While the "flute" instrument in this game is supposed to be the titular Ocarina, there is a Zelda game with a pan flute! Phantom Hourglass used the Nintendo DS's microphone to let the player feel like they were actually playing it themselves.

Ganondorf is the human form of Ganon. When Ocarina of Time was being developed, there were four games already out. Those were Zelda 1, Zelda II, A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. The backstory of A Link to the Past talks about how a man named Ganondorf entered the Sacred Realm and obtained the triforce with his band of theives (the GBA remaster removes the theives line to fall more in line with OoT) and gets trapped in the Sacred Reallm while also becoming Demon King Ganon. Sometime afterwards Ganon sends an army from the Sacred Realm which unknowingly to those outside got turned into the Dark World due to Ganondorf's evil heart, turning anyone who entered in monsters. The event was known as the Imprisoning War, a bloody battle between Hyrule's Hylian Knights and Ganon's demonic army, all in an event to seal the Sacred Realm/Dark World. This event also turns him into the pig Ganon you fight in A Link to the Past and Zelda 1 (the former is a prequel to Zelda 1 depicting Hyrule when it was still a thriving kingdom). Ocarina of Time was meant to be a prequel to A Link to the Past depicting the events of the Imprisoning War, however this changed to preceding even the war itself soon after. The timeline as of Ocarina of Time's release was this: Ocarina of Time > A Link to the Past > Link's Awakening > Tragedy of Princess Zelda I (Zelda II backstory) > The Legend of Zelda > Zelda II The Adventure of Link. As of 2012, it was revealed in the official timeline that Ocarina of Time has three timeline splits (there was always 2 known splits but the reveal of a third wasnt known until 2012). This third split occurs if Link loses against his battle with Ganondorf (not to be confused with The final battle) resulting in Ganondorf taking Link and Zelda's halves of the triforce and turning into the Demon King Ganon (the blug pig menace). This led to Zelda and the sages sealing Ganondorf away with the full triforce within the Sacred Realm. This is what is known as the Downfall Timeline. As of 2025 the current downfall timeline split looks like this: Ocarina of Time > The Imprisoning War > A Link to the Past > Link's Awakening > Oracle of Ages and Seasons > A Link Between Worlds > Triforce Heroes > Echoes of Wisdom > The Tragedy of Princess Zelda I > The Legend of Zelda > Zelda II The Adventure of Link.

I’ve used suno on 8-16 bar demo tracks I’ve made but didn’t know where to take it. Pop it in suno and it works like an amazing reference track and helped me to take that idea to a full song. But it should NEVER replace real artist, production, ect. If the general public wants to use it like that and just have fun… go ahead! But for professional use to actually upload these songs for sync or anything of the sort will NEVER happen 😂

The final round against Ganon is called Final Battle. The place is set like this, the castle crumbled to make like a whole battlefield, when you get closer to investigate a sound, fire raises from the sides, locking you in, Ganondorf raises from the ruins of the castle conpletly enraged and uses his power to transform into Ganon, on the graphics of the Nintendo 64 you only see the fire around, lighting on the background, Ganon's impossing sillouethe of Ganon with two huge golden swords, his empy yellow eyes, and the single word GANON on white bold letter. It was an impressive sight.

Comet Observatory is actually a segmented song. As you progress the game they add new instruments to it.
@franciscojaviermendezrinco190212 сағат бұрын
The theme if Inside Ganon's Castle, you only hear it when you passed several tests and break a barrier stopping you from progressing. On a note, when you get inside where you start hearing that theme the organ is low, is basically on the background, but while you progress and get closer to Ganon's room the organ sraises in volume until you can hear it more than the other instruments.

Zelda has a great soundtrack and Ocarina of Time kind of serves as the baseline for music in all games after it, it established motives like Zeldas Lullaby, Ganondorf's theme and many more that keep being referenced in the series as a whole. please listen to more Zelda music, id love to see your takes on the musical evoltion of the series, id recommend listening to music from "The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask" as that game is a direct sequil to Ocarina and takes quite a different direction both in terms of themes and music.

