Second hand stores are great for soap supplies, thank you. I am like you, never spray alcohol on my soaps . I do use a deep water discount that helps, but of course that is not a beginner friendly option. Annatto seeds are great for coloring, from yellow to deep orange.
@r.e.holding14 күн бұрын
@cliviascreations yes great point! I also use a water discount- I think sometime fragrance can affect the ashy discoloration too. After sitting for a while, the soap is actually uniform in color now 🙃 annatto seeds are great! I was just thinking this morning about a soap using inexpensive natural colors

@@r.e.holding love annatto, pumpkin purée gives a beautiful orange that last forever, spirulina , alfalfa work for me for green color, indigo for blue (hydrating the powers first works the best for me) not good luck adding it to the butter or the lye, thanks

That's so pretty and a great idea to downsize my soap pieces!!!!! LOL.

I do two things to get rid of soda ash on top of my soaps....one: spritz wet soap with alcohol right after the pour. It helps stop most of it unless you have a difficult soap... 2: gently heat gun the top of the soap. It adds a pretty shine to the top as well.
@r.e.holding15 күн бұрын
@Zone8-jk I'll have to try using my heat gun next time - alcohol alone is usually hit or miss for me 🙃

Such a beautiful execution of the clamshell technique. I never would have thought of working the dark mica in oil into the design. Good job! A couple of hints for ya...powdered sugar instead of granulated (dissolves completely), and tape or draw the boundaries for your mold before you film (to guide you in keeping it in the right place during the filming).
