Just had this very situation show up. Died on the road but was a crank-no-start. Thought I'd pulled the ICP harness (first time dealing with issues on this motor) but I'd pulled the IPR (blindly disconnected) so no start of course. Realized issue after so was going to an air test. Fought IPR out (screen good) while the ICP had come apart when trying to disconnect. Thought had HPOP failure which is fairly common on these early 6.0 so did air test which it failed (gurgled). After work bit by bit over 2 months (truck died in July & is now mid-Sept) I get it back together (CNC Fabrication HPOP) & had no-crank. Started chasing options that could cause PCM to not talk. Nothing worked as still had no crank. Started to suspect harness & was going to start at the power pins on PCM then found this vid. Pulled the middle PCM harness & got it to crank. Pulled the leads from the IPR & ICP (those are the wires you see melted in the video) to check them. No exposed fray. After replacing my old broken ICP (ebay) & oil filled ICP harness found damaged wires but had taped those up & this new inspection revealed nothing that would show a short. But with PCM connected & ICP disconnected I have crank again. Reattach it & back to zilch. Bad ICP it looks like. I'll be royally pissed if I knew for certain all it was just the failed ICP + a damaged random 2 of the 3 ICP leads that caused the initial issue. Video was very helpful. Put me on the way to at least cranking again. Hopefully a new direct OEM & not a ebay-bargain-price-but-Ford-marked unit will fix the issue now.

Short answer is if u have done filter changes/fluid ever 30k-50k you can keep doing it. but IF YOUR AT 80K PLUS MILEAGE AND NEVER DID IT.. DON'T DON'T DON'T. the grit in the fluid is what is allowing the tranny to still move.. u empty it and put in new fluid .. there will be no grit and no go .. the grit is what has wore away internal parts and the grit is filling the gap enough to keep it moving. 85% i have seen at the garage change there fluid at 100k plus end up putting a tranny in the car within a day or a week or 2..

Hello friend, I have a 2002 Mazda tribute V6. I think I made of just overfilled my transmission fluid. I started the car and I could hear like a jingle down below and I got to my driveway and it's smoking. Turn the engine off turn it back on and then the engine just cut off. I'm going to take your advice and open that drain and I guess drain a little bit. And save it in case I need to put it back in. Do you think I did permanent damage? (If it is a transmission fluid that I overfilled?)

For all you hater the only thing I can say is you must be 12 year old and never worked on simple cars, equipment, or anything mechanical. There is only one reason to over complicated a simple engine. THAT WAY 95% OF YOU WILL END UP AT THE DEALER PAYING OUT THE ASS. Ya I could of tested the dozen safety switches. Replaced one today, another in 2 weeks, and 3 more next year. So, who is going to give me the money to pay for China crap over and over. Im not. Do research on stuff before you comment. Most stuff is made to be replaced in 5 years or less.
