The Belladonna series was my favorite! Read the entire 3 book series in a month. 😅 it reminded me why I love reading! A favorite standalone was the house of Eve (historical fiction) and Daisy Darker (mystery)

Noooo I disagree on the romantasy part, I loved that they don’t really interact until later in the book! I don’t want then to be all lovey dovey by chapter 2, give me Tension, Slow Burn, Teaaaasing, and she gave that to us 👌 will take any other slow burn fantasy recommendations btw 👍

I worry about the romance part in book 2. Because that end in book 1 was a bit weird with kingfisher and I suspect that there might be some love triangle trope OR worse and Kingfisher will be another Tamlin and I really really really hope that's not the case. But the fantasy part will be awesome for sure!

Stormlight Archive when the first sentence of the second prologue is literally “Szeth Son-Son Villano, Truthless of Shinivovar, wore white on the day he was to kill a king.” And then it proceeds to describe the character utilizing lashings with his shardblade with absolutely no context as to what any of that means, other than some dudes definitely died because of it.
@Plutonium.216 күн бұрын
So a guy with a name used a blade to cut things? Did you need a map? That’s not exactly the hardest to understand it’s just his name and the name of a kind of knife…
@laurelelasselin16 күн бұрын
@@Plutonium.2... Not to "well actually" you but I feel like you haven't read Stormlight, because I am assuming from how you've phrased this (correct me if I'm wrong ofc) that you don't know what a Lashing is in the context of the Stormlight Archive. It's a kind of magical spell thing that changes the way that gravity works around you, and to be fair it is explained a bit in the prologue (but not much, and then isn't brought up again until like pretty far into the book). Then in the prologue it brings up that Szeth is Truthless and should as a result do certain things (not elaborated on), some random religious stuff (not elaborated on), the mention of something called spren (not elaborated on), etc. This being said, it's an amazing series and I recommend it to anyone reading this comment who hasn't read it lmao Edit: Christ just realised how long this comment is, sorry
@Plutonium.215 күн бұрын
@ haha no it’s totally fine laurel my point is just that this is fairly standard world building. I’m sure they are excellent books and don’t worry about a long comment
