Oh for god's sake it IS a happy ending. A smiling mother being re-united with her kidnapped son is happy and so are the birds (the Robins from Laura Dern's earlier dream) that fly by. It's simple.

Cant speak for the 70's kids, but as a teenager in the naughts, this was still the absosute shit! What everybody wanted to be. Sleep wanted them to fall into a narcotic sleep, electric wizard tried to hypnotise and QOTSA wanted to take poppers. But beside the fuzz and the 50 bpm, it was just gooooooood

Though they don't come right and tell you, Roy's entire family was abducted. Roy, while he was in the truck. Then, later while he's arguing with his wife, you can hear the kids accusing each other of flying through their bedroom window the night before, which is exactly what happens during an alien abduction. Then, his wife makes up lame excuses just to avoid facing the reality of what's happening, finally saying "It's just one of those things!" It's the most realistic alien movie to date and a great portrayal of what abductees are living through. Like Roy and his family, most abductees aren't even aware they are being abducted. Most audiences don't pick up on it either. That's how brilliant Spielberg was about it.

Robin Hood wasn't socialist income redistribution. He stole from the tax collectors, and returned the money to the tax-payers. He was anti-socialism.

I saw the original 1977 version when I was a child and I saw this with My wife and I was a mess throughout the whole movie. Thank you for reacting to this one.

I’ve watched both versions of this movie. The dubbed version I’ve only ever seen on tv or stream and the subtitled version on my dvd copy I got as part of the Mexico trilogy. For some odd reason in the dubbed version despite the actors speaking English they would still say the most well known Spanish words in Spanish. Ex: amigo/amiga, cuss words, cerveza, etc. would still be said in Spanish instead of English like the rest of the dialogue.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I've recommended it to other reactors a million times but you are only one of 2 so-far that done so. Its easily the most quotable movie I can think of. And as someone who fell in love with music when the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and started playing the very next day I can tell you this movie really captures the sound and attitudes of so many of us new musicians of the time. P.S. And yes most musicians learn to play by playing along to records. Now days there are many KZbin tutorial etc. but back then we didn't have those options.

Mogwai's gig was one of my top 3, maybe even my top 1. Two of the band members kept playing noise at the end for some ten minutes, then left with the delay on, making the noise continue for another ten. That was a wow! "As the love continues," with my red-haired lady that night ❤️

Nope, pure studio music, not what they preferred but they took a great swing at it and your disjointed video does a great album no justice.

The Boston album came out one year before this movie, and at one point in this movie you can hear More Than A Feeling playing in the background. I think it's at the McDonald's when the city's power goes out. So I think there is a deliberate reference there.

barncard here. The hard panning is entirely my fault. The band gave me 100% mixing freedom, a single point of view. I'm a stereo freak, sue me.The drums are not panned to one side, but the acoustics are split hard left and right because their parts are complementary, one strumming, the other picking. Also except for 'Operator' , it was the basic quartet, single drummer.
