I've had issues since multiple teeth extractions, what happened to you, I think my dentist damaged a nerve. I'll be suing him for sure, he's actually a friend, he's insured so he won't be upset or struck off these things happen apparently. Didn't know it would evolve into a condition like yours. Hopefully I'll be ok, so far hypersalivation and electric shocks, what were your first symptoms.? Give me some hope bud, I'm a little concerned after seeing this.. Peace be with you always...

Does a person need to hand in a portfolio in order to enter the film program?

MsCrazyminded No I don't think so. Valencia east campus has tons of gear to work with and enthusiastic instructors. I'd never done anything before and loved the challenges.

Your story breaks my heart. I feel so bad for you man. How did something like a wisdom tooth extraction cause this? Is it nerve damage? I dont see how a wisdom tooth extraction could affect the brain. I wish you nothing but the best.

Kirk is a wonderful instructor with an amazing amount of patience. He takes the time to get to know each of his students and works out the most productive way to connect / teach them the craft. If you live in Central Florida, I would recommend taking one of his classes.

You still haven't stated any valid reasoning or any kind of logical statements concluding that you think hes faking it. You're just spewing bullshit.
@ThomasRohe7 жыл бұрын
Pretending? You're kidding or just doing the trolling thing I guess. That makes no sense. I drove all the way to the Mayo in Minnesota from Orlando. Did these videos on the trip there and back. Would you dare tell someone in a wheelchair that they're faking? This recording was me on a good day while on the road. Still no cure. In April it'll be seven years that I've not been working due to this dystonia. Look up Dystonia and also look up the video called the Ambien effect on the Vice channel. Funny looking at this video... I drove solo a few thousand miles for healing and social media was my copilot. Remember I used to be an actor and b voice actor. The personality is still in there. Hence the goofiness. I'd rather have fun and enjoy life. I've been in the pit of depression and darkness. Took years to drag out. Love and be kind. Tom
@ThomasRohe7 жыл бұрын
Wulfas thanks for standing up for me. I've been accused of faking since the beginning. Which is bizarre. There wss no lawsuit. No prize money. No reward for losing my career and essentially my life. Actually glad I saw this video because I've been very depressed lately as the anniversary of killing Tom Cassidy, my professional name, was in April seven years ago. Breaks my fucking heart that I speak better now thanks to Botox and medicines, but not well enough to voice anything professionally. Thanks again!

Latest update from April 22, 2015... I just made my first podcast post (without any drugs) discussing the experience and what I learned from it. It's on SoundCloud soundcloud.com/sunspots-productions/thomas-rohe-dystonia-story and iTunes podcast: itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/7-losing-your-voice-finding/id800012135?i=340289401&mt=2 Thanks again to all the kindness and support. The voice seems to be getting better, but still dealing with the mouth troubles every day. Last night I tried the 12.5mg Ambien without going to bed right away and within an hour I was speaking clearly. This morning I was clear until an hour or more awake. But...at least not as bad as 2010-14.

Yikes! Just happened to see some posts on youtube commenting that I am faking it. Seems that anonymity protects the weak and ignorant. Someone also said I was promoting the drug. Nope, not promoting it all, just noting that it was a "miracle" surprise to me when no other drugs helped. I never expected any kind of effect other than helping me sleep. My voice isn't as bad in this beginning of the video and not as good as the end. The jaw's still out of alignment and the lingual dystonia is still present. Faking it? For what purpose? To end my career and become a relative recluse? Nah don't think so. Oh, and no there wasn't some magical legal settlement. Sometimes sh@t happens and I had my turn with it that day in 2009. Now in March 2015 the jaw's still wonky and my speech is a little better overall, but no meds except ambien and potent cbd oil have worked. I prefer the cbd oil, but it's still considered illegal where I travel so hoping to visit Colorado this year. Check out Vice's short documentary about the ambien effect and judge the effectiveness. It's amazing how it works and wish there was a way of having the positive effects without the loopy, drowsy or inebriated feelings. Hope none of the haters who've written ever experience anything like this. Life is short, do something good rather than troll. Peas-Tom
@naturegirl21108 жыл бұрын
I think the reason it works is because it allows you to relax therefore no muscle spasm. I don't any other drug that doesn't have the side effect of major drowsiness will work. I know one that that knock me out in 30 mins flat is promethazine that's used for nausea. When the doc will give me script I'll take Ambien but without it sleep is hard to come by and worse to actually stay asleep which makes it more possible for an even worse neurological condition I have. Do you find that if you wake while still drowsy that your speech improves too. You body may just be relaxed to the point of not spasms at all.
@ThomasRohe8 жыл бұрын
Yep my speech almost returns 100% including jaw alignment and all muscle spasms. However it's a mind eraser. My memory is shot. Thanks for your note and support!

