injection molding... 3d prints?
@thebrunoserge16 күн бұрын
You didn't 3D print the benchy so it's not the fastest. Benchy is supposed to be 3D printed

This is so cool, but how do you get the 3d printed mold to not have the print layers transfer to the injection molded part?
@sustainabledesign.studio17 күн бұрын
The resin print was printed at a very high resolution. There are layer lines but they are so small it really just makes the product look slightly matt

Plus print time of mold, plus set up time, plus cool time, plus trimming. And end result is a solid benchy missing the features of a benchy

The brick it’s warped because it’s totally solid. And you don’t keep the 2nd pressure high while cooling the part.

Im curious what material was used to make the mold? I would think the melting point of 3d printed material would have made it impossible for injection molding as the injected plastic would melt or fuse the printed part.
@sustainabledesign.studio21 күн бұрын
This is Polycarbonate. Melts at 270c but we inject Polypropylene at 200c. So that difference is enough for it to work!
