This isn't snapping turtle
@Ryan_Maineaquaria24 күн бұрын
It’s most definitely a common snapping turtle. www.maine.gov/ifw/fish-wildlife/wildlife/species-information/reptiles-amphibians/snapping-turtle.html

Corn snake?
@Ryan_Maineaquaria25 күн бұрын
This is a wild eastern milk snake. Different species but overall very similar in appearance to the common corn snake that is a popular pet snake in the reptile hobby.

Thank you! It’s not perfect but it’s a constant work in progress like most reef tanks.

You can buy cheap veggie clips for tangs and clip a rail of eggcrate to them and super glue the clips shut. You now have a suction cup frag rack.
@Ryan_Maineaquaria28 күн бұрын
Not a bad idea if you only have a handful of frags.

Such a caring soul, thank you so much for saving this adorable turtle, and thank you so much for sharing . Best wishes always.

Thank you for your kind words. I see so many turtles that are deliberately run over and it’s just sad. Luckily this particular painted turtle was only about 20 yards from its destination when I found it.

I wanna do either a 55 or 75 gallon tank. How would the plumbing go for one of those tanks. If the sump is going to be slightly towards the right hand side of the tank. Trying to run a 20-29 gallon sump.
@Ryan_Maineaquaria17 күн бұрын
I would recommend against the 55 for saltwater. If you have the space a standard 75 gallon tank is way better and easier to work with. Also many different sized sumps can easily fit underneath a 75. Plumbing will depend on which side you have your overflow and which side your return plumbing needs to be on. It’s kind of self explanatory once you have the tank, stand and sump in place. But if it’s still confusing you can google saltwater sump setups or feel free to send me a direct message on the Maineaquaria FB or instagram and I can help walk you through it.

This alligator snapping turtle is named Bubba and is a wonderful animal ambassador for his species. For anyone interested in meeting Bubba, he lives at Zoo creatures in Plaistow NH, USA. While you’re there, support this amazing local pet store and ask about their tours of the upstairs breeding facility New England Reptile Distributors.

What led light are u running on the Rubbermaid?
@Ryan_Maineaquaria3 ай бұрын
It’s an old vipraspectra led that I got from a tank buyout. It works and definitely grows coral. I use ecotech radions for everything else and plan to put a pair of XR30’s over this stock tank at some point as well.
