100% agree with your views on the litter surrounding the prospecting areas. I’m a “cripple” and not only do I take my own trash home with me, but I also take whatever I can pickup from other people! There’s just simply no decent excuse for leaving rubbish behind. It’ll get the access to the places we all enjoy visiting restricted! Unfortunately the first group of people that will be affected is the prospectors, who are not always responsible for the lack of respect of the grounds in which we like to frequent. I enjoyed the podcast mate.. first time listening to you in the podcast format but I am subscribed and view your videos often. Cheers Andrew 🍻🍻🍻🇦🇺

Yes, people really don't understand what we have till it gets taken away and if we can prevent that by taking a bit of litter home and educating others then it's worth the effort I think. Thanks for tuning in appreciate the support.

@@anothergoldprospector I’ve seen it happen too many times in NSW with 4x4 tracks. In that instance, it is other 4x4 track users who are the problem. No one is going to hike that far into the bush carrying the amount of shit left behind. Sadly they’re still not learning because it’s not true 4x4 enthusiasts doing the damage. Generally it’s younger generation that are going through a phase of “4x4’s are cool”

Another awesome episode of "the prospecting podcast" absolutely love the history side of the show. The "shout out" to others in our community. Cripple prospecting is 1 of my new favourites, having a crack after some very difficult challenges in life. Some are physical, some are mental struggles. It seems most of us come to this hobby from some form of difficulty in life. Great to hear "Luke" on the show. He is a top bloke, I have had the pleasure to share a spot with him a few times now. And hope to share more adventures with him and your good self in the future. May we all benefit from the combined wisdom. Fantastic to see your channel growing, the podcast is great. Keep putting out the content mate. Catch up again one day, somewhere, sometime, somehow. Cheers Andy PPA 👍 😊

Good listening, Andrew. Liking a lot the hotspots talk, in this one, what was considered paydirt or not, with the set price of gold, or at times richer ground to work nearby, understanding the history also, like the 1890s land boom and bust here in Victoria. That you've rabbit warren thinking, from the many holes, digging histories, the role of the forestry commission, and later buybacks, in creating the state and national parks systems, that tens of thousands of people had lived in areas hardly anyone lives in today, it's interesting to consider goldfields revegetated, either in pine, or regenerated bushland. Many people used to live in what is now the Dandenong Ranges National Park, Paddy's Ranges, other places you might not consider having lost populations. On the line of surveyors and needs of diggings and the communities that pop up, a great story is of Janet Bowman and the Jordan Valley diggings, she ran a pub on the Cardinia Creek, all the way past Healesville, a road she constructed took 10 years to get the Colony to pay up their promised reward. The surveyor's report led to a mate's ancestor to be a policeman at Benalla to aid the gold commissioner, gold escorts and local policing. The local diggings you uncannily spoke to at Berwick, the Bowmans Road were aka Bowman's Track and also aka "Chinamen's Track", as it were the path the Chinese took, some all the way on foot from Keith, South Australia, avoiding an enormous immigration tax, specifically on the Chinese. I like a good yarn you can tell. Be well!

We'd like to, yes ...although we're looking after mum for about six weeks of treatment, hopefully all well, otherwise thought we'd say g'day at Creswick huh, we'll be eager to get to a gathering, or just a few folk maybe equidistant to each other, on our side of town? Certainly not shy, maybe feeling it currently, but, and do like to talk, interesting we're like Luke, though he didn't say what precisely, but we'd had time off the creeks for years with two spinal surgeries, add a heart one three years ago, hello, KZbin gold! Being in touch would be good, we'll tell you about that fella whose name became synonymous with Monash Freeway delay reports, Ernst Wanke! Pardon the delay, considered typist. I've big ears and they feel a burning! Cheers and onya.

We'll certainly have copious notes to compare on several subjects it seems. And good on you for your reaching out to us. As it's radiotherapy it can be gruelling, I'm hoping we'll overcome this with healthy ethnic cooking. We're in Narre Warren so you know. We're uncertain if Creswick is an option, just started the radiation. If you were to look at the creeks prohibited list, and in relation to the southeastern suburbs, and the hills, perhaps you'd have some thoughts or questions, as only Dandenong, Cardinia and Toomuc Creeks seem listed as off-limits... Areas preserved through heritage and what's actually there, also a mismatch, trashed through treated with insignificance as sports fields, and neglected with masses of dumped rubbish, indigenous significance, but they don't talk nor co-operate. Native Police Corps at the Dandenong Police Paddocks. Gets us angry then sad. Hope to catch up soon, mate, thanks again.

An excellent example Andrew, of what I term diagonal thinking, ball of fire fusion reactor 8 light minutes away in the sky. I thought it was for the reason of cheering or jeering crowds that it's better at night... detecting, that is, ha. Is the GM waterproof? Creek detecting is the thought, we'd seen the GM used to look for concentrates of heavies, rather than just on the search for nuggets, but enough flakes or specks sets off that detector. We'd have said wind and rain are good cover for the noises detecting and panning involves, maybe not flooding rains and falling branches and trees, they're unexpected finds you don't want to make. Were going to do a long explain on three-colour low-vis, but certain white lights don't work well at night, attract insects... and people! Yellowy incandescent light shows yellow metal better than LED whites. As you're techy, have you looked into this? Our angle was using a UV torch looking for sapphires in gravels, they shine pink, with the heavies centred, and a strong bike torch, waterproof and USB rechargeable, for looking under the water. Good gear display, btw. We'll have to get our nephew a rod bag, we've been on the lookout for a sizeable cricket gear bag for the Water Rat sluice, so any onlookers might wonder, where's the cricket ground I'm taking a shortcut through the bush to?! Onya, G of Narre.
@anothergoldprospector
@anothergoldprospector 7 күн бұрын
The GM is incredibly good at finding small gold and species, It is waterproof to the unit, eg the shaft and coil are not the brains, I use infrared on my headlight when detecting then switch to LED when I'm digging a target otherwise yes its a bug fest haha I put straps on my high banker and wear it as a backpack, which makes it easy to trudge through the bush I find, but a cricket bag would work too.

Yep, the creeks overflowing about Dandenong, Narre Warren, lots of parts. The panning in the garage is perfect, maybe not the lighting, ours is a dark hole, too! Lesson is to fill the pan bottom, maybe three scoops, otherwise we're remembering the mounded up pans, half magnetite, and we've seen large flakes float off in the rapid flow as it doesn't stratify at all well with that much black sands, but that's the novice or lack of experience, the gap in our teenage years, but going to the same spot on that creek has always produced, hard to get to, never spoken about, except for that one mention I'd read as a kid, one of those spiral-bound local history collection of family stories. A ship's doctor disembarked illegally at Melbourne, 1853... Enough yacking, taking 90yo mate shopping, too wet for her to drive. Her ear gets chewed for info, of course. Her house growing up had bottles of mercury, former gold commissioner's! Onya, stay safe, slippery mud even with 4WD treads, slidey slalom gullies😮
