I could get lost in that place. I have always enjoyed looking through old records, and have collected them for years. Still got boxes and boxes of 45s. In this area, (RI), we had several independent record stores (not the Mall type) which sold old, used records and had 100s of thousands of 45s, but nothing like this. If you're from the Providence area, you may remember Luke's Record Exchange. If he didn't have it in stock, he could get it for you. Also legendary for collectors was Moffet's downtown, and Ladd's Music. They're all gone, and if I wanted to resume collecting, there is no place left to go except Ebay, and R&B Records. Unfortunately, I can't remember the last time I ever played any of those records, and 45s did not have the best audio quality. It's easier, and sounds better, to play the mp3. But, unlike a computer file, records had not only collectible value, but an identity. Record collecting seems to have become a lost art, and I appreciate you keeping it alive.

Well, Val, too bad I'm on the other end of the state (near Jerry's Records) or I'd love to work at your store and sort all that stuff out! I've got over 62,000 in my own collection. Everything I have is sorted via label and then record number. and listed on my computer. I've been collecting since I was 2! (You were 3, at the time.) I also used to buy records for my friends. Almost every day, I'd come home from school, jump on my bike and ride 4 miles to hit several record shops! Record Rama, Eide's (across the street), K-Mart (around the corner another mile) (it had a fairly large record section) and N&S (up on the hill another 2 miles from K-Mart). Eide's & Jerry's are the only two left and both guys just died about a year ago. You COULD always ship me a truckload of stuff and I'll sort them, list them, if you want and ship `em back.

I’m reading a book about American Bandstand and just learned that after Bob Horn, Bandstand’s original host, was forced to step down due to his chasing some of the underage female dancers, Tony Mammarella was asked to step in. He reign as host, unfortunately, was short lived due to the higher ups’ prejudice against Italians. I thought everybody loved Italians, except maybe the Irish.

In the mid-'60's my friends and I regularly listened to the folk show on WPWT (91.7 FM) before we became obsessed with R&R. I wonder who else remembers that station and that show?

I like to see boxes of 45's just thrown and piled everywhere... and each 45 only 50¢ like the flea markets that are close by here.. I don't like organized 45's on shelves and shit

Oh my god this place is where records go to die. It’s a mess, look at how it’s all stored! He has piles of records stacked on the floor for cats to piss on, and the shit on the shelves are just crammed together. All of this is awful for the records. Awful.

I am missing you so much Ron as I really enjoyed working with you when our radio shows aired back to back some years ago. But my happiest times with you were when we regularly met by chance at the Acme Supermarket. I would always ask the cashier "Do you know who that man you just checked out is?" Most every cashier would say no but when I brought out my photograph of Ron when he did Disco USA from my purse, every cashier would produce huge smiles of their wonderful memories of watching Ron on TV and enjoying the music and dancing he brought to his show. God bless you Ron and your wonderful wife Robin. Valerie Morrison - Psychic Medium

This guy is a trip. Love it. Does the guy ever actually listen to anything? He didn't seem to have music playing and his man Chucky seemed to disappear quickly. That fucker figured that shit out early. He certainly wasn't in charge of catalogs. Jeebus Christmas. I hope his neighbors have their fire insurance payed up. If that place went up it would be like a coal mine fire. Gawd forbid.

This dude also says he hates albums. Wtf. I feel like he doesn’t love music, he just loves hoarding very specific shit. Also he has records just strewn about on the floor for cats to piss on??? He has them all stacked on top of one another feet high and has the gall to bitch about the place being a disaster? He doesn’t even know what he has!!! He’s a hoarder, absolutely.

Exactly, which is why it’s a shame that his hoard is in the shape it is in. A lot of those records are probably ruined or warped or at least not in the condition they should be in. Christ, he has tons of records he doesn’t even know he has.
