Hey there! I’ve been making similar arguments at length about Jane Spring in other reactions. I’d say more as this season progresses but… Nick’s grades: I’ve gleaned from UK viewers that a 9 is like an A++ and a 3 is like a D. I’m unsure if a 2 is considered passing; a 1 is failing. Nick’s lowest score was a 3 in maths. By contrast Tara got all 9s (Charlie doesn’t take his GCSEs until “next” year). Cheers!

Thank you for this synopsis. Love the fact that you not only examine the content, you also provide analysis of the technical aspects of the production that many reactors do not pick up on. A couple of limited series format programs that appeared in 2024 I was wondering if you had any thoughts on are 'The Penguin' and 'Baby Reindeer.' And since you recommended 'Fallout', I definitely think the "Last of Us" is one you would like.

Definitely need to get into 'Bridgerton.' I like period pieces both in movies and TV series. 'Downton Abbey' and 'The Gilded Age' are both excellent.

My first time watching your channel. Very impressed with your depth of knowledge in the technical aspects of this production. It really adds a different dimension to re-watching this series with you (no pun intended with the use of that word here). This series really keeps you on the edge of your seat. The acting is really good (especially like Victoria Pedretti who you will meet in Season 2) and the direction/cinematography are really good. Have not seen any reactor take this one on, so great job on your part. Look forward to future videos. A couple of other series recommendations for you: Yellowjackets (my favorite currently running series). The Last of Us, (a futuristic, apocalyptic, and dystopian drama).

If this concept seems idiotic to you then you probably have never seen Jack Frost (1998) or Snowmance (2017). Then there's the classic Mannequin (1987), where a mannequin comes to life, and of course, the blockbuster Barbie movie where a doll decides to become real. Why? It makes no sense, but that's not the point. These movies try to tell a story, whether it be good or bad, and hopefully teach an invaluable lesson. Hot Frosty is a sweet, disarming feature about healing from tragedy. It's about perseverance, and how we should never forget the people we loved. It's a Christmas romantic comedy, and a fairytale where dreams come true and people live happily ever after. This is not a documentary or news program. The people of Hope Springs are unrealistic cuz this ain't real life, it's just A MOVIE!

Technically, there were 3 more videos after Chk Chk Boom, lol. The Bsides were Mountains, Stray Kids, and JJam. Also, they have Making of videos for each of the videos, and yes, its a robot rig. There is a lot of Lore early on in their career. You'd probably find the mv for Stray Kids interesting, b/c it references a lot of their past videos including Hellevator.

I'm curious if the leak was directly responsible for the quality of the scene backgrounds and matching at the beach. It was actually the post-production company that got hacked and the raw production files got shared. Perhaps that impacted the timeline and processing.

Tobie mentioned in an interview that Joe was shivering so bad that they had to do reshoots. You can definitiely see the cuts and continuity issues during the convo with Nick in the sea. The background and coloring inconsistencies are prominent as well during that scene.

Thanks so much for your reaction to this episode. I love the show and this season, but I, too, had the feeling that the lighting was off at times or that the sky just wasn't right (probably because it was filmed in autumn), and it really messed with my head, so much in fact that it took me a while to appreciate the story itself. I guess, hearing your professional opinion makes me feel better about my own observations. :)

At what point are all the green screen backgrounds done, I’ve seen videos of the cast on set and a lot of the scenes are shot on a giant green screen. Don’t they have to plan around where the “background” will go when they’re blocking for the actors etc? This was very interesting thank you!

Any chance you can go into technical issues that audiences can have with media vs what they client has asked for? Like certain films being notorious for having bad mixing for vocals and the instrumentals making it hard to hear. Or how sometimes you'll watch a horror film and be able to view the finer details perfectly and in others you can barely make out which character you're looking at much less what's in the room. Also yes, reactions to ALL of the episodes would be awesome!

Why is the quality declining but the turn around getting slower, though? Shouldn't it get faster because they already have sets and some costumes and already have a template for how they want it to look?

