Hard to understand why you couldnt get another decent job going in 3 years. If the boss didnt have your back, hes never gonna have your back. Hard life lesson you still are gonna learn.

Yes I agree with this to an extent. You can have a great career as an EA working with the right leaders or you can find yourself wanting to do something else and it can be a great launchpad if you have the right mentorship/understanding how to craft your story when you’re applying to other jobs.

All that matters to a company is income: sales, reduction of waste, lowering expenses wherever possible. Your opinion is worthless and could even be used against you (although most people are not important enough to merit that effort).

Who's give exit interviews. They just dismiss people without cause.

I really like Ally Love, but I found the constant interjections from the interviewer very frustrating. My goodness, just let her speak! There’s no need to say "okay," "yup," "mhm," or share your own opinions after every statement. It would be so much better if the interviewer could ask a question and then simply listen without interrupting as she answers. Staying silent while she speaks would make for a much smoother conversation. It really got on my nerves!

What to say during an exit interview from a toxic job? Nothing. The less said the better. Remember: silence is both deafening and speaks volumes.

I can't think of a reason I'd ever entertain an exit interview. Seriously -- what's in it for me? Genuinely asking. If they're looking for a business consultant to analyze and provide a verbal report about culture/organization, they can pay my business-consultant rates. If it's valuable enough to ask for, and valuable enough to provide, why would I give that away for free?

I completely agree. Sadly, far too few people think the way we do. Too many people forget that ours is a capitalist system and that, in the end, it boils down to what the other side is willing to do to induce my participation. Far, far, FAR too many workers are too willing to accommodate their employers' impositions and as sexist as this sounds, I attribute this phenomenon to women in the workforce and their inherent desire to be liked and accommodating.

This is actually great advice. Folks, feedback is a gift. Being in corporate leadership, I have read a lot of exit interview write-ups. Most companies take this very seriously, and although it’s too late to help you, help your friends or work colleagues. Use this opportunity to professionally provide feedback. The corporate ship is big, so it’s not going to turn quickly, but with enough feedback over time change will happen, but you will be long gone. And if you attack someone by name, it is usually not as well received, totally agree.

Still double speak and management key words that are ignored the minute you walk away. My exit interview would be "Beholden to nothing but the dollar, this company no longer cares about people. Whether it's the patients or the workers. People come and go faster here because number one the pay is too low and number two there is no reward for hard work." Pretty much sums up every single job I have quit in the last 5 years. The culture has changed, and no matter what the HR or CEO's or management staff come up with, the way they did it before this dollar chasing corporate culture worked. We worked years for companies that paid us well, gave bonuses instead of pizza or plaques. Had the bosses onsite instead of some ivory tower in a big city far away. The bigger the divide between the CEO and the worker, the less likely your company will have happy employees.

Sorry to rain on your parade. HR and the Company / Corporation they represent do NOT give a flying f@ck about what you have to say. They are just firing you (or forcing you to quit), generally because you do not fall in line with their hierarchical, top-down, fascist power structure. Just walk away: don't waste your time and don't validate their hypocritical pretense of "listening to your feedback". It's that simple.

@@brysoncain7506 there’s a 9 year old video of MeBeast recounting the first time his Mom found his YT channel. She thought it was stupid until she saw his analytics and that he earns money. He literally says she started annoying him by calling it his “KZbin business” instead of a channel and only thinking about money. A DoD prison warden with money on their mind sounds scary

I would never want to be a KZbinr, I used to want to become one but now that I think about it, when it becomes WORK, as in you HAVE to do it for your income or else it’ll stop and your channel will die and you’ll lose all the revenue, that’s when the novelty of it not being a traditional job wears off

The thing that made me feel guilty is that amidst all the stress of the job or coworkers that dont do their share, there still was plenty of people there that did care to put forth the effort. So, that said, it may not seem like people should be guilty, but it’s okay to feel sad you’re leaving behind the coworkers you do care about but it’s also important to understand that it’s better for you mentally, physically, EVERYTHING, to put your mind first over a job that’s ripping you apart.

Everything said here should be done all of the time even without an impending layoff. Once the layoff is known, or even suspected, send out resumes and start interviewing. You want to get another job even if you're not one of those targeted for layoff.

I had a very disengaged manager previously and did pretty much what you mentioned; however, I was let go with no reason shortly after, likely due to being a significant threat to her job status. My work, which could be proven by always being at the top of KPIs in many categories, apparently became my demise. I'm now stuck with a very mediocre job due to the incredibly tough job market as we speak, which falls on me as I took a leap of faith in moving jobs. Great content as always, and I look forward to reading your book in the near future.
