Modial Splash Overs needed more love. I'm surprised that Canada's Wonderland keeps this after the Cedar Fair parks removed the HUSS Top Spins.

It's good that you have a heat bulb area to bask. But I recommend having a UVB bulb as well, which wouldn't go through the top of the tank lid. I apologize for a comment on another vid where I assumed there was not enough area to bask or heat lamp. Too many people get turtles on a whim with not enough research sadly so I jumped to conclusions. My 3 yellow bellied sliders belonged to a neighbor who kept them with their fish. They had no basking platform except for 3 pieces of floating Styrofoam. They had no basking or uvb light and were only fed fish flakes. It took a year to fully clear up all shell rot, and get all the built up scutes to naturally come off from being able to bask. Am always on the lookout to help people better take care of their animals.

I have the UVB bulb now but the light doesn’t look too different. Does everything else look fine. Thanks for the comment and help. Also how many times should i feed them? Once in two says or three days? They are both 8-9 years old girls.

@arslanchandoo as long as the uvb bulb isn't blocked by Glass or plastic it should reach them which will be good. For feeding I mix different foods like mealworms, lettuce, dried shrimp, and different turtle foods. For their age/size I would say every other day is fine. You could also do every 3rd day if their shell is 6 inches. The amount should be around what would fit in their entire head if it was Hallow. Think of the entire turtle head like a ballon that instead of filling with water or air would be food. The green lettuce I put straight in their tank for enrichment since it floats and they normally eat plant matter in the wild. I don't count this as part of what would fit in their head, and it is more of a bonus I give them. A tip to reduce ammonia levels and dirtying the tank is to feed them in a different container outside of it. It helps reduce the maintenance needed for the tank.

You can make a basking area out of egg crate and put the heat lamp and uvb above. It is necessary for their shells to fully dry, stay healthy, and shed scutes. It is a ton better and bigger than what you currently have, and you can even put it up with pvc pipes to the point where it stands up above water level so they have tons of room to swim and bask.

Is basking area not enough? They bask a lot for continuous 7-8 days and then they just don’t bask at all for 2-5 days. They are very healthy turtles and the bigger one shed so many scutes. I thought shedding scutes is an issue. I didn’t know it’s being healthy for them lol. I did not get your pvc pipes idea. Do you have a video or pic for it?

@arslanchandoo if you look up "egg crate basking area" on youtube several videos should show up. I think turtlegirl has one with the pvc pipes on bottom like mine, and I'm sure some others too. The egg crate type will help because you can put the basking & uvb light directly above it so they can absorb uvb properly. It also let's them dry off completely even under their shells which can help prevent shell rot from moist areas.

Also, if you get a different top or use an egg crate as makeshift top. You can put the egg crate basking area you built above water/tank level completely, allowing for tank to be fully filled with water, giving extra gallons of swim area. The best part about this type of basking area is the fact it is pretty cheap overall and easy to make. Just use a file or sandpaper to wear down where you cut the eggcrate, buy one or 2 eggcrates, some pvc pipes, and zip ties.

They need a heat lamp and I say lower the water so they do not have to struggle to get up on the basking area

I already have the heater in the water. Secondly if i lower the water my filters will not work. They just don’t flow the water until water level is there where is it in video.