Thank you for this wonderful insight. I think also, with how fickle Netflix is with renewing their shows each season a lot of preproduction that could be happening for the next season while the current one is filming gets delayed(most likely because budget is not fully secured). I've noticed a lot of changes each season to "streamline" certain aspects of production. So they are working incredibly fast for the time from being green lit to premiere date. From an artistic standpoint I wished they unutilized the Bridgerton family homes more often and found more creative/interesting ways to shoot the spaces that are so intimately known to the characters. I personal love when a set dresser/designer put in the work for detail and the cinematographer & director take the time to focus on those pieces. It's the best way to get to know a character without exposition dumping through dialog. There are so many visual short hands to get characters across.
@berlineczka
@berlineczka 4 ай бұрын
Also, they could focus more on shooting cheaper scenes - as it happens to be the ones the fandom keeps saying they do not get enough from. Basically, the most expensive is shooting on location and big scenes - for Bridgerton, it's the balls. The more people in the scene, the longer it takes (and more expensive it is). The balls scenes easily take days to shoot. The smaller the scene, especially when shot in their studio (e.g. the insides of Bridgerton and Featherington houses are all film sets), the cheaper it is. And yet, people keep complaining that we do not get enough of family banter and one on one scenes between protagonists (and not only between the romantic leads, but also other protagonists, e.g. they want more scenes between Kate and Eloise, or Pen and Bridgertons other than Colin and Eloise, or Pen and the modiste or lady Danbury). We do not really need a ball every episode.
@madelion24
@madelion24 4 ай бұрын
@@berlineczka exactly this. It makes me remember how the director of Pride & Prejudice got the cast into the house they would be shooting in to make them more comfortable within the space. With a ready made set there is such an opportunity to really play into the families dynamic more. Also I need the gaffers to find a way to light the scenes without it feeling like the house lights are on or one lone candle. There isn't enough contrast in the final product. I personally blame digital for killing a lot of artistic choices that film made iconic. Season 3 made everything look yasified. from the make-up and styling to the lighting and angle choices. Nothing felt soft and romantic...just overly blurred to make all pores and realism disappear. They removed the "texture" that gives personality to any project.

The VFX DOES look great, but not nearly $1 billion great. Shows like The Wheel of Time or House of the Dragon have many shots that are almost as good and sometimes even better, and they achieve it with a fraction of a fraction of the budget of RoP. Just look at Tar Valon in the Wheel of Time, for example. It looks amazing, I can't really see a difference in quality between it and the Valinor shot, and that entire show had less than a quarter of the budget. Also, we see WAY more of Tar Valon from many angles, while we only see one shot of Valinor. And some of RoP even looks CHEAP!! How is that even possible? I mean, look at the Numenoreans' armor, for example. It looks like plastic, like a Halloween costume you'd get at Walmart for $10. The fact that I've seen more shots in RoP that are noticeably CGI or cheap costumes, than shows like WoT with a fraction of the budget, is sad. I should be able to easily tell that one show looks WAY better than the other, cause so much more money is spent, but I can't. And the money obviously didn't go to good writers or actors, so why doesn't the VFX look leaps and bounds better than all competition?
@AndreaFasani
@AndreaFasani 4 ай бұрын
don't think it's the same: the scenery and backgrounds are much better in rings of power. The difference in budget and skills is there and you can see it both in quality of the renders and in variety (wheel of time shows the same shot over and over again like they have 4 different scene and are so small they can only use 2 camera angles). I'm with you about the show overall: if you feel the quality of the production for the postproduction, everything else, literally, is lacking and the costumes are a valid example. Some dresses and armor are great, but other look like they run out of money like for the numenorian ones. Also, the great designs for the movies have no real translation if you think about how all these races and cultures look the same. Plus, many shots are a waste of time and money like the one from the top view shown in this video: you don't need it for the story but looks cool. Same for the valinor scene when Galadriel is travelling on boat, its amazing but deeply wrong from a story telling way: they made her go with it all the way till almost the end to finally realized that's not what she wants and end up swimming half or more of the ocean. It's idiotic and a waste of money.

@@rainabaileyyy I will make a video about it, that's a good idea, but my quick tip for you is to just apply to as many film companies as you can, make sure you prep your portfolio well, get credits to whatever projects you've already done, maybe even create an IMDB profile, and show them that you're an asset to their team they don't want to miss. If you want to work on film sets I can reommend looking on the site "Crew United". I think it's a world wide website a lot of production companies use to look for set runners, camera assistens, gaffers, drivers, etc. If you look there and get a job you might be able to build up your contact list from there and further make your way into the industry. I wish you good luck on your journey!
