For me that has to be the Set of the Year, I am throwing in 13,000 vip points to take it down to 170, plus I am hoping for a sale on the Globe. I have avoided it but now that time is running out and looking at how well my world map gamble is doing I might just see if a sale makes me grab a few like last years 40% off the world map that made me grab 6. I am no Lego businessman, I treat it more like a bit of gambling and see if I can pick a winner again, will I ever find another Old Fishing Store set or will I keep picking losers like that modular Police Station I still have 3 of...time will tell. Have fun building!

Free and possible are Not the same meaning. Taxes and fees make it more clear to the truth. Just be clear. Maybe say….. how to reduced the cost of the set. Galileo is very famous and that gwp is selling for 40. Minus the fees. Plus the initial cost of getting the gwp. Best of luck, enjoy your vids

I believe investing in anything takes a healthy mix of emotion and maths. I'm sure you also have some successful sets that your emotion picked even when the maths didn't add up.

You're absolutely right. I've had some good investments that were emotionally charged and just got lucky. Gotta take the good with the bad and it never hurts to have luck in your side from time to time.

I buy throughout the year but am very deliberate about what I buy. I avoid paying full price at all possible costs. I'll wait until I see at least 20% off and really won't buy unless I know the set is retiring.

@@nicebrixx1876 Sounds like a good strategy. How do you manage when retirement dates get pushed out? My wallet got murdered with the May the 4th this year. So many sets retirement date pushed out a year or two. Manage to recover costs due to the heavy discount, but still a waste of capital.

Starting to seem like "The Costco Kiss of Death" is a real thing. It "seems" like a great buy and bargain and you are on to a winner only to find they do nothing because the massive amount of stock floods the market and kills any growth. Be very careful with Costco, you might just be stuck with them for donkeys years.

SPACE...Advent Calendars take up so much space, plus the boxes seem way more fragile than other sets and then selling a slightly damaged calendar is impossible, yes you can get them at huge discount in January but then you are stuck all year with huge delicate boxes that are FRAGILE...so fragile they would be crushed if a butterfly landed on it, and the pieces in the sets are worth nothing with maybe one fig being worth the effort.

what kind of volume do you need to be a amazon reseller?

There doesn't need to be huge volume. Amazon puts you through a process and you must show a certain purchase volume from a distributor which can be most any company. When I applied you had to show at least 10 of 1 product on an invoice. Anyone else have a different experience?

Are batmobile sets even worth investing? I feel like Lego makes Batmobile sets every couple of years. Lego Batman is so oversaturated.

Yes, much like the tie fighter and x-wing the batmobile is recycled every couple of years. The big difference is Lego recycles different versions. That offers a bit more variety than your x-wing.

Oh amazing I also live in Italy I have heard some people saying that the batcave shadow box could do as well as the colosseum but in my opinion it won’t happen also there weren’t many discounts . But it’s still a good investment

Great video! I see the individual Batman sets are retiring. Does that mean the Wal-Mart exclusive 3-1 set will no longer be made(be retired at the end of the year)?

It's a combination of both. Often times I look at the number of reviews on Amazon to determine if the set has sold at or around that price. There are sites that offer price trends but Amazon prices can change daily.

I agree with your premise. My primary thought in the ranking was simply about time on the market for collectors to buy the set. In this case, a few Sonic sets will be available for a shorter time than the LOTR Brickheadz. I agree that there are a ton more LOTR fans.

Ungated basically refers to you ability to sell certain lines of products on Amazon. You need permission to sell certain brands. Gated is the term used much like a front gate at a property.

selling prices of retired lego sets on amazon are riduculously high and i wonder why this is the case. i assume it is related to gating and returns. if anyone has information about the difficulty of getting ungated today or has numbers about compromised returns, i wouldbe happy to hear about it

Not related to gating. Fundamentally it's supply and really driven by consumer demand for the product. Most Amazon consumers probably aren't familiar with bricklink or other platforms Lego may get sold at potentially lower prices. And if Amazon takes 15% on toys off the top, plus free shipping, a seller loses about 20% right off the top.

@@nicebrixx1876 i have a hard time digesting this argument. why would a person that is not knowledgeable, like e.g. a grandpa buy for his grandkid a very expensive retired set instead of just buying one from the current lineup for less than half the price? in my mind, almost all peole who buy retired sets are enthusiasts, collectors or investors. in my book all of those are knowledgeable.

I wish I had a better response than, more often than not, Grandparents who can afford to buy extra aren't concerned with price and have no idea what a site like Bricklink even is. Their grandkid is into this theme of Lego and they can ship right to their house. If enthusiasts used Bricklink more often, Amazon prices and demand would dry out. Don't you think? I could be upsetting my business model by saying that but it's true.

In my market the LOTR Brickheadz and Tusken Raider are all out of stock on the LEGO website (not backorder, but temporarily out of stock). Hope we will able to order a few more before EOL.

I do sell brickheadz. Profit and timing depend on the set in question. I've sold sets that are still active for 100% profit, I have brickheadz that are sitting because of the characters. So they'll take longer obviously. Usually with a popular brickheadz I'll see sales within 24 hours of listing. But can be a week or two. A good example is set #40550 Chip and Dale. They've sat for a bit but I can list a lord of the rings, Ashoka, or buzz lightyear and it sells in a day.

I wouldn't say that on bricklink. It really all depends on the brickheadz you're trying to sell. Use Ashoka as an example. On Amazon she's selling for $29.99 but on bricklink she's only selling for $10.75 right now. A big difference. So set and channel matter.

I honestly think Mirabel and Malificent & Cruella could be a banger as well. Disney (lego) fans are willing to spend and noone is talking about it. Also the current sellers on marketplaces but also on Amazon/Ebay and such are not even 1/4th of the for example Star Wars, LOTR brickheadz resellers… at least for these sets and the one with Moana, which i expect will do a tad less. Not sure yet about the Mickey Mouse festive brickheadz which also retires …. In the end. Last set with MM, the multipack didn’t do too well. Not yet at least.

I like minifigures, thought brick built characters are lame. And then something changed and I saw the appeal. But I am wait8ng for my first Brickhearz to arrive, so I could see it for myself are they interesting or not. But there is a market for collectors. Minifigures are getting rereleased and updated. Brickheadz are unique so far. So are Wednesday, Glinda and Elfaba, which look both beautiful and interesting.

None of the Sonic sets have ever gone on Backorder. 2 of the sets you talked about have been delayed till 2025. Brickheadz are lego exclusives. Lego just did a 10 year extension on brickheadz brand
