@@dwightkschrute24 it is but you can use bait fish. Unfortunately there’s people who don’t release the big fish , I’ve seen a couple gar filled and they just leave the body there. But I always release any fish I catch besides bait fish

That was a soft shell turtle and they feel everything you do to their shells. I'd say be a little more gentle with the next one you release.

Wow, I caught the same kind of fish off the Lake Ponchatrain Sea wall 56 years ago. I caught three of them. On dead shrimp. Thats all I caught also

Penn fierce right? Ijust got a penn battle 2 soze 4000. I HIGHLY recommend putting this reel on a penn squadron iii. 9ft moderate fast medium action option. They have it online at academy. Literally the perfect rod and the right price for this reel. Its only around 70 which is an amazing deel. Tight lines 🤙
