So far I think modhaus is doing a great job at having a big group with several subunits with tripleS. They are adding members gradually and divide the group into different subunits so every member, at the time of subunits conception, participates in subunit activities while also planning on having a full grroup comeback each year. When they had 8 members they divided into 2 subunits with 4 members each. Now on the second round of subunits they had 16 members and divide into 2 subunits of 8 each. And they had a full group activity once. While in this system girls who joined the group early gets more activities and promotions, still feels like its more fair for the members than the mess of job sm did with nct.

I became an nctzen in 2021 so I know less and I haven't experienced the "Mark leaving Dream" thing. All I can say, now that Shotaro and Sungchan have even left NCT (🥺) is that the whole thing was REALLY badly thought of and managed. The idea was great and the music is great but the way members were treated and managed is AWFUL. Even Lucas: I might be unpopular but to me it's fine if he left but what it's not fine is the time it took to make and communicate the decision. The Dreamies thing, the WinWin thing and the Shungtaro thing are the worst things in how they managed everything but also I don't like the WayV treatment both by the agency and the fans who support any unit except them.
@japanesekoreanfan2 Жыл бұрын
I think SM was so committed to being able to have a group promote FULL TIME in China they didn't want to introduce the new WayV members in any way that might jeopardize that, plus the trainers may not have thought Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang were ready during NCT 2018 to be a part of it at the time. I also think SM just didn't have enough trainees born after Jisung that were as talented as he was at 14 to add to Dream at any point during your hypothetical setup of adding one member and taking one away at each new comeback. The way SM handled it was messy, but we still ended up with awesome guys in awesome units--this coming from someone who loves all the guys and all the units. I'm not a Dreamzen or 127zen or Wayzen, I'm an NCTzen. I love them all and I hate that SM is taking out Sungchan and Shotaro and putting them in the new boy group which we have no name for at the moment while adding several trainees we have no names for at the moment either.

Ok i only have one problem with your "fix" for NCT Dream and that's with you removing Jaemin. At the time of debut SM couldn't have possibly known that Jaemin would get sick and need a one-year hiatus. Instead it would make a helluva lot more sense to remove Haechan from the start since he was already a member of 127. Other than that, I agree 100% with your analysis. The fact that 4 members wouldve graduated at once if they kept the idea actually was what clued me in that they werent *actually* gonna kick Mark out. Regularly rotating out members is also a banger idea tbh I'm so upset that I never thought of that. For 127, i actually dont mind that they slowly added more members because IF the Dream graduation concept worked out, Jeno and Jaemin would've gone there *anyways*, and Winwin leaving midway wouldve made sense because then it would feel like the new members would be replacing him Also speaking of Winwin, he's not in 127 anymore since the cost of flying him back and forth between Korea and China wouldve been crazy lol.
@poppy5501 Жыл бұрын
i disagree with the way you added members to dream, added two 04s would mean they were 14 during 2018, and most idols under cam who debuted young have said how badly this has affected them, jisung included, but boa and taemin as well.

That's fair! I didn't even think about their ages, just the concept itself. If it was up to me only adults would debut

honestly making nct dream a group with a graduation concept was always going to fail, either the fans would demand it become fixed (like what happened) or they would just die out slowly like after school did resulting in them unofficially disbanding. kpop fans love the dynamics of a group and knowing that the lineup is going to change regularly completely destroys the attachment that kpop fans have with groups. imo they should've always had dream be a fixed unit and decided whether to put mark + haechan in just one fixed unit - idk which one honestly because they both work amazingly in both 127 and dream so i refuse to choose lmao. i honestly love the current lineups for all the nct units but just wish the whole process of forming them wasn't the extreme mess that it was... i understand why jungwoo was added to 127 and love what he adds to the group but i'll never understand why johnny and doyoung weren't in 127 from the start and why winwin was added to 127 when its obvious he was going to eventually be in the chinese unit (wayv). i feel like nct tokyo should've debuted much earlier with jungwoo or another korean unit debuts during 2018/19/20 with jungwoo, sungchan and maybe the dreamies not in 127 if they actually went through with the graduation concept? idk i love nct but it's such a mess i want to scream.
@japanesekoreanfan2 Жыл бұрын
I guess they really wanted to introduce WinWin as early as possible because he had the best grasp of the Korean language of all the Chinese trainees AT THAT TIME and didn't want to wait until they had enough Chinese trainees to create a full group--there were after all almost 3 years between 127's debut and WayV's.

