I have been living in the Phil for approx 10 years on the 13A/Permanant visa and it has turned out to be good. What is my choice if my Philippine wife was to die before me regarding spending the rest of my life in the Philippines. It cost just over P20,000 to get both the provision then13A visa. I have read even the SRRV visa has been put on hold. Curious how others manage in this situation. My wife should outlive me but life is not a certainly.

@LCPhilippineRetirement3 ай бұрын
You will land at T4 American Airlines. 5 min walk, right next door, from International national Tom Bradley. After you get your luggage ask to get a golf cart ride to Tom Bradley international so you don't have to walk or go outside the terminals.

"I gotta drink my coffee, because it's not going to drink itself." ...truer words have never been spoken. lol. I was wondering, do you know how customs works for Americans? Like if you bringing in a couple of laptops, iphone, ipad, some camera gear, all for personal use, do you have to pay taxes and duties on this? I seem to be finding conflicting information. Some it seems you're not taxed on personal items, seemingly regardless of value. Sometime a 10k php limit is talked about.

There are rentals that can be had an hour or so from Manila for $60 -- $100/mo. --- McDonalds is less than half price for a Big Mac fry & a coke + an ice cream. - as reported recently by an expat who said it was exactly the same on a video ! ($4.26 -- $10. 87 where I am in Kentucky) Not needing a car with maintaining it & insurance saves a lot - by buying a scooter or taking a tuk tuk ! --- If your frugal you can live much cheaper and be comfortable than in the US. --- 2 things control the expense - where & how.

its cheaper to the ones whom can afford it, given all these youtubers who come from western countries, it is cheap but to the local filipino, it is not, with tech booming, i see higher paying jobs and hopefully affordability stays the same, mabuhay, i visited and stayed in the philippines for two months in cebu city. ill be coming back soon

I bought my truck here back in 2020 for $40,000 USD. I could of got one in the US for $25,000. So far, I spend $3k usd per month with no house payment or car payment.
@CollosalTrollge10 ай бұрын
100% agree, things in Philippines are ridiculously not really cheap , especially how the other youtubers put it. I come from a country that doesnt have a power currency , but regardless, its just expensive and i really find there are less options in terms of what u can get, and i am guessing it is monopoly and most probably to control prices more.
@LCPhilippineRetirement9 ай бұрын
When I first came to visit the Philippines for the very first time since I came to US, I thought everything was cheap in the Philippines. I bought a house here to retire. Now that I am here, I only use mg credit card for expenditures, man it is either the same price in the US or it is a little bit more. The only thing that is cheap here is labor except for mechanic working in the dealership. I use t my credit card so I can gauge my daily monthly expenses.
@jamesgilbert218110 ай бұрын
rent is cheaper and our house payment on our home was just 400.00 dollars a month but i paid off the house so now my payment is 0 and i still spend around 1800.00 usd to live here in cabuyao Laguna
