@@RESTOHAUS-ClassicVolkswagens they were meant to be the successor to the beetle, but turned out to be quite crappy cars... our neighbor bought one and had loads of trouble with it. i can see why they are sought after now, they are rare nowadays.

Thanks for your opinion buddy, unfortunately I have to disagree. The type 3 was designed as a saloon, a fastback & an estate, as an addition to the Volkswagen range and ran parallel to the Beetle for many years. There was never a question of reliability, as ultimately it was a Volkswagen, which were always much better quality than there alternatives back in the day. Volkswagen ceased production in the mid '70's as the Passat was introduced as a water-cooled replacement.

Hi Thomas, yes my love for air cooled Volkswagens started in the early '70's with my parents tin top Devon. You definitely drive them in a different way to a modern vehicle, but I find them so relaxing, due to the fact you don't whizz around like we do in modern motors. But actually take your time to enjoy the journey as well. What colour was your parents one Thomas ?

@@RESTOHAUS-ClassicVolkswagens green lower body with white upper, reg no LAO700L . It replaced a much loved Rover 2000TC when I was about 13 . Cold in winter and hot in the summer but I have happy memories of family days out in it.

@thomas05ish cool my parents one was pastel white over chianti red & then the ne t one was again a Devon, but this time with an elevating roof I pastrl white over brilliant orange. Happy memories

It's not running its original 1200cc engine buddy, it's a 1600 twin port and the trailer isn't that heavy. The gearing is also low , so it pulls along really well 👌

The Karmann Ghia is my favourite car of all time
