I noticed many people look for this video when they went through the same and are here looking for answers. I'm gonna share my case with some advice, I hope this helps: DIAGNOSTIC: I'm on week 5 of recovering from a very similar case. I jumped from a 10 m (32 ft) platform and fell on my feet/butt just like her, and I had a T10 BURST fracture (which is slightly worse than a compression fracture). I'm male, 28 years old, weighting 81kg at 182cm and ~14% body fat (so fairly muscular). Althought the fracture was worse than the one in the video, the doctors said my case was mild and surgery is very much NOT necessary. VERY IMPORTANT: I had no spinal cord injury, I could move and feel everything below the fracure and took an MRI to confirm there was no damage to the spine. They put me on a brace and I went on bed rest for 3 weeks and now i'll be in observation until week 6. If my spine is healing properly, I'll off be to live my life normally. CURRENT STATUS: I'm definetely not healed, but after 3,5 weeks I felt little pain and I'm mostly living a normal life (except I can't exercise and I get tired quickly). I still have restriction of movement since i'm wearing the brace when I'm not laying down, this should be less and less and totally dissipate until week 8. I'm not able to exercise until week 8 or more, and I cannot go back to the gym for 5 months in total. PROGNOSTIC: The doctors looked at my X ray every week (I live in Germany so the healthcare has a lot of resources) and said that THANK GOD I'll most likely be completely fine and I should NOT expect long term consequences or severe back pain. HOWERVER changes are now higher that i'll have back pain and kyphosis when I'm much older, specially if I don't exercise or get fat. MY ADVICES/ WHAT TO EXPECT: - My speed of healing is significantly above average and the doctors did mentioned it. The most important factors: I'm young, I've been lifting weights for years (so my body is very used to rebuilding tissue) and I have very good cardio (which makes your body recover faster). If you're much older, don't have muscles and/or don't have good cardio, unfortunatelly your speed of healing will be significantly slower, maybe it will take you 6-8 weeks to not feel pain. I 'm just saying this to manage expectations and take this context when looking at my case. - For bed rest OR surgery, THE FIRST 3 WEEKS ARE CRITICAL! It's very very important to understand what specific motions you are/are not allowed to do. make sure to think about all the details and ask adivce for your doctor on how to get out of bed, how to stay in bed, where to sit, etc. you use your spine in almost every movement you make, its veeeery important that you adhere to all the restrictions and don't try to push it in any way. This may affect your life forever so DON"T BE A HERO or force your body to move in ways the doctors say you shouldn't. - You'll need A LOT OF HELP. At the very very least to pick stuff up from the floor and help you wash your legs or get dressed. If you live with someone, try to discuss the details with them as soon as you can to manage expectations... For at least 2-3 weeks if not more, you'll need someone looking at your closely. If you live alone, get a family member/partner/friend to live with you or go live with them. As I explained before, the first weeks are critical, so this will prevent you from moving unnecessarily. - The second thing that matters the most and and that it's under your control is your diet. Do some googling, but you'll need a lot of water, protein, and micro nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D to absorb the calcium. If you have no clue about your diet, I suggest you smarten up and figure it out. If you do everything right but your body doesn't have the building blocks to build new bone, healing will take forever. - I asked for the opinion of LITERALLY 11 doctors amongst ortophedist and neurosurgeorns (because a very irresponsible one suggested there was risk for paraplegia so I went panic mode). I haven't got the same recommendation from 2 doctors. Not even once. some said bed rest for 3 weeks, others, 4, 6, 8 or NO bed rest at all. Same with how long I should wear the brace or stop exercising. I say this to suggest you to do your own research and form your own opinion on what your should do. I hope this helps and gives someone useful information (and even some hope!). Wishing whoever reads this good luck and health✌
I was in a horrible car wreck this april. Crushed ribs, collapsed lunh, multiple breaks in my pelvis.Did a number on my spine too: crushed, shattered and broken in the C and T column. Had two rods and 7 screws put in. Walked out of the hospital on my own 17 days after surgery

12/2022, same surgery. Completed therapy 4/23. Rested. Cleared 6/23. Started exercising 7/23. Slow-motion tennis Fall 23'. Shootaround on the basketball court 12/23. More exercise. Went to test my leg full speed on the court 6/24. All good. Full range of motion, full speed. Concerned about JUMPing but I know I can if I want to. I can tell. I can feel it. I was advised by the surgeon and two physical therapists at different facilities to jump off of my other leg or jump off two feet. Still concerned, but I was told that I'll know when I'm ready. My injury never hurt, nor did the recovery, so I don't want to oops, go through it all again, and experience pain! ---- For range of motion after surgery, sit on the stairs, chair or couch. Rest your weight on your hands, lift your butt forward off of your seat, lower your butt slowly towards the ground, keep your hands on your seat, let the gravity of your body safely encourage your knee to bend, YOU determine how low and how slowly you descend, hold the lowest position to subtly break up stiff scar tissue and carefully stretch everything in your knee area. I did this in addition to suggested exercises. Worked for me*. I gained almost full range of motion by my third or fourth follow up visit. ICE! ICE! ICE! Don't rush. Don't be a Hero!

I've seen so many spine injuries due to diving. I'm never going to risk my spine for 10 seconds of thrill. The combined riks of spine injury from accidents in inevitable daily tasks like driving or taking the stairs is more than enough.

holy crap; she had no contact impact with the door on her left; it was just a sudden jolt of motion sideways that made that injury. holy crap; why not all cars should have a 5-point harness/seatbelt?!
