@micheledickey4066 Thank you for all the advise, it is much appreciated. I have an electric kiln. Will try and put a hold and see what the outcome is. I did the water test and there is some dampness on the paper. Kiln was set at 1225 and only reached 1150. Could perhaps be loosing heat somehow? It is a very old kiln. Will do cones and show in next video. Always eager to learn. Thank you once again.

You are so very welcome. I looked back on your videos to see if I could see any videos of your kiln and it definitely needs new elements. If it only got up to 1150 I think that is a huge difference of what it was supposed to go to so I’m not sure it will help to add a hold but you can try. Make sure that you don’t put the mug that you did the water test in back into the kiln! It now has water in the clay and it will explode so be sure to let it dry out for several weeks out in the open then I would bisque fire it and then put it through the glaze. Hope that helps.

Such great pieces!! I love the h colors you use. My favorites are the pots with flowers. I’d love to see how you make the flowers. They are soo pretty. Do you use witness cones in your kiln? You can add a hold at the end of the glaze firing to make it get up to temp until you get new elements. Let yourself do what you want on the pieces. I’m sure you’ll find that people love them. Remember that the clay is food safe as long as it is vitrified! If the firing got up to the vitrifying temperature of your clay then it is food safe. You can check if the clay got hot enough by putting warm water in the mug and place it on a piece of paper and leave it for several hours. If the mug leaves a ring of water on the piece of paper then it is not vitrified. You can definitely refire anything that you don’t like or that didn’t get hot enough. Please use witness cones. I would hate for you to get new elements just because one kiln load didn’t get hot enough. There are so many reasons why this can happen. Please let me know if you have any questions. I’ve been making pottery for 30 years so I’ve learned a lot. Lol Do you have a kiln sitter kiln or an electronic one?

Hi, you are welcome. I did mine bottom side down. So the side of leaf that has more texture must be pressed into clay. Gently roll the leaf onto the clay. Happy creating x
