I really enjoyed the scrapyard experience on the planet, but I'm not pursuing much further into space, rather will transition back to the far from home style vanilla encounters for my next interplanetary journey, partly due the inspiration you and others have given playing FFF, but also the scrapyard space resource balance isn't quite right. I'm not trying to tell you how to suck eggs and promise I won't annoy you beyond this comment with 'I did it this way so you should too', very much want to see you do scrapyard in your style, just something to consider for your upcoming 25k trip.

I thought far enough ahead to name a couple of hinges, but not that first one, so apologies for that. It's super cool to see your approach to things, you're handling a lot of it better than I did. I also like in both our playthroughs how you get on with stuff while things are in travelling interplanetary, it adds a whole other dynamic and interest to the game.

Getting that last section in place took a few tries. I think it is just a random chance that it didn't explode things as on other attempts. I have just let the game run in the background a little between episodes to help with the travel times.

I again must compliment you on the smoothness of the space elevator running. For the static/ship conversation headaches, I was told about a mod called Force Dynamic Grids which may help.
@ssislo844 ай бұрын
I have tried that mod and it turned the top section of the elevator into a dynamic grid. It did not let go and fall but it did cause it to jiggle. The rails are being held together with just connectors and anything that may turn grids dynamic may lead to disaster. P.S. Be careful with the "p" key when disconnecting form the elevator bad things can happen.

Big wheels mod?. Why not just force a large grid wheel onto a small grid suspension?
@ssislo845 ай бұрын
Useful big wheels by Sadragos. It makes the 5x5 wheels have 5x the friction and 3x the power. The other wheel sizes are also boosted except the 1x1 wheels
@brandonfrye18345 ай бұрын
@@ssislo84 Why not force the game to make them bigger though without the use of a mod I understand that you enjoy the mod because of the settings that it adds the better friction and stuff but that would also translate over to the large grid wheels which would even further benefit you with the mod on correct? Either way in my humble opinion large grid wheels on a small grid suspension and on a small grid vehicle just performs so well. And with the mod yes your wheels will definitely benefit from it lol I actually would like to see at least a second version in your next video where you've taken the same blueprint and forced large grid wheels on the small grid suspension.

@@brandonfrye1834 I believe I see the problem now. That is a large grid rover, with a large grid large cargo container, and large grid suspension. I needed it to move a full 421,000 L of iron ingots from the mine to he production area. Even with the thruster for boost I needed the extra power of the mod to get the thing to get up the hills between the mine and production.

The nicest thing about it is that it works. While it is a little clumsy, it shows that an automatic delivery/ferry between two points is possible with just the vanilla AI blocks and event controllers.
@petrus45 ай бұрын
It's got a camera, and it could easily have more. If you put an ore detector on it, you could possibly use it as a remote ore scout. It could work for patrol and recon of various kinds. I don't know if you can tie an event to it taking damage, but if you could, that could give you hostile proximity detection, and it's cheap enough in material terms to be considered expendable for that role. The cobalt and the battery comps are probably the most expensive bits. It also functions very well as a template for teaching other people (such as myself) the basics of the AI system. You could potentially even adapt it for personal item delivery, similar to the logistics drones in Factorio, or attach a single welder block to it, for a small grid welder drone. The possibilities are endless.
@ssislo845 ай бұрын
Keep in mind the searchlight is a camera also, if you put a searchlight on top you would have all the camera angles you need. In one of my videos (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWS6lolmbLmBhNk) I set up a drone to return on damage. This drone does have an event controller that may be repurposed to do it. I think there is a limit to how far it can find you from and its navigation is not the best, but for a "around the house" delivery drone it may work.
@Nocare895 ай бұрын
I like that thruster idea
@ssislo845 ай бұрын
In this video it is empty so it is hard to see it in action, but once loaded up you can see it is really needed to get up some of the hills that were on my delivery route. The event controllers have opened up a lot of possibilities that were previously left to scripts.