In my opinion this is how SM should’ve managed NCT: 😂💚 In Version 1, I completely removed the one group for one specific country because I just think that concept is dumb and unnecessary In Version 2, I added back the one group for one specific country, because I wanna challenged myself if I can do a better job than SM, in managing NCT concept HAHAHAHA ‼️JUST TO CLARIFY‼️ 1. I changed their Debut dates because I consider NCT as 4th Gen Group rather than a 3rd Gen Group. Because their member’s personalities and how they’re Manage, are just more reminiscent of 4th Gen rather than 3rd Gen, so I changed it. 2. I also took out their endless members concept because it’s just dumb and too messy to handle 3. I also took out their Graduation concept, because AGAIN it’s just dumb and too messy to handle 4. No member is gonna debut in more than one group, minus their whole entire group in general. So if Mark debuted in NCT -120, then he’s only a member of that group, he’s not gonna be a Member of NCT 127, NCT 139 or NCT 116 P.S Correct me if I’m wrong about the Coordinate Locations, I just did a quick Google Search, so I’m not 100% sure if it’s correct. 💚Version 1: (Personally I prefer this Version HAHAHAHA) NCT only has three units, that just has comebacks for each different 4 countries (Korea, Japan, China and USA), and they’re not gonna debut one group for one specific country. 💚Debuted in July 11, 2018 NCT- This is the Main Group is composed of Every single NCT Member, they have a comeback every once a year. SM tried to make Super Junior a graduation system many years ago. Fans did not approve and SM quickly made it a fixed unit after the fans announced a plan to buy SM stock in order to influence the company. The lesson here is fans do not like graduation systems. Now Dream is one of their most successful groups. Let’s hope that SM has finally realized that fans Stan the members, not group concepts.

Why won't kpop companies learn with so many examples of groups with graduation system going bad
@KY-jd1nl9 ай бұрын
@@dondon_dr because it could be very convenient for companies IN THEORY. they can "drop" members for whatever reasons (e.g. unprofitable/unpopular, conflict, etc) without putting the whole group's success at risk. they may think adding new members keeps the group "fresh" and relevant longer. for boy groups especially, it makes the obligatory military service "loss" less impactful. you can also see that for SOME demographics, it works - e.g. J-pop idols groups like AKB48. In short, it offers flexibility. In no way am I saying I think it's a good idea (I don't), but it's somewhat understandable why some companies might want it to happen. and tbf, just bc some things that were not popular/didn't work in the past doesn't mean they'll never work. Societal values, trends, preferences, etc. change over time (why concepts like "ahead of their time" and "pioneers" exist). again, I'm not a fan of graduation systems myself. Just explaining why I think some companies may like the idea
@wynter9055 Жыл бұрын
I really think Dream's graduation system could've worked but they went about it slightly wrong. I think like you mentioned there was an age imbalance, having 1 member graduating first was good, since it slowly introduces the idea of losing members, but yes the loss of 4 members is quite substantial. I think Dream failed initially due to the lack of new members being introduced and the others having nowhere to go, there was much less noise about Mark leaving than Jeno, Jaemin and Renjun, since we knew where Mark would be, and Dream has seemingly always been sidelined to 127 (at least in 2019), so if the members were to graduate the new units would need to be introduced while they are still members of Dream, otherwise they end up like Ten or Kun where we may not see them for years. I liked your idea of the semi-rotational units, but I do think they could potentially cause confusion, and I agree that 127 not being fixed from the start was deterimental and to this day I don't understand why either Johnny or Doyoung weren't at debut, nor why Jungwoo was added, when a new unit for graduating dreamies was needed anyway, like at the start of 2018 I was sure they would've been in a new unit together, maybe with a few others like Ten. I also think that more U promotions, particularly earlier on, like more throughout 2018, and some in 2019, would've been very beneficial. Like I loved 2020, but U promotions don't need to be at the expense of the fixed units either. I think content-wise the way they handled 2022 was quite good, having whatever members were around doing content with each other, mixing units and having everyone come together once or twice for whole group activities (or as full of the group as they could) was entertaining and engaging particularly if you are a single unit fan. But they still could've had more U promotions throughout the year, perhaps the first or second quarter of 2022 we could've seen a SungTaro, 127 and Wayv combo since only Dream was promoting at the time.