Hey tom, just saw the bit you did with vice and thought it was pretty incredible. I had never heard of ambien being used for anything other than as a sleep aid, and honestly i was pretty skeptical at first, but clearly there is a whole nother level of things this drug could be used for that have yet to be heavily researched. Hopefully that vice bit you did will help to bring funding to something that could improve thousands of lives, best of luck to you in the future!
@dontasktwice190011 жыл бұрын
This is amazing! Is there anything out there would counter effect the drowsiness of ambien? And I wonder if you could take it a few times a day to help with the speech and continue with daily life. Such as talking on the phone Ect. Anyway, I'm glad this works for you man!

Does make me sleepy sometimes, but I try to drink Coke Zero to counter the effect if I want to be in public or do voiceover recordings. It does dull me too. I get a little goofy and loopy, but I think I'm so ecstatic from not being in pain and being able to speak clearly is like a nightmare ending. Can you imagine being in a wheelchair, taking a pill and you can walk and dance again. That's the joy I feel.
@SupraJulie11 жыл бұрын
Does it make you sleepy, or do you have any of the black outs that people on Ambien have when they try to stay awake while taking it?

I'm curious as to why the down votes? Thankfully I can speak a little easier and much less muscle strain, but it's still bad and I'm unable to speak normally, chew anything "chewy" (wish I had that problem with ice cream! ;-) ) and even using an orthotic for the TMJ the jaw still becomes sideways during the day from the hyperstimulation. There's got to be a cure out there without the negative memory effects from the ambien. If you voted down send me a note. I'm interested in why.
@ThomasRohe11 жыл бұрын
Hey ODB, Hamilton's a great guy and so intellectually curious. Was great to talk to someone who's seen this "miracle cure" occur with others. I hope as I always have by putting this out in the public that someone, anywhere, can help me speak again normally. I've tried orthotics for the TMJ that's still there, but the muscles keep pulling it out of alignment. The ambien effect was discovered one night before bed. I took and stayed up a little watching tv with my girlfriend and slowly felt better.

Hi Thomas, I just saw a small part of your appearance on the VICE doc preview. I'm assuming it's been suggested to you before-- but I was curious if any doctors have tried giving you anti-seizure medications...? Also, I highly recommend Ambien CR (extended release). They come in 6.5 mg and 12.5 mg and work for way longer than the 10mg immediate release tabs. Good luck with everything.
@jacquelineyamaguchi879711 жыл бұрын
So excited to see the Hamilton Morris bit coming out soon! Hope it raises awareness to your situation! Did/does the ambien make you lethargic at all through out your experimentation? Also curious as to how you stumbled upon this miracle molecule. None the less I hope you find peace and a cure to your problem Thomas! We wish you the best of luck, buddy!
@rexbob711 жыл бұрын

Thanks Blanco I hope to do some goofy voices again soon too. I've prayed in my way, I've had hands laid on me in prayer, I've asked why...the answer I get is things happen for a reason and I have to remember the reason. I think this allowed an awakening to occur. I'm still working on it, but I think things will turn out well. I appreciate the positive thoughts!
@ThomasRohe11 жыл бұрын
Tried it and no real improvement in that area. However, in the "gimme some cheetos" area...it works well. ;-)
@ThomasRohe11 жыл бұрын
Tori I wanted to let you know that Botox injected internally in my mouth muscles loosens them up, but not to the point where I can speak normally. I'm not as bad as I used to be or as shown in my video. Ambien still works but only temporarily. There's a Dr who wrote a book about the Ambien effect who I want to see, but he's in England. There's also a short documentary coming out with me in about Ambien's positive effects from Vice Media. It'll be on their site. I'm so hoping this nightmare ends.
@ThomasRohe11 жыл бұрын
Hey Irvin, I'm real and the problem and the positive, but temporary effect is real most of the time too. It doesn't always work, but Ambien's been the only thing that does any good. It seemed like a miracle to me. I wish the speaking ability stayed longer than it does.

I don't believe this guy is faking anything. Ambien is a very wired drug it must have some medical value because it should not be used for sleep. It really does not make me go to bed it makes me into a stupid shit.

Wow Ambien is a very wired drug. I will not use it anymore. Soon after my wife left me I got my Ambien filled (30) and woke up the next morning with a whole threw the drywall that a face had done threw. Then I discovered that I only had 6 Ambien left. I had to tell my work that I got into A fight.
