Love this interview...size matters?... sometimes small, sometimes big...as for someone like Michael Kenna...his small photos are jewels...but for a painter like Mark Rothko...his small paintings do not have the impact...large was his way of bringing one into the painting...Michael Kenna's brings one into the little jewels...

I shot and edited a video documentary with Cody Westerbeck and Joel Meyerowitz right around when they took the pictures Cody shared here, the early 80's I think. We shot on the street in midtown Manhattan with Joel snapping away as they talked and then up in Joel's studio where he had large prints on display. It was after Cape Light and Joel was working on portraits, especially of redheads. Here's the link to this nearly hour-long video I just this minute found on Joel's website. I'm so glad he's got it there because I've not seen my collaboration with them in over 30 years. I had a great time and was hugely honored to work with these two giants. I was 25 at the time, just a kid starting out on my own career as a visual artist in NYC. They treated me with total respect and trusted me to film and edit this piece to my vision. They did a great job covering the material they set out to cover, including a history of Street Photography and I'd like to think I did them proud with my shooting and editing. I hope you like it.
