As a teenager in the early 1970's I would cycle to Vigo Bridge with school friends to watch mostly classes 37, 40, 45 and 47 going up and down the 1 in 37 incline, especially on summer Saturdays!
Now, some 50 years later and with nothing more than an iPhone I like to capture anything out of the ordinary on the bank or at Barnt Green or Bromsgrove stations or one of the many bridges or crossings on the line ...wherever I can get my bike to take me!
I decided to share these on KZbin for the benefit of others who may live too far away or are unable to make it themselves and would like to share in the nostalgia or simply enjoy the trains.

Excellent video of an excellent tour! I was sat in the Scotrail Mk3 closest to 45118, and I could hear it on the climb up the Lickey from my seat. Definitely a highlight of my year! 😀

Hi Paul.My name is Phil i did 50yrs on the footplate I started at Edgeley shed in 1961 i moved to Trafford Park 1962 to 1964 I returned to Edgeley i did my time out in2011 at Longsight Regards Phil.

Thanks for sharing that Phil, what a fantastic achievement! As a teenager in the ‘70s I remember watching so many of these from Vigo Bridge on the Lickey Incline - few and far between these days so have to watch as many as possible.

Not QUITE the same engine, 45s b series engine, 47s c series engine, mainly different turbo inter cooling. But the 47s were later derated to nearer the 45s power. BUT a train with a 12 cylinder Sulzer at either end is something to treasure.
