Why not just use a single 24v contacter? Rather than the relay to power a higher voltage contacter?

Great video. I am hoping that you can give me advise on my Dyna-Glo 7500 Watt heater. The circuit board is fried and I know the element and fan are ok and I was hoping to incorporate your schematics to bypass the board and add everything in your video to rejuvenate the heater rather than throw it out. Would this be possible using your schematics?

Yes, it doesn’t use any of the OEM board. Def can.

How would this differ with a DIMPLEX 5000W CUH05B31TG? It has a built-in fan relay, Thanks... great video!!

The addition of the time delay relay for the fan is a great addition and one that I want to incorporate. The specific time delay used here is no longer available on Amazon and I am having difficulty locating another 24VAC time delay. Any other suggested products & links?

Great diagram, please describe the black wire you added from the fan control board Supply terminal to the fan. What did you disassemble to get to the fan and how and where did you connect it to fan motor. Using a spade connector, splice, etc. Thanks

How did you piggyback the relay connector from the heater terminal to the fan control board right at the relay?

I used a Non-Insulated double Male-Female adapter. It’s basically a splitter. Here’s what it looks like, www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v000323405/

@@MDcraftsman Also the other two connections on the relay for the thermostat are smaller than the spade connectors that you put in the comments. What spade connectors are you using for those?
@MDcraftsman
@MDcraftsman Жыл бұрын
@@JeffDietenberger I used the splitter that came with the original thermostat. Since you wont be needing the thermostat that came with this heater for this setup.
@MDcraftsman

@@JeffDietenberger In regards to the spade connectors, I also used some of the wires that came from the original thermostat that already has the spade connectors on both ends. For the low voltage wires, I used a spade connector that is 4.8mm wide, see specs of the relay. I’ve updated the list in my description for the correct spade connector, from Amazon. One more thing, please make sure that the electrical connections are tight. This is critical to a safe wiring job. If wires come loose, you could get arcing. I hope I was able to answer your questions.

Do you completely bypass the original thermostat knob? I thought I saw some wires still connected to it when you showed your finished project at the end.
@MDcraftsman
@MDcraftsman Жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment. Yes, the thermostat is not connected to anything. The one wire that you see is what was left. One end is connected to one side of the thermostat and the other end is connected to the other side of the thermostat. If you look closely, it’s makes a U shape. I hope that makes sense. I guess I should of just removed the wire.

Can you provide information on the contactor, specifically is the coil voltage 120v or 240v?

How do I use a nest thermostat at a lower temp, I like to keep my garage at ~45 in winter. I don’t think it can go that low.
@MDcraftsman

Nest has a feature called Thermostat Safety Temperatures. Nest won’t let the temp drop below the safety temp set. And fortunately for you, the lowest value available in safety temp is 35 degrees F
