filter to 0) once 20 asteroids are on the belt.

It’s sad that the devs were pressured into reducing gleba science to the 3-4 steps that it is now. It is by far the easiest planetary science, but people still want Gleba to be removed from the game.
@oblivion_285217 күн бұрын
It's because everyone builds main bus with huge buffers of resources between recipes. Gleba basically forces players to use direct insertion and yet they protest

Well it works because he is speedrunning. Behemots usually take more than several mines to kill, but since he finishes the game under 9 hours, they are not a problem. He has a predetermined factory size and limited time the factory needs to actually work, so mines are optimal for that situation.
