Let me assure you that "lack of diversity" is not a negative. Living as I do in a city, I see firsthand how "diversity" equals social upheaval and a rise in crime. Who needs THAT?

To say no diversity is a con sounds racist. It should not matter how many different ethnic groups there are or the ratio, just hope you have pleasant neighbors. Imagine going, there are to many black people here or to many Hispanics, sounds pretty racist to me. But if you say there are to many white people, that's fine. Pathetic.

People need to really listen to this. We got relocated for work. We were given the name and number for a realtor and dude was awful. We asked our employer if we were stuck with just that agent. And they told us, no and gave us options for teh companies they would cover. We talked to 3 more realtors and found the best one ever

I like your videos! I'm in NC and last year we bought a house in Sanford, Maine. We'll be moving into our new house Oct 2024 and would love to see more what Sanford, Maine has to offer!! Could you do more about Sanford and York county?? I really can't go out and explore because of a lung issues but from what I've seen I'm going to love it there plus we are raising our grandkids and would love to see what is out there for families to do. I can still do things but to go out and explore is kind of tough. If we could see more what Sanford and York County has to offer will help me with doing stuff. I've been watching you and your dad with the videos that you've done and I think you all are doing a great job with advise to buying and selling homes. Please keep them coming! We bought our house before I ever knew you all were doing videos. I was doing a search with what to do in Sanford and York County and is how I was directed to your videos!! I'm so looking forward to our new life in Maine! I've been to Maine many times, I was an over the road truck driver and hauled many boats to Maine and I used to deliver the Secret Service boats to Kennebunkport when Bush Sr. was President!! Until an accident in 2004 which forced me into retirement early. I've delivered many boats up and down Maine and everywhere in the U.S. and Canada!! I love southern Maine and was the reason we purchased our home in Sanford. Thanks for what you and your family are doing g to help people making decisions with buying and selling homes!! I'm definitely looking forward to my Lobster Rolls!!!

Are you talking southern New England? We lived in southern NH for a very long time amd found it very friendly. We retired to North Carolina 4 years ago and do not like it here. There is no southern hospitality, it's southern hostility. People from up north are considered "loud mouth Yankees" . We have been told that we are "Too Northern". The crime is high. Everyone carries a gun and Will use it. There are no restaurants that are any good and is a constant complaint from everyone. Fast food, the most unhealthyest type, and is predominant. Cost of food is more than up north and the quality is atrocious and rotten or rots quickly. I will take a north easter over the weather down here. There is a ton of prejudice, it goes both ways and they get offended easily. Remember the gun comment! We can't wait to move back north!⁸🚚

You make it sound like we do not have any other races here. That is wrong. We have Blacks, Asians, French, Mexicans and quite a few from other Countries. It's not because we are not welcoming it's because most people do not like snow, high taxes, and being paid so much less than other states. It's hard on that part. I have lived here 65 years and I would never live anywhere else. I do not even go out of state anymore. No need for all that nonsense of in other states. I think people here a little stand offish at first. Most warm up though. It is boring here if you are young. Not much nightlife if any. This state is mostly old. Old people. Lots of old people. Still I love Maine and I hope you do not listen to the person making the video and see for yourself. I think she is a little off.

I lived at 206 Webhannet right on the ocean for several years. I guess maybe I know something about this house which was just a few homes down from mine and I lived there year round (I.e. all winter). What makes you so sure I don't know what I'm talking about? I'm in Wells almost daily. Lets get together for coffee. You'll find my email address in the comments.

People in Maine are not mean. We're just a lot more self-contained and private than most Americans. Also, we get overwhelmed by the annual flood of tourists. Generally speaking, unless you've really earned your place here, and have found a way into our hearts, we'd really prefer you'd just spend your money, enjoy your vacation and go home. We get tired of being priced out of our hometowns and coastlines by wealthy investors and remote earners from away. If you breeze in here and snatch up our grandparents homestead for your vacation home/investment property because a tenth generation fisherman can't afford to keep it anymore and now has to commune two hours to get to the harbor, of course you're going to find the locals are a bit cool towards you. It takes years and a lot of shared hardship to become a Mainer-poverty, and grit, bleak gray winters, and the ability to build a good life out of very little. You can buy up all our waterfront, but you can't buy that.

From Maine and moving back part time. Is it okay with you if I purchase an empty house and fix it up or should I find out if someone is sentimental about it first? My step dad is dying of cancer and I want to be there when I can for my mom. Should I ask the permission of the townspeople or just accept that they treat me poorly?

Forty years’ ago, you could buy a bank foreclosure house, rehab it and rent it out for summer, then rent it out for less money in the winter time to a family that wanted a good school system. Back then, you could walk out to high tide. Now, high tide comes to you and washes away your porch, and your car. Insurance usually covers anything above basement level. If you are unfortunate to get four feet of sea water in your basement and in your garage; that’s all yours to pay for. A shout out to all the brave fire crews who rescue those off - season renters from the raised decks . God Bless you ❤

Would like some input on moving to Maine, specifically Belfast. My husband is a physician and may be taking a temporary position there for about a year. From what I have researched, Maine appears to be beautiful with a lot of pros but after reading the comments speaking about lack of diversity being a pro I am slightly concerned. My husband is white but I am hispanic with a brown complexion. I have a masters degree, I am a genuinely kind person, and grew up in white suburbia so I am used to being one of the few colored people in a community. That being said, should I worry that I may be treated differently if we decide to move to Maine or are the negative comments about diversity on here not a true representation of the state? Open to comments from anyone who can shed some light!

How’s the art scene? I’m moving to New England next year. I’ve been considering Portland over Manchester. Boston is a bit too big for my taste. I wouldn’t mind driving an hour and half way to Boston here and there.

I really enjoyed your video. I have been a full time resident in Saco for the last 28 years. This area has changed a lot in that time. The hardest part about living here is getting around in the summer. The traffic is horrific. Before Memorial Day and after Labor it’s a lot better. I live at Ferry Beach but will be selling my house soon. I am 76 years old and my taxes have gotten so high I can’t afford to stay any longer. Keep up the good work with your videos. Good luck.

Good! I hope no else moves here and people start selling there homes so locals can actually afford to purchase a home here. Its absurd with all these wannabe investors types gobbling up all the real estate and causing the housing prices to sky rocket. I literally make it a goal to be rude to anyone with out of state plates. Stay the hell away we don't want you here at all.
