Good enough to weld up what doesn't show but needs to be there (floorpans), stealthily reinforce a few spots, and do the mechanical work. Is it worth it? Objectively, no. Will it be worth it to motor down the road with it as it organically becomes more superleggera as onlookers stare in complete disbelief? Hell yes.

Good to see the Chicago Cutlass in such good condition! I've never seen a project car so close to completion! just need to get it off the lift and back onto the road.

I have a mustang that looks almost as bad. To keep myself from getting to discouraged with it, I did what any car guy would do. I ignored all the rot and threw in a bigger engine! Keep that Cutlass on the road where she belongs!

thanks for not giving up on the car! its not great but not as bad as i thought. ive had cars that leak oil and i consider it as a rust preventative. I think the chances of oil catching on fire are low. If the carpet is near the exhaust that has a good chance of catching fire especially if it has rubber backing. hope you carry a Fire extinguisher incase something goes wrong.

I am surprised how clean that frame is! Up north here anything with 1/10th that much body rust would equal the frame to be dust but its easily workable. It looks like there was a immense amount of undercoat applied over the years too. I would start with the fuel and brake lines first, don't need a fire or having it roll away into something or someone!

You could fix the floors with fiberglass and cardboard or you could put duct tape on the floor and smear fiberglass to shape it that way too! Do you plan on halfway restoring it? (fixing the floors and not much else)
@jestertech3790Ай бұрын
@@rancidmilk8824 Nah, he's at least got to put some metal in there. With a 4x8 sheet of 18 gauge steel, and a free weekend, I could have that thing pretty solid.
@rancidmilk8824Ай бұрын
@@jestertech3790 Well I said he could. The fiberglass would be the easiest and possibly the cheapest way to fix it. Using metal would be a more proper way to fix it but most people don't want to or can't fabricate. Although I am not sure why we are debating the proper way to fix a car that is a miracle it hasn't snapped in half, let alone the fact it moves under it's own power.
