I stood before the autoclave and observed, it cycles 3 times before it goes past 20psi. From a cold autoclave it heats and pressures, then temp and pressure reverse for a bit, heats and pressures up again, then backs off, third pressure and heat up goes past 20psi. It would be helpful if this was mentioned or written somewhere…

Is it ok to use chemicals on tray? Rinsing it out good with regular water and drying them before putting them back in?

I started a month ago at this office, I noticed that the metal trays are badly burnt. I asked the assistant that's been working in the office for over 6 yrs, she said she doesn't remove the metals from the autoclave. She only change the water. What can I do to clean the metal trays? I'm doing the monthly maintenance, I had used about 5 gallons of distilled water and the water from the inside when I was trying to empty the reservoir was still murky. What should I do??? I don't think the other assistant is doing it right.

After the rinse cycle after cooling you say to rinse the trays. The video shows the operator wetting the cloth with Speed Clean. Does the Speed Clean then stay on the trays? If I rinse without Speed Clean does it have to be distilled water?

Isn’t paper side down more likely to have inadequate drying afterward? I read that paper up allows the water to escape more easily- why is it recommended paper down?
@skywonder3173 Жыл бұрын
Yeah in my office it has always been paper up and the plastic side down so the pouches are facing down when we autoclave them 🤷🏻♀️
@undeadaeon99928 ай бұрын
@@ryanrydell8243sterilize with paper down, then during drying phase, flip them to dry. Sounds like extra work, but that's probably the best way
@MiguelSieglaff2 ай бұрын
It's the exact opposite. Water is heavy and wants to drain with gravity. When plastic side down, all the water pools and then can't evaporate. When it's paper side down, water can drain through the paper and evaporate due to the pores in the paper fibers.

I was doing the monthly maintenance on the autoclave and when I was checking the valves the video you sent says to let the PSI get up to 20 and then release the steam. Our autoclave only went up to 13 and then let it out automatically. So I'm not sure if that's right?
@rosev3662 жыл бұрын
Hi it will release automatically 3 times before it reaches 20psi - it will reach 20 Psi when it heats to 258 F.
