I've been subd to your channel for a while now, and watched most of your vid. I really like and appreciate your consistent dedication to innovation for pastured layers, and I'm truly grateful for everything you have shared and the products you offer. That being said, I have one lingering question ... height of roost vs height of nest. Seems chickens closest cousins nest below and roost above, e.g. turkey, quail, grouse, jungle fowl, pheasant .... well, I'm not an expert in any of these species, and I could be wrong, but seems most if not all of them nest below and roost above, whereas your designs are opposite. You have clearly put a lot of thought and time and innovation in your designs, and seem confident in the nest above roost below model, so my question, if you don't mind, is how you came to be so confident with this configuration? Thank you, I always look forward to your videos🙏
@ChickenCaravan5 ай бұрын
There are many, many reasons why it is this way but the simplest one is hygiene, if the roosts are above the nesting boxes we need to come up with a solution to ensure we don't get manure built up on the top of the nesting boxes. If we put them under we do not have that issue. Great Question.

Dang, I did the dollar conversion and here in the states it's $315 for the incubator and in Australia it's $432. (Currently $649 Australian dollar.) I'm really excited to get my Real24 tomorrow so I can start hatching eggs.

Um I've got quite a few birds and one house they have a run of about an Acker, the coops is covered in straw every 2 months, then taken out for composting, new straw is layed about a foot deep... Compost is a bonus for any gardens you have and better then an fertilizer you can buy, We use or run space half at a time, we water and the grass is fine, this is lazy leaving the floor as it is, and grass areas should be rested as you said, this mobile coop is a dead set waist of money... If you actually take notice of your birds and we have ducks chickens an Ginni Foul... No PARASITES no LICE nothing all lay every day... Dyatinasous earth will stop all of these from getting hold in yr coop .. as far as grass goes is you make a dust bath for them buy making a pile of dust Equally we feed them scrambled eggs with chilli in it NO parasites..... We can let our out and call them in train yr birds to a bell or a small bucket with feed shake it they will figure out the bucket has food and if you do it Daily at same time they will be easy as to manage... The wire is far to big get snake wire a 100mt roll about 300 bucks, no snakes....

Hello Daniel, this is the new 2024 Chicken Caravan 450 model, at the time when the chickens enter the caravan and the doors close, but before the chickens go to sleep. Before night falls, aren't there waterers in the caravan for the chickens to drink water from and feeders for them to feed?
@ChickenCaravan5 ай бұрын
Feeders are outside and drinkers are also outside.

What have been the changes compared to previous 450?
@ChickenCaravan5 ай бұрын
We have upgraded the electronics and options, such as the auto doors and lights. Overall side by side this model functions the same as other Chicken Caravan 450's that were made in the last 2 years, there are small improvements.

Where do you put the water and 10 doz a day is there enough room to load?
@ChickenCaravan5 ай бұрын
you can put a 130L water drum on the A frame. You will collect about 100 eggs a day from this model, you can stack the egg trays on the shelf at the end of the conveyor.

Hello Daniel O'Brien. There is something I have always wondered about. In your country, according to official regulations, how many broiler chickens can you accommodate in 1 square meter area in chicken caravans? Again, in your country, according to official regulations, how many laying hens can you accommodate in 1 meter area in chicken caravans? Could you please answer these questions? Your answers will make me very happy. From Türkiye, I send my love, respect and greetings to you and all Chicken Caravan employees. Hope you have a nice day.
@ChickenCaravan7 ай бұрын
The chicken Caravans are not suitable for Broilers.
@ChickenCaravan7 ай бұрын
In Australia chickens should have access to 15cm of perch space per hen. These hens are free range so we do not look at hens per square metre. we recommend you do not put more hens in the Chicken Caravans than it is made for. Eg a Chicken Caravan 450 houses 450 laying hens.

I have often wondered why I’ve never lost a chicken to a wedge tail despite seeing them all the time. My yard is only 25m x 5m, fenced on 3 sides, the house being the 4th ‘fence’. There are a couple of trees in the corners and raised bed gardens. I’ve had my pic taken with a wedgie on my arm, they are massive up close (and a little terrifying 😅). I’d come to the conclusion that it wouldn’t have the room it needs to take off again so the real question was are they smart enough to know this though? It would seem the answer is a definite yes. Follow old mates advice here
@KimberlyMcCubbin-km6zw9 ай бұрын
It’s worth mentioning however that I only have 3 chickens so don’t be coming at me over their space
