That's not a township, that's an informal settlement. It probably mushroomed a few years ago. Townships are more developed. And that sombre music is so inappropriate. Plus those people are not as displaced and culture less as the people living in the projects in the US. They certainly don't need your sympathy. Do you see any starvation there. How dare you focus on the negative aspect of a country that is so diverse and undiminished. This video is wrong and racist in all senses of the word.

I saw these places with my own eyes back in 2001. We actually took a wrong turn and ended up driving into one of these areas. There was a doctor entering a medical centre at the entrance and he looked shocked at us like what were we doing there? However, there didn't seem to be any danger. It looked as quiet and peaceful as in this video. People just going about their lives. Talking about that holiday actually brings back memories. I remember my father tipped the guy at the petrol station, it was about £5 when converted, and the guy ran around showing other employees and jumping up and down with excitement as if he had just won the lottery. Really puts life in perspective.

Nobody should Ever have to live in a home that they built Themselves. The government should be ashamed. Stop with the “it’s only been 20 years since apartheid” excuse. At least wait until your people aren’t looked at as poverty stricken until you want to be corrupt.

This is not a township, it's an informal settlement. Township establishment in SA are regulated. Townships have proper infrastructure and amenities (schools, churches, shopping malls, clinics etc.) Western media will never show the world the nice places where black people stay. If you Google townships in South Africa, they only show shacks. It's hard to find a picture of a real township on the internet.

@Ozzy Mandias your probably not from South Africa, so only comment if you know what your talking about. South Africa is much worse of now than it ever was during Apartheid
@r97154 жыл бұрын
@Ozzy Mandias equality? What a joke man. This country has never seen equality. First black people had laws against them and now whites, coloureds and indians have laws against them. There will be no real equality in this country untill all race based laws are removed. Also remove all the racist politicians
@r97154 жыл бұрын
@Ozzy Mandias we never made any of those laws. The fuckd up government of that time did. Just like the new fuckd up government made these affirmative action laws that discriminate against race. Never blame the ordinary people. If you remember right, the whites in South Africa were the ones to voted in the referendum to end Apartheid. And the far majority of whites voted to end Apartheid so that everyone can have equal rights. How were those voters rewarded? By putting race based laws against them.
@r97154 жыл бұрын
@Ozzy Mandias either way, you can't deny that we have a terrible government. Now and back then. And the ones that suffer most from this are the people. Im not coming up for the old gov at all, but people are being disadvantaged just as much if not more by the current governments incompetence and corruption

I believe we can fix the poverty in South Africa, if we can find our moral compass and decency. No one should ever live in these horrendous conditions. It's inhumane. I was born on the Cape Flats and know first hand the suffering that ordinary people, who have hopes, dreams, goals and families; live in limbo because they are subjected to this abuse thanks to red-tape. I am sure that someday, we will look back and weep that we have the power to end so much suffering because the alternative besides losing one's humanity, is to create a social crisis that will affect us all for generations to come.
@pintail1204 жыл бұрын
@Dyy Xyd that wont help, you can bring trucks of money, the corrupt government will take it all, every last cent. This should have ended long ago but the the current selfish government lines their own pockets with the money that could fix this. The actual fix involves voting for a different government, an honourable government
