Also the new nightmare movie was taken from an italian horror movie that was the exact movie but instead of it being nightmare on elm st producion filming it was a movie a washed up actress was put into to make her reborn as a scream queen who gets so involved in the character she is playing that she turns into the killer she is playing living out the movie in real life. Wes cravens best works were all taken from italian master works in my opinion which i learned later in my life and liked him less as i got older the otiginals he took from were literally master works of cinema. I do give wes craven credit for last house on the left though for a first movie it was scary and well put together so i have to give credit where cresit is do. Sorry i just had to let you guys know after hearing you talk about new nightmare.

Wes craven stole a lot of things from Dario Argento and during the wheel chair scene being to big it is very Susperia because they purposely made things bigger in that movie to give a more dream like feel. That said this is my favorite movie in the series. You guys have good taste I also love ticks! that episode made me subscribe to your channel. You guys are great keep it up. I would love if you did an Argento movie sometime like creepers or Susperia or anything really thanks for your channel and taste.

Thanks! We actually DO want to cover Susperia one day. Its such a wild and beautiful film! We are going to post the picture of the Ticks prop, plus some other cool props on the shows FB and instagram this week if you like to check it out.

Even as a slasher film, I can think of a bunch of films from that period that are better than Sleepaway Camp.
@jwinter7572 ай бұрын
I love Urban Legend! Like y'all said, even though it's a rip off of Scream and I know What You Did Last Summer, it's still a fun movie to watch. 90s slashers are my favorite, especially if it's one where you're trying to figure out who the killer is. I wonder if the Pop Rocks showing up during Parker's kill was supposed to be a cheeky clue for the audience to the killer's identity since Brenda was the one who was asked to eat the Pop Rocks during that class? My family actually has an inside joke about this movie. In the early 2000s, my mom went out and got her a new winter coat. She was so excited to show us what she bought and when she did my brother and I burst out laughing. It looked just like the killer's parka coat from this movie. My brother and I both love horror movies so of course we were roasting her like "You planning to kill some college students later?". She still has this same coat and will text us when she's wearing it, but even she gets confused about which 90s slasher it reminds us of. She'll send a text that says, "I'm wearing my I Know What You Did Last Summer coat!" And we're like "Urban Legend!". So happy y'all covered this movie! I feel like Urban Legend and The Faculty don't get the recognition that other 90s slashers do.
@GrindhouseSyndicateHorrorPod2 ай бұрын
That’s a really good catch about Brenda and the pop rocks. I do wonder if that was done intentionally or it just happened unintentionally. Either way, intentional or not, it is a great foreshadowing of the killer’s identity. They actually do a great job at not tipping us off as to who the killer is, so its cool to have that little hint. It’s great to hear about other siblings having little horror inside jokes that their family doesn’t understand. We still do this quite frequently! We are really glad you enjoyed the episode. 90s slashers just have that nostalgia feel that others can’t replicate. The Faculty was actually one of our first movies we covered for this very reason! -Jordan

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. It made me think about things in the movie that I never thought about before, like the burlap guy already being in the house when they got there. I loved that y'all talked about the music and the record player. I still get freaked out by that song and record players in general because of this movie. The Strangers is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. I remember seeing just the trailer for it and being so freaked out for weeks. It's actually the only movie I've ever snuck into. The trailer scared me so much that I was like "I have to see this in theaters!". The only thing that made this movie a little less scary for me was that the friend was played by the guy who plays Dennis in It's Always Sunny. That scene of him walking down the hall and getting shot though was great. I'm excited to hear more of y'all's podcast and learn more about horror movies!

We are so glad you enjoyed the show!!! One of our favorite things is to point out stuff thats not as obvious or might make the movie more interesting. The Strangers is one of the few movies that actually creeps us out, and I personally think that its very underrated. Thanks for the feedback and we hope you enjoy our other episodes as much as this one! Have you seen the remake yet?

@@GrindhouseSyndicateHorrorPod No I haven't seen the remake yet, but I did hear it wasn't that great. I'll still probably watch it though. I saw The Strangers Prey At Night and thought it was okay, but definitely not as good as the first one.

Perfect pronunciation 👍🏻 thanks guys, really enjoying your Pod. I love the movie, but didn’t know a lot of the background. Also, conflicted if I should like the movie because of problematic Polanski. You can also cover Poughkeepsie Tapes - so underrated.
@GrindhouseSyndicateHorrorPod4 ай бұрын
Yeah I completely understand regarding Polanski’s history. I know we didn’t talk much about it on the episode but my personal opinion is that a lot of people outside of him put a lot of effort into making this movie great and it would be a shame to look down or ignore the art that they collectively created, due to one person. With that said, I wouldn’t judge anyone if the chose not to watch due to his past. On a side note, we would absolutely love to add The Poughkeepsie Tapes to the schedule. I think that will make for a great episode!!!
