Hi do you have any of the algorithms figured out, especially the 3-piece edge swap without messing up the corners? I have the same puzzle and have the corners and centers solved, but not the edge pieces.
@puzzlemax1323 күн бұрын
I don't really have any algorithms for it. I used mostly intuition and familiar moves to solve it. The way I solved it was by first returning it to a solvable "3x3" situation. So I used a combination of skewb and 3x3 moves to make sure that all 6 centers were correctly placed and that the outermost corners, the pieces with 3 colors, were in a solvable state (no single rotated corner). After that, I reduced the edges to what they should be on a regular 3x3. The series that I did in the vid was the 3-cycle that I used to swap in and fix the edges. It moves things around, but as long as you do and then undo a skewb turn, you won't mess up the ability of the corners to orient properly. Once all of the edges were reduced, I placed them like a normal 3x3 to check for edge parity. There is a possible edge parity, but it's a reasonably easy and intuitive fix. After all of the edges were reduced and correct, I started to reduce the corners. The series that I did in the video also works fine for reducing the corners. Skewb move - CPS - undo skewb move. As long as you make and then undo the skewb move, you won't mess up the edges that you reduced. Once I had all of the corners reduced, then I just finished the solve like a normal 3x3. Sorry for the lengthy reply. Im hoping to do a tutorial vid for this puzzle in the future, but hopefully everything I've mentioned has been helpful. Basically, the series goes: 1) return centers and corners to a solvable position with 3x3 and skewb moves 2) Reduce edges, check for parity and fix if needed 3) Reduce corners 4) Solve like a 3x3

@@puzzlemax13 That's a lot of very useful information and something I can get started working on. Thanks for answering my questions, much appreciated!
@jtliu00013 күн бұрын
When you get the single rotated corner, how did you fixed that 1st case? I am also getting an 2nd case where I have only 2 centers that needs to be swapped, not sure if it's related to the 1st case. Also after you performed the 3-cycle edge swap algorithm (and undo the skewb turn), did you fix up the corners afterwards or continue with swapping other edges and worry about the messed up corners last? I fixed up the corners after performing the 3-cycle edge swap algorithm and noticed that the edges that I thought was swapped correctly, didn't get swapped after all.

Completely understandable. I tend to spread the solve of this puzzle out over a few days. I've actually taken to writing down the setup moves I make, no matter how minimal they are. It's saved me a few headaches. I still tend to mess up the solve at least twice, usually due to hastiness.

Hi! how to solve situation when only two center pieces have to be swapped?
@puzzlemax133 ай бұрын
As long as you solve the edges first, you should never come across a case where there are only two centers swapped. If you've solved all of the edges and still have two swapped centers then you've either got two edges also out of place, or the puzzle has been taken apart and rebuilt incorrectly.
@YuriyEvdokimov-fo4ej3 ай бұрын
@@puzzlemax13 Thanks! I 've alreaady figured that out. I just used your methed for for corners PLUS puzzle, and got either two centers either two little edges swapped,, but those littles edges so easily flipped out, I just maybe set them back wrong. Now I just swapped them mechanically and solve the puzzle further.

Useful but I have parity
@puzzlemax134 ай бұрын
What you mean by parity, is likely a false equivocation situation. There's no technical "parity" on this puzzle. I'm guessing that you have two wing pieces that need to be swapped. I cover that fix near the end of the video. It's a matter of building a 3-cycle that uses two identical pieces and the position of the remaining piece.

Has anyone encountered this "Sengso Crazy 4x4 V3" puzzle being hard to turn in the middle layer, as if the "bandaging" mechanism got stuck or something? I have encountered this happening twice now.
@prestonsmith31375 ай бұрын
Very difficult puzzle. I followed SAV's tutorial solving the centers first for v3. At the end of my solve I had a flipped edge or a swap of 2 pieces. As much as I tried I couldnt create a 3 cycle. SAV had an example of this parity in v2 and used the redbull alg but that would mess up the centers if Im correct. I guess I could fix them, Ill try it. ***Edit I found the parity fix for a flipped edge and corner swap. See the video on my channel:)

I'm working on doing a few tutorial/helpful tip vids for these puzzles. I've yet to come up with a format that I like, though. The 4x4 V3 is definitely, IMO, the most difficult of the series. Since I've yet to actually "understand" my own method for the solve, it will probably be the last one to be made. I can solve it, I'm just not sure that I can explain it yet lol.

I came to watch this only after solving the puzzle on my own, I had a few different steps and a much less efficient method, I have 40 move algorithms... But the algorithm for outer triangles was exactly the same, only with a different angle of holding the cube, I guess it is the most efficient one. Great video, it was fun comparing methods.

Do you think it's possible to have a planet series with any of these higher order crazy cubes? Maybe the 5x5 would make more sense compared to a 4x4. I wish I didnt get the crazy 5x5 with aesthetic corners. I thought maybe there might be a mod in the future to change its face type.
@puzzlemax135 ай бұрын
The 5x5 could potentially turn into a planet series... They'd likely function very similar to their 3x3 counterparts. The biggest issue would be the inside corner pieces that would potentially allow for more possible states.

Great tutorial!! How about jumbling?
@puzzlemax136 ай бұрын
I've yet to try a jumbled scramble on the real puzzle. I've attempted it a few times on the pCubes simulator with no luck. Jumbling creates some crazy internal bandaging that makes returning the puzzle to cubeshape very difficult. I'm also not sure if the jumbled scramble moves things from their appropriate orbit. If the only difficulty added by a jumbled solve is returning it to cubeshape, I don't think I'd enjoy the solve. However, if like the helicopter cube, those jumbling moves actually make the entire solve a new experience due to orbit changes, I'd be willing to give it a try one of these days.
