I've always loved the two equally but if I had to choose, it would be Batman 1989. That movie hit like a sledgehammer when it came out. I was 7 years old who had no idea who Batman was at the time but going to the theater to see that movie instantly birthed a lifelong fan which led to me being there opening weekend to see Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.

I thought you were gonna compare batsuits because I actually like the Batman Returns suit better. It looks more like armor and less like a muscle suit. As far as the films go there is no comparison. Batman Returns sucks. It's not as bad as the next two Batman movies but it isn't half as good as 89.

Batman 89; especially for how the Batmobile looks, me preferring the look of the Batsuit, 89's Gotham being slightly more true to the comic's vision of Gotham, and Batman himself not being so awkwardly out of focus so often.

Batman Returns for the w! I also think it's the best film out of the entire franchise including the Nolan and Reeves eras. #NotSorry

The Tim Burton's Batman films are great in my opinion. Very much unappreciated and underrated gems. They don't get as much respect as the Nolan films. It's sad we never got a third Tim Burton Batman film.

Returns cause it’s darker and 89 feels light but not saying it’s not good. I like a more darker tone. one thing for sure prefer keaton than the nolan’s dark knight trilogy

89 for me. I'm actually amazed at how many KZbin videos praising Returns and saying it's their favorite Batman movie. Only if that's somehow their introduction to Batman do I almost understand it

I really like both... Jack Nicholson IS the 'PERFECT 'Joker for the Michael Keaton's "Batman"!!! When "Batman Returns" came out, I was thinking "Danny DeVito?" Didn't watch him in "Taxi" - so didn't really know him, except in movies like "Twins" with Arnold Schwarzenegger & "Throw Mama From The Train" with Billy Chrystal... He was 'kinda' Wimpy & Comical to me... After Seeing "Batman Returns", Mr. DeVito IS the Perfect Penguin... Batman had better storyline, actions, & outcome.... But Batman Forever Had Mr. DeVito Steal the movie for me... I think "Batman Returns" is the better of the 2...

1989 and the soundtrack too

Batman’89 is a movie, Batman Returns is a film. Both great, but one is studio led and one is Director led.

I prefer Batman '89, Joker is the better villain and I find him more interesting than Penguin, not saying Penguin was a bad villain, he was good but not good as Joker, Catwoman was great too but I still prefer Joker, Gotham City looks a lot better in 89, it was larger , I like the Gotham in Returns too but felt too small, I guess Burton didn't have enough budget like he did with 89, overall the suit in 89 is better but I did like the cowl and logo more in Returns, the soundtrack and action scenes in both films are equal in my opinion.

Returns is better, Catwoman/Selena is just the best character overall in the Tim Burton verse.

It's always been Batman 89 for me. I prefer pretty much everything about it over Returns. The suit, set design, music, batcave, even the more matte black paint of the batmobile compared to the more glossy look of Returns. I've also always considered BR too much of a weird Tim Burton movie with Batman rather than a Batman movie directed by Tim Burton. I've come to appreciate it a little more in recent years, but it's still 89 by a wide margin for me.

What's crazy about Batman Returns if u read the original script that was written by Sam Hamm he wrote a whole origin story on where his family money comes from and the reason why Jack Napier killed his family which tied in. The sequel would've been better though Penguin and Catwoman didn't have no arc like in Batman Returns but they felt more like their comic book counterparts.

btw...if hala is played by someone who is 60, I don't understand why henry cavil couldn't play superman.

Batman v Superman’s Batmobile is probably the most versatile version. Mixture of 89 style with the functions of the Tumbler.

Waylon Jones is never referred to as killer croc and I’m hoping that this version of the character doesn’t get his life ruined from the incident where Bruce Wayne was looking for the kids and he and the fellow carnival performers assaulted him thinking he was a child predator although that would make for an interesting inciting incident to set him from being a carnival performer with a rare medical condition to a criminal who uses the benefits of said condition to help in his schemes

Hi mate can I just point out that Barbara Gordon was a defense lawer in this not a copper. For my own opinion I mostly enjoyed it, but didn't feel they used Batman enough in his own series, and I didn't like what they did to some of the chacters