Zelda’s Lullaby and Kakariko Village music was first introduced in a Link to the Past.

Dorf means Village in german idk why Ganondorf is named the way he is, the devs probably just wanted a sort of midieval european sounding name for the guy who would become Ganon. German seems to be the language Japanese people most associate with midieval times and typical fantasy settings.

Honestly this was a great reaction, if you want to be more immersed into Koji Kondo's thinking I would highly reccomend listening to Zelda: Majoras Mask along with the help of Toru Minegishi who started his composing debut. When playing Majoras Mask I forget I"m playing a game sometimes just due to the diversity of the characters and the music.

I loved this video, especially how you went in blind and used the music to flesh out what you'd expect to marry with the song. You were pretty much bang on the money in every case. With the Song of Storms (that you said sounds like left to right) in the game a man with a hurdy gurdy tells you the song makes him want to go "around and around!', playing it back to him induces a massive storm which causes his windmill (and the song itself) to spin out of control. This game and its sequel made music such a key plot element that really enhanced both games. Another comment mentioned Mario 64, that one and Banjo Kazooie for N64 had beautifully packed soundtracks as well. The soundtrack for the first Rayman for PS1 was another masterpiece worth listening through!

Super Mario Galaxy OST is really interesting on a pure technical standpoint, because I'm pretty sure it's the first Nintendo game to have an orchestral OST (at least some parts of it), as opposed to previous games which used MIDI-style soundfonts (with a bump in quality with every console generation)

Forest Temple mashup with Goron City makes so much sense... It's amazing how you caught on to the connective undertones between those two locations. Spoilers ahead: . . . . There is a Goron, Darunia, who absolutely loves the music of the forest (from the Lost Woods). They're both connected to the earth element in some ways. Goron City is volcanic. The Lost Woods is green and lush. Both of them are closely-tied to their natural roots. No wonder Darunia feels kinship with the forest. He even has Saria, a Kokiri (forest child), on his back in the credits.

Strongly recommend the Banjo Kazooie (and Tooie) OSTs as they're also N64 games if you want to branch out a little, or as something for after your musical Zelda journey. 😊 Oh, and dorf IS German but it means VILLAGE. No correlation to the character's suffix. 😂

If you want to stick with Zelda I'd recommend Majora's Mask or Wind Waker. If you want to branch out a bit, but stick with Nindendo I'd go with Banjo-Kazooie or something from the Metroid series (probably Metroid Prime or Super Metroid). Moving outside of Nintendo, I'd recommend Doom 2016/Eternal, Halo, or Guilty Gear Strive

Honestly the only song that doesn't really work just as a soundtrack is the final boss one. it just doesn't sound as exciting without all the lighting crashes and ambient sound effects of the battle.

The Gerudo Valley theme plays in a section of the game called the Gerudo Desert. It's made up of four sub-areas, the first of which is called Gerudo Valley. You're right that it's in the endgame, it's the location of the penultimate dungeon. In terms of story, you originally go there because Navi suggests that because Ganondorf is from the desert, it might be possible to learn something if you go there. When you actually get there, you embark on a search-and-rescue stealth mission, and at the end of that you learn that the last dungeon before you face Ganondorf is deep in the desert.

When you first have to go to the Lost Woods to make progress, the flute in the song is dynamic. The Lost Woods is made up of around 10 small sections that look almost identical, The person you have to meet to make said progress is in the deepest part of the woods, and the flute part of the Lost Woods theme is a song she's playing on her ocarina, which she teaches to Link when you find her. If you're going the wrong way, you don't hear the flute at all. When you get closer to the right way to leave each area, the flute fades in. It's at its loudest when you're standing right in front of the right way. Both before and after that point in the game, the Lost Woods theme plays as you heard it here; before because you're not supposed to be there yet, and after because you're expected to have learned the way when the musical cue was guiding you, and the second time you have to go through the Lost Woods to make progress is after the point in the game where the gloves have come off.
