I dived the Mixon hole nearly 50 years ago and remembered the blister balls lying on the sea bed, and an old pot with a “rag” attached that turned out to be a squid, big puff of ink. Happy days.

When they start bumping you like that, that should be your cue to get out of the water. As open ocean predators where food is scarce and they cant afford to pass up meals as often as other sharks, once they feel you out...you could very well be on the menu. Read into survivor accounts of the the USS Indianapolis being torpedoed encounters with white tips.

Love the doggie coming out at 2.28. And yep, they're pollack. The protruding lower jaw gives it away.

Typical bumping behavior of the oceanic white tip, got a nice visit from one in Hawaii and got it on film, check it out.

yes that is correct divers are trying to spread the word to go lionfish hunting in the carribean because they are an invasive spiecies and kill(not to mention eating) over 1000 fish in thier lifetime, and they have no natural predators and are rapidly increasing. divers are helping by going lionfish hunting (spearing them). and somtimes they will encourage the yop predators to eat them, like eels, groupers, and reef sharks. lionfish also taste quite good if you cook them right so they are encou

Damn White tips scare me. They are the only shark for whom humans are genuinely "on the menu". They are never in a hurry, so you can hang out with them safely for a good while. But if you were to spend long enough in its vicinity, it will eventually eat you. Simple as that.

How long did you penetrated, was there restrictions, silt places?

The shark probably got attracted by the electric field of the camera. I once saw footage of black tip sharks swimming calmly but then totally going nuts after someone took a picture with a huge camera.

@dahermitcrab In curacao you can see them at less than 20 meters, have seen several this way. And they are killing them there but it's because they are not from that habitat and have no natural enemies in that area and they reproduce rapidly.

Wow excellent footage, but scary stuff...most times the shark circles around to enquire, then leaves. Good job keeping your calm. The oceanic white tip is not to be underestimated (or misunderestimated, as a former US President would say) ( : Where is this btw?

Great footage. I do photo ID on seals in Cornwall for Cornwall Seal Group and have tracked Cornish seals to Lundy and Devon mainland, so was looking at your video. It seems your friendly seal was firendly with another diver the following year - simonAvery on 04/08/08. If you send me your email address I will send you the matching photos for evidence! I've called this lovely female '3' after the black marking on her left neck. [email protected] V exciting!
