Unimatic has some nice watches. I like their design. But I guess you are right... the numbers look a little too small. That's also my opinion. I saved some money because of your review - thanks! 🙂

I like it a lot. I’d venture to say less than 10% of buyers use it for its actual purpose and depth rating so the date function and polishing is most likely for the other 90%

Thanks for the video. I’m a saturation diver and this was the first serious watch in my collection. Guys I worked with thought I was crazy wearing it on dives working down on the seabed, welding anodes to pipelines 😂 it doesn’t get much wrist time anymore unfortunately but I’ll never part with it! For anyone thinking of getting one, just beware that the double anti reflective coating on the inside and outside is abit silly. The outer coating has micro scratches after a lot of use and it’s noticeable in sunlight. My only gripe really.
@xderiwx20 күн бұрын
Nice review! That's a great looking GMT! How have you found those coatings to hold up over time? Do they scratch and mark easily? Also, have you found their claim of +/- 8 per day to be accurate? Thanks!

YES! Quartz means it has a battery as a source of power.

I've sold my 43mm SD and have just bought a new old stock fully stickered unworn 16600 from 2008. It arrives in two days and I can't take!

I have this same watch l had got second hand years ago with the book and all the papers. Unfortunately I broke the crown the first week I had it😢. I have had no luck finding a local repair person… do you have any advice? I really would like to wear it again or sell it to someone who would.

Incorrect on the SubC bracelet swap…I did it w/ my Sub and and holes fit. The end links do have a slight mismatch on alignment compared w/ OEM, but it definitely can be swapped. That said, I eventually put it back and simply ordered a Sub glidelock to put on GMT oyster (the main reason for the bracelet swap in the first place).

I have about 40 watches. 6 weeks ago I bought this at my local OB. Only watch i have worn since I acquired it. Kinda sad for all my other watches but it rules.

Great review! I have the one with Lemania 5100 movement (Ref: 602.22.142) with the cosmonaut velcro strap! Great brand with a lot of history.

Fixed lug watches certainly have a utilitarian charm. I own and cherish a 1996 CWC Royal Navy diver with a day/date (an absurdly rare configuration for the model) that I will never part with. Its fixed lugs are the standout characteristic in my eyes. That, and perfectly aged Tritium. The utility and versatility of a pass through-only watch are hard to argue with.

Great work! Would be great if you could reduce the video filtering effects. Would like to see the watches closer to how they are seen in real life.

Tudor needs to ditch the ridiculous faux rivet bracelet. The ranger bracelet is so much nicer.

I wear mine most days and absolutely love it. It only really comes off when I need to wear a shirt with cuffs, as it won't fit underneath.

I just bought the Aqua. Now that it has been out for a year dealers are open to negotiating and you can pick it up for what it should cost. I love it. Sharp, bold, clean, and the Aqua stands out as a bit more fun.

Explorer II (especially the 5-digit model made around 2010) is really the only modern steel Rolex that still feels like a true tool watch. Even the regular Explorer leans decidedly towards a luxury product due to its polished, suit-friendly bezel.

Since getting my FXD MN I keep reaching for it every day and my other watches don't get as much time on wrist... I do think I should get the black as well so that I can at least vary what I wear

I was a 21 year old Army Paratrooper when I purchased mine in January 1987 at a dealer in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It was on sale for $1650. The salesman told me to choose what Rolex I wanted carefully as I would be looking at it for a very long time. I have scuba dived, parachuted, motorcycled all over the US and used it one time as collateral to bail a cousin out of Jail. Still wearing regularly today.

agreed completely the 16600 is what Rolex is all about`~ I owned several Rolexes including oyster flex Daytonas, Cookie Monster,, Pepsi, Explorers, YM in all configurations and more. None can compare to the intricacy ,simplicity, and wearability of the SD 16600.. I rotate the SD with my Cartier Santos large on a daily basis...... these are truly great watches of all time.....

Been wearing a Rolex of one kind or another for over 40 years. If I could only have one it would be my 16600. A truly great reference. Under appreciated as well as under valued in my opinion.

Thanks you, great video. However, I believe the drilled lug holes went away before the movement was updated, so I don’t think you could find an example with both of those.

You mentioned the Lemania 5100 movement. I have a watch with that movement too. It's my favorite watch. It's the Revue Thommen Airspeed Automatic that I bought in 1998. It's got a titanium case and bracelet too. It looks pretty similar to the Fortis Cosmonaut watch. Unfortunately it doesn't run well anymore. It runs, keeps time and then stops even though it is kept wound. And it just costs too much to get serviced. So I do keep it on display. I remember at the time I was looking for a watch that there were a number of different watches that used the Lemania 5100. But the movement is no longer being made and no parts are available either. I think at the time I bought it, it was the end of the line.
