Hi, your contribution is very good! I recently acquired a Dragon Link v3 Advanced, with Bluetooth only. Currently, is it necessary to do this to have telemetry on the Radiomaster? Does it not work by directly connecting the DL's tx/rx uexp with the Radiomaster's aux1? Thanks.

Nice video Scott! Great job. What type of Rc transmitter connection cable did you select while purchasing Dragonlink V3? I have a Radiomaster Tx16s Mark II, so which cable connector would suit best for external module? Kindly advise.

You just use the normal module bay connector. For this setup, you also connect the telemetry input pin.

Wow Scott, this is fantastic. Thank you. I am working to do this myself and already have a pixhawk 4 on the way along with a radiomaster and am looking to get the dragon link. I know what the stats say about 433 vs 915 mhz, why do you like the 433 more? Simply for the longer range and better object penetration?
@Noircogi3 жыл бұрын
I have both 433MHz and 915MHz Dragonlink systems. Since I fly in a hilly area, the 433 is much better due to its better penetration. It also works way better with 1.2GHz video.

GraysonHobby has the cheap 2w speaker upgrade stateside. I have two TX16s's. I repurposed all my telemetry switches to report Crossfire telemetry... and doubled them up to use the momentary switch as a SHIFT key... so... 24 momentary switches to report stuff with audio :-) Um, question, I have the list of Crossfire telemetry values, do you have a list of Dragonlink telemetry words/values. I might record all of them as words in my next Sound Pack release. I think Frsky has a reciever thatt also reports telemetry. Click my Youtue name for sound pack info. I fly quads... I tried to talk BlueFish into testing out my Sound Pack as a LR wing pilot, what sounds he would need that are missing, he said he would, but haven't heard back from him yet... I bought some extra 27800's for the battery compartment, but probably am going to run the whole thing off of some buck converters I bought... so my goggles and trasnmitter all run off the same battery pack.. ditto for the trainer transmitter and goggles... so... 4 things all plugged into just one battery to recharge. I don't know how you read that laptop screen in the bright daylight. Coat over your head?

Is dragonlink similar to crossfire? I am new to this stuff^^'
@Noircogi4 жыл бұрын
Yes, Dragonlink is like a higher-end version of Crossfire with much longer range. It operates on the 433 MHz band and requires an amateur radio license to use.
@checkm86064 жыл бұрын
@@Noircogi oh that is interesting:D the license is for USA or where do you need it (Germany?)?
@spyder0000694 жыл бұрын
@@Noircogi I would argue that crossfire is the higher end system. The onboard oled and controls let you configure it from the device and now you can also configure CF through opentx right on the radio. The DL you have to plug up to the PC. The software is much further advanced than DL. I find the response much quicker too and you can run 57k baud from the CF without flow control but DL you have to lower to 38. The esp32 on the DL is interesting but not really any more useful than the bluetooth connection the only difference is the CF bluetooth always works and the DL's latest bluetooth had all kinds of problems so the wifi is really a bandaid for that situation. The only thing DL has going for it is 433 which I have no idea why TBS hasn't put out CF in a 433 version because they would take over the market. I have been out to 28km with the CF so range is good. It actually outran my DL the other day that failsafed at 18km (both same setups, minitalon, moxon on tx). CF big downfall is it doesn't work with 1.3 video and 2.4 can be hit or miss with interference.

How did you assemble these batteries? Do you solder them, weld them, tape a connector between them, etc.?
@Noircogi4 жыл бұрын
I soldered them. The space is very tight side to side, so I didn't use heat-shrink. I used hot-glue between the two cells, a normal 2S balance connector, nickel strip, and kapton tape over the ends for insulation, and down the middle for a bit more structural strength.

Dang, you ought to offer those covers for sale, I'd buy one. If two 28600's will fit in there, will two 21700's fit in there? Now regretting I bought 18650's just for the TX16s, but I got them if a 21700 home made pack won't fit. You could hack and add a small amplifier driving a better internal speaker off the two speaker leads inside. I probably wouldn't need to unless I was in some seriously windy conditions, but then I probably wouldn't be flying then. fpv.air-war.org

@Noircogi8 жыл бұрын
It was unlisted during beta, but not anymore. The three knobs are 2 pots and one 6-position switch. You can use the 6-pos switch to select flight modes, but I prefer combos of two multi-pos switches because I can go to exactly the flight mode I want instantly and without looking at the radio.

Man that is so smooth! I found this in the Skyhunter thread on rcg and now I am curious about this Talon. Which airframe do you prefer? I have never read about V-tails. Can a FC like the Vector control one properly or do you have to use a special controller for that?
@Noircogi8 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the Vector could control a V-Tail. Personally, I use pixhawks on my planes though. This talon is one I converted to a standard '+" tail configuration. I'm not really a fan of V-Tails myself. I like the my custom talons way better. They're smoother, fly straighter, and are way more efficient than the Skyhunter. Check my posts in the Talon thread on rcgroups (Noircogi)

Thanks, I am the guy you replied to a bit ago in the Skyhunter thread. I went ahead and just ordered one of those. Will be my first airplane, so seems easier than setting up a v tail or modding it to be standard.

I found on the DJI Phantoms that a "proper" compass calibration is to put something small on the ground and then keep the copter over that spot while calibrating. In other words circle around that spot. That stopped drift from about 8-10' to 1-2' but I don't know if that will work on the Vector. I'm building a tricopter now and have the Vector and once I get flying and tuned I'll come back and post my results. Hopefully in the past year, EagleTree will have tweaked their GPS to hold position better. What you have here is unacceptable.

The very best fix for this stuff is to use an NT IMU, then you can route the wires trough the middle of the motors with no problems.

I am having similar problems. The 3-axis gimal is mid size and the IMU wire route to the Storm32 board is almost 700mm. Too long apparently. Whenever started with the motors enabled, the I2C fails, even with the IMU wiring well away from the motor wires.

I recently got the Vector for my F450 and I love it but when it comes to LOITER " GPS " MODE the NAZA is the king , the Vector on LOITER is all over the place , is virtually useless but the NAZA on GPS MODE stays put and doesn't move at all , nevertheless I still preferred the Vector for its straightforward connectivity to the FPV hardware and its class leading OSD not the mention that is more suitable than the NAZA for 3D flights too .

My Tri Copter with the Vector stays very tight in loiter mode, maybe 2-3 feet radius drift max during calm winds and much less than 1 feet vertically. There are lots of settings incl gains and corrections for GPS etc which can be tweaked. Did you make any improvements to the Vector settings?
@Noircogi10 жыл бұрын
I've done two things since which helped a lot. 1. The power harness between the vector and the current sensor was loose. I believe it would occasionally glitch power to the vector causing it to lose lock. I'm lucky it didn't crash due to that. 2. I turned off the "Wind Rejection" setting on the vector. That seems to just be broken. Loiter is acceptable with those two changes.
@TheRoggan12310 жыл бұрын
Scott Pritchett Thanks mate. Ill give the wind rejection setting a try, but Loiter mode for me is working really well (default rejection setting which I think is "On"). The only problem I have is that yaw/rotation is drifting very slowly to the right, maybe some 30 degrees over 10 minutes without inputs. Cound be compass callibration or sensitivity on correcting yaw?
