@@morganeheysecoloratura I see that you will play in Linz, Austria. Do you know if you will perform further north in the near future? Linz is a terrible long way from Os/Bergen, Norway. (The birth place of Edvard Grieg, Ole Bull, KYGO, Alan Walker, Aurora, Caroline Wettergreen and myself) :-)

@tommyb6713 Thank you for your support and interest ! 😊 I will be singing in a world premiere by Mike Svoboda at the Schwetzingen SWR Festspiele, which is a bit further north than Linz 😅 I will also be singing 2 recitals in Belgium ( November 16th and June 10th 2025 ). Other than that, there is always the possibility that I might be called at a short notice to replace someone and that might be anywhere... The best way to keep up to date with that is to follow my Instagram and Facebook page, where I publish those short notice updates. Dans l'opéra, comme au théâtre, les costumes sont pensés pour donner des clés de compréhension en plus au spectateur sur la personnalité du personnage, les circonstances de sa situation etc. Tout comme le maquillage et la coiffure, rien n'est laissé au hasard et tout est fait et pensé dans un but précis. Ici, pendant l'ouverture de l'opéra, le public pouvait voir Violetta se faire habiller contre son gré : ce costume donne ainsi les clés pour comprendre que Violetta n'est pas libre de ses décisions, que son corps et son image ne lui appartiennent pas.

I have been diagnosed with Dementia. I am at the early stage. My daughter has advised me to speak my love. To comment. I heard your voice for the first time, a couple of nights ago. With art, it chooses us, and your voice speaks to my soul. Again, thank you for your expression and love.

That is just ridiculously, laugh out loud beautiful. I cannot begin to articulate this voice. It literally shifts and fecks with my atoms. I am not religious, but if there are Angels, that sing, this is what we will hear. Truly outstanding. This has contributed to my soul. Thank you for being you and your expression.

How many hours per day do you practice?

Thank you very much ! It depends if I have a performance or not ; if I have a performance, I warm up ( 45 minutes ) then I review the whole role, which depends on the length of the role. If I don't have a performance, then I do a more extensive warm up, probably like an hour and then work for a few hours on repertoire 😊

Do you have a reliable high G? Look at Mozart's concert aria "Popoli di Tessaglia!", K. 316. Written for the same singer as this aria (Aloysia Weber), the aria is nearly 11 minutes long and liberally sprinkled with high Ds and Es, culminating in two ascents to the aforementioned high Gs. You are terrific! Please keep up the great work.

Yes, that's the thing with live performances: sometimes, the performers are a bit sick, or tired or, for women, on their periods and it can affect the voice. But that's also the charm of a live performance: it's never twice the same ! 😉

The famous vocals of this aria, beside their insane technical difficulty, are also probably the weirdest in the history of opera. Berlioz, who hated them, called them "ces petits cris de poule courroucée", as he couldn't see any dramatic reason for it, and thus dismissed them as a kind of vocal athletic circus. But they make sense if you consider them as signs of a descent into madness, and you perfectly expressed that!

Thank you, that's exactly it ! But I love to reinvent them according to the view of the stage director : in this production, I was desperate to have to ask such a thing of my daughter but I deemed it necessary. In another production, the coloraturas were directly addressed to Sarastro, who was on stage with me, so the singing was full of hate. I love exploring all those different facets of the same role and being able to play with colors in my voice 😃
