Why not use the relays directly from nano
@TheRealMrLaserCutter
@TheRealMrLaserCutter 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Hamza, that would be a better solution. The reason I did not use the pins straight from the nano was to protect the nano in case I made a mistake electrical. The second reason was I heard reports that the pins did not work consistently.

Hamza Shah hi, I'm thinking about activate a solenoid through a JN, but I heard it doesn't have enough current to activate a base of a transistor, would you mind sharing how you made it work?
@hamzashah9543
@hamzashah9543 4 жыл бұрын
@@leandrovrabelo it does work I never used a solinoid with it ,the best you can do and what I did was use a relay board with one relay on it and connect your solinoid to it I left my relay to switch on and off for hundreds of cycles and it works like a charm Moreover it's very similar to how pi pins work You can just write a python code and it will do the task If you still need assistance hit me up more then happy to guide you

Are you using PyFirmata or standard serial communication between the Nano and the Arduino? Do you mind sharing the code?
@TheRealMrLaserCutter
@TheRealMrLaserCutter 4 жыл бұрын
I think it was just standard serial. I will upload my python script for the nano side of things once I get a chance to set it up again. Il post it here, github.com/gavztheouch/Jetson-Nano-Crop-Sprayer and notify you when I do so. Are you building a crop sprayer too?

How far are you on this currently? A lot of work on that thing. I was looking at UAV sprayers, but since aerial crop spraying is illegal in my country, these rover based sprayers could work.

I will try and post to this forum with updates as well as youtube. thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/autonomous-rover-project.249634/page-2 Slowly but we are coming back into autumn/winter here so I might have some time to get back working on the machine. Have you starting working on a similar project? Do you code or build machines?

How can I communicate with you on this? I am very interested in collaboration. I am an electronics engineer/farmer.

Wow this is such a coincidence! I'm planning to develop a sprayer robot mainly for spraying hedges in the field, but have also considered the use of AI to develop an autonomous sprayer to detect and spray docks. I was thinking of using a rover instead of a drone, but I'm sure many of the same challenges will apply)

bluegtturbo rover is my plan too, wheelchair motors and Motorcross wheels. :)
@bluegtturbo
@bluegtturbo 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thinking too. I'd use a 32A sabertooth R/C motor controller + Raspberry PI to drive the wheelchair motors. Essentially I'm on the lookout for an old electric wheelchair to use for a chassis, and have the option of both remote control and autonomous control using a webcam and a range of motion sensors and GPS linked to the raspberry pi. The remote control part seems far more straightforward. The AI system to activate the sprayer solenoid could use Google's Tensorflow, but I'd prefer a system that doesn't rely on an internet connection. My approach will be to start off working on individual elements of the overall architecture. For example, first develop an image recognition system to activate the sprayer solenoid, maybe just use that on the back of a tractor initially to test and fine tune it. If and when it works satisfactorily , acquire an electric wheelchair and attach it to that, and develop some level of autonomy.

Tensorflow can be run locally on a laptop or even raspberry pi, future pi's will be better at this though. You can see my project on the fast.ai forum under the deep learning section. It's called grassland spryaer. I was thinking about setting up a group to work on this project.

I'm with you on that CNC - a collaborative approach will be fun and hopefully more productive. Thank you for clarifying regarding Tensorflow - that is good news!