I think a better plan for the graduating dream member was the original plan, make them join the regional units. It channels the fans to supporting the other units, so it makes a lot of sense financially. And it also promotes unity within the fandom. That way you don’t have annoying unit stans hating on the rest of NCT. Also it makes sense with the whole localization plan sm was going for. It’s a little weird to have multiple units targeting the same korean audience (that’s why dream and 127 had VERY different concepts initially). IMO having fixed units defeats the whole purpose of NCT’s limitless concept. So yeah, just limit it to one unit per region + NCT dream for younger members + NCT for crossovers between the units. Also the whole NCT *insert year* is pretty weird to me. I wish they just had NCT u as the surprise factor. Offers more opportunities for experimentalism and maybe also a creative outlet for members. Maybe even limit the unit to singles if you want so that members can take greater risks with self producing and creative concepts. I think having it be unpredictable would’ve been great.

It is naive to think that Dreamzens will supporting other units if Dream have to graduate no offense. Unlike other units fandom, Dream have lot of bigger fandom that rooting for the whole group instead of only rooting for their bias because they actually love Dream songs + their concepts that done by the original dream members, and their friendship as well. One wrong move Dreamzens will just abandons NCT fandom and looking for another group of another company which SM obviously don't want that. Sense of unity? Well imo it will makes NCT fandom much worse than it is now (which is already bad enough). Just look on how some Ten stans still believe that Ten is better solo, the hates around Jungwoo just because he joined the group late, and many more. Dreamzens especially the one who biasing one of the 5 members will be really hostile to other members who in the fix unit with them and the worse they will hating the new Dream lineup which will be all minors which is not good to their mental health at all. How NCT is handled currently is the wisest move from SM fixing all the mess Lee Soo-Man creates tbh. NCT Dream currently on world tour, WayV currently also have fanmeetings around asia, NCT 127 just finished their tour and having repackage and most likely they will focusing on solo schedules and DJJ unit since enlistment of Taeil come close, and NCT Tokyo will debuts soon which finally mark as the stop of the entire NCT expanding system

That's probably the main reason why SM never added new ppl into Dream like no SM rookie teasers happened after the 3 wayv guys. This video got recommended to me after SM just confirmed that NCT Tokyo would be the last NCT unit (it'll be a fixed unit imo, maybe Yuta might be put in to create more interest but I think they wouldn't pull him completely from 127 since it's been so long). Honestly, I do wish that SM utilized NCT U more often instead of it being a year-end sort of thing. Even though that is cool, there is nothing stopping SM from giving NCT U a single album and giving like 7-9 members that aren't promoting at the time to do their thing. Also, imagine the different concepts that they could cover and the fun member lineups if they used NCT U (NCT U China, NCT U dance line, NCT U r&b or hip-hop and that's just scratching the surface).

I think SMs persistence to get into the Chinese market no matter the very many obstacles was where things started to crumble because it put a pause on a lot of things that were time bound. eu consigo entender a linha de raciocínio mas tudo isso com certeza não daria certo, a maioria das pessoas nos comentários obviamente não sabem muita coisa sobre o NCT e principalmente sobre o mercado coreano. Realmente seria bom a SM manter o conceito inicial do dream ser um grupo rotativo, mas eu acredito que se todo seu plano fosse uma realidade o NCT como um todo teria uma popularidade muito menor.

I love Dream like it is but seeing it from other perspective it's not practical to have Haechan and Mark in two units, it's tiring for them and kind of unfair for the rest of the members because of the schedule for the combacks and the multiple choreographies for when they have to be in the other group

But whatever we think or suggest or come up with the final decision would come only from sm ent itself. Yes the suggestions and possible fixes are great and this should be submitted to sm ent but if this would be acted upon even if petitioned would be still be with the company. Suggesting is not a futile thing but let's get real all decisions on concepts the flow the membership and all other things that decision that will affect the whole nct and even other sm ent artists is still with the company. Are they obligated to listen, no. Are they to take in the suggestion yes they could consider it but the decision is still would be with them so be very careful and don't feel like you didn't heard by the company maybe you are heard but still the decision would still be with them. I have mixed feelings about the concept but I accepted the fact that anything that these group would have In the future is because of the decision made by the company and that fact should be accepted even if you think you're doing the right thing for your biases.
